So, what is Scottie McClellan going to say when the press asks him why Karl Rove hasn’t been sacked for lying to the President about whether he leaked a covert agent’s identity to the press?

One thing we can count on for sure, It WON’T be honest, and nothing close to the truth ; )
what makes you think the press IS going to ask that question…they have been almost totally silent on this subject since miller went to jail.
don’t depress me 🙂
There are articles in the Times and Post. They need quotes for follow up articles. They will ask this time. If not, I am going to contemplate suicide.
We’ll miss you when your gone.
😉
You’re gone. Danged apostrophes!
if it was NBC or ABC, but I was watching the nightly news last night and they reported the Rove talking points about how he didn’t give away the name.
But then they said that Bush could not be happy that Rove had deceived him for so long.
Of course, that’s a joke. Bush knew all along.
But, my point is that they are already pursuing the meme that Rove screwed the President.
Since they know that McClellan can’t discuss the legal aspects, they’ll have to discuss the political aspects. And that means, asking why Rove never came clean.
They know what Bush would think? Or do they really think Bush would think and they just put in what they would think if they thought? But why would Bush be unhappy with Rove if he was doing the job the Bushies are always on the ball for – trashing other people? So why would the journalists think Bush would be unhappy? What world are they inhabiting?
who would say, “Go fuck yourself!”… probably he’ll use a little nicer wording… but then, that’s what he gets paid the big bucks for…
So I’m gonna wait for you to tell me. It is my policy not to step in any crap ever – I won’t watch that stuff, it wrecks my life. Of course, reading about it is close to imagining it. I can’t handle the truth! Reading the blogs is just as effective as peeking at the scary movie through my fingers.
“The president has already said that he trusts Karl, and I’m not going to keep repeating it because you guys can’t read your own notes.
Next question? Jeff?”
You took mine! Have a 4…
Thankee kin’ly… don’t mind if I do… (enormous amounts of suckage in the news today, I’ll take my grins where I can find them…)
I put it at 2-1 against, that MSM press asks the question “Why hasn’t Rove been fired/Is the Prez going to fire Rove?”
Calling Terry Moran? Your balls are needed at todays press briefing. Terry, please ask if Karl Rove is in his “last throes” and how long he will last!!
The excellent movie “13 Days” did not have Pentagon approval because they did not like the way 2 generals were portrayed during the Cuban missile crisis. They were portrayed as “unintelligent and bellicose.” Well, that’s what they were, the director said.
Here’s the thought that stayed with me. The Pentagon and the US Military exist to protect all the people of the US not just those who agree with them. They could just as easily help promote an anti-war film, showing that they are objective and democratic. But they refuse to, instead they fall for the temptation to promote only their own best image. Remember that folks, they exist to protect all of you, Democrats, Republicans, Greens, and even “peaceniks.” Good documentary for any of you who can get Canadian television. (It may have even originated on Frontline.)
But the military really does care what people think about them. NASA spends a huge amount of its budget on PR and I suspect the joint chiefs make sure a substantial chunk of the military budget – overt and covert – covers PR needs. And nobody does control freak better than the military.
That’s what the entire documentary was about, the Pentagon’s obsession with its own image.
The idea is, they exist to protect all Americans.
exist for that, but if you look closely at their mission – They are to report to their commanders who report to the Commander in Chief. Notice that even though the CIC reports to the people (normally), there is that layer of command that comes between the grunts and the people.
And the upper echelon of command is looking up at the upper upper echelon for both promotion and their orders. Rather like a circular stroking session, if you ask me. Nobody from the outside (other than auditors who don’t have much traction) gets to review this process.
My apologies for not connecting to your comment correctly.
Right ‘should’is a good word I omitted –
I was thinking of the ideal world. 🙂
Look at the news from Guantanamo this morning.
Talk about the need for oversight.
No wonder more military don’t speak out against the
administration, they could lose their livelihood and
their pensions. It is mostly financially secure retired
Generals who dare to speak out.
By the way, I loved that movie “13 Days” – according to
RFK, Kennedy was alone in a room with men who wanted to
start WWIII. He was the only one who resisted.
Now, think of Bush in the same situation.
No don’t, it’s too painful.
might do, but not one that is beholden to the industrial – military complex lobbies
All the down wires are fixed and we are a little soggy, but Dennis didn’t bite us very hard. The final analysis is something about Dennis building an eye wall hit dry air on land and it knocked him down and like killed his “bands” aimed at me. The people below me and people above me not so lucky, kind of uneventful though where I was. A big limb came off of one of our trees and hit the power lines. Didn’t knock the power lines down but the phone line was up there with them and it did get that one. We have a cable VOIP so it didn’t really do anything to us……just all the neighbors. They did have a power outage to make repairs but it didn’t take long. Lots of branches and things to clean up but that’s about it. GOT WATER? I do! Lots! It is the fluid of life though so how can I really go wrong there?
Hilary said Bush’s policies is as if we had Alfred E Newman from Mad Magazine as president. Good on her. Of course, now the Repugs are crying, oh she’s so mean.
