Let’s see if Darrell Issa and the Republican base take an obsessive interest in this:
Gunmen have kidnapped the Jordanian ambassador in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
Libyan foreign ministry officials say assailants in two cars opened fire on the convoy carrying Ambassador Fawaz al-Etan Tuesday morning as it traveled through the city center near the Jordanian embassy.
His driver was wounded in the attack.
Libya’s foreign ministry spokesman Said al-Aswad said authorities are closely following the case and working to ensure the safety of the ambassador.
Will everyone insist on knowing whether or not al-Qaeda is responsible? Why wasn’t Jordan able to predict that this would happen? Did protests precede the attack? Why didn’t the military respond sooner? Were the initial reports in some respects inaccurate? Who prepared those talking points?
TRIPOLI!!
Time to ramp up US training of Libyan security forces. Was it mentioned when Americans rallied around bombing Libya to get Gaddafi that we would be on the hook for funding and training their security forces? Because after Iraq and Afghanistan we’ve become so gosh darn good at doing this.
Do we provide the live targets too? Like in Afghanistan?
Not unless or until an occupant of the WH needs Muricans on the street chanting “USA, Number One, USA, …”
The Jordanian ambassador has brown skin, and does not carry water for the modern, radicalized conservative movement, so they could give a shit about him. To the degree they care about this news at all, they will read this as proving that the Middle East is made up of a bunch of unreasonable animals, which is exactly why this is no time to be cutting the Defense budget.
In other words, this is excellent news for John McCain.
All problems are solved by implementing True Conservatism, aka Spewing Testosterone.
Libya is not a topic to joke about. Everyday lives are lost, there is no government or stability and with the spread of arms and munitions, the dozens of tribes and militant groups have divided the nation. Violence and armed conflicts are a daily experience and there is no rule of law.
Your skepticism was right on, the intervention by NATO bombing raids has left the country and all of North Africa worse off. We have had Mali, Niger and the Algerian hostage crisis. The US and Arab allies from the GCC states used Libya for arms trafficking to rebels and jihadists in Syria. Tons of weapons and munitions were shipped to Turkey and across the northern border into Syria. How did that work out.
Furthermore, Libyan arms and jihadists have supported Boko Haram in Nigeria which had led to bloodshed amongst civilians: bombings and slaughter of Christians in schools and churches.
A United Nations Panel of Experts on Libya that studied the illicit transfer of weapons stressed that arms left “Libya to 12 countries” in the North African region and West Africa. As normalcy returned, arms unaccounted for are now sold via online sites.

I’m entitled to my bitterness.
The stupid ain’t gonna make me bitter, no way! LOL
Just very sad, and ready to keep pushing for Democratic leadership, those supporting humanity and ecology.

Off-topic. There’s a civil war breaking out in Ukraine. Just saying.
Just manoeuvres for a better bargaining position coming Thursday when Lavrov and Kerry meet.
Acting president Oleksandr Turchynov had to order the army units to quell protest of pro-Russians in the East. The thugs in Kiev had once again taken over Independence Square and the Rada parliament building. The right-wing thugs set a 24-hour deadline for the government to act, otherwise the president would face the same fate as Janukovich.
Part of Putin’s plan.
How did Putin get Vicky Nuland and our State Department to spend five billion to stage a coup with neo-Nazis? This Putin guy is sure sneaky.
Big middle finger to that neo-Nazi bull
By watching them act over the last decade plus ………
They hate Jordan because of its freedoms.
