Candidate For Indiana 6th Congressional District

10/18/08

Friends, Fellow Hoosiers, Fellow Americans

Congressman Mike Pence was in Laurel, Indiana last Friday (10/14/05).  Six days after I formally announced our candidacy.

While he was here in my hometown, he told the people, and the press,

“….we simply have got to reduce our dependency on foreign oil below 50 percent by the end of this decade,” he said. “We can do it.”  http://www.newsexaminer.com/articles/2005/10/15/latest_news/news03.txt  Connersville News Examiner 10/15/05.

While he is saying this to the people, what is actually happening is, the abolishing of all current exploration of alternative fuel sources and a guarantee to insure dependency on oil, not reduce it.  .

Here is what the RSC, which Congressman Pence Leads, wants to do:

Eliminate the Applied Research for Renewable Energy Sources Program

Eliminate the Clean Coal Technology Program

Eliminate the FreedomCAR Program

Eliminate the Hydrogen Fuel Initiative

In other words, keep us dependent on oil.

I disagree with this.

The Congressman is saying one thing and doing another, and I am disappointed that he is taking this tact with the people.   Please do not take my word for this, but explore for yourself, and be informed.

The people deserve honest representation.  If you agree with this, join me.

We cannot count on the conservative media of Indiana.  We cannot count on the national press.  We must carry this message ourselves, from friend to friend, and neighbor to neighbor.

We must shed light on the truth, regardless of party.  There are those that cannot be helped and will blindly follow, but there are those that see for themselves, and need to hear the truth.

We must raise money to put the truth into Indiana’s media as well.  If we can get 100,000 people that want change from across America, to give $5.00 each, on a one time, or sustained basis, we can run a competitive campaign against Congressman Pence.   $5.00 a month is Seventeen Cents a day.  Give your change for change.

Congressman Pence will be The Majority or Minority Leader of the House if he is re-elected.  Let’s not be responsible for the next Tom Delay.

It is noble and just to run a symbolic campaign for change, but real change will only come when the public gets involved.

I am asking you to join me in donating money, time, and voice, to this campaign of People Before Profits.

The Problem is Conservatism

Cross-posted at MyDD

Right-wing theorists have a strategy for dealing with the impending conservative crack-up, from Iraq to the economy – blame it all on the Bush administration:

The neocons develop an exit strategy — a political one

President George W. Bush may have no military exit strategy for Iraq, but the “neocons” who convinced him to go to war there have developed one of their own — a political one: Blame the Administration.

Their neo-Wilsonian theory is correct, they insist, but the execution was botched by a Bush team that has turned out to be incompetent, crony-filled, corrupt, unimaginative and weak over a wide range of issues.

We cannot let them get away with this.

Joe & Valerie May Sue White House

Joe and Valerie Plame Wilson have lined up Christopher Wolf [PHOTO LEFT], a top attorney in D.C., to prepare “to file a civil lawsuit against the Bush administration officials who disclosed her identity and scuttled her career,” writes Salon.

If Joe and Valerie do sue, says Salon, they’ll be the first to depose White House officials since Paula Jones. The couple will wait to decide on a lawsuit until Fitzgerald announces his decisions on indictments.

About the case, Wolf says, “There is no question that her privacy has been invaded. She was almost by definition the ultimate private person … Suffice it to say, they have been substantially damaged, economically and personally.”

Wolf, a partner at Proskauer Rose, is considered a pioneer in a Internet law and electronic privacy. His specialties list includes employment discrimination, director and officer liability, libel, defamation, privacy, and much more.

What I’m gleaning from the Salon article is that it is Wolf who is Joe and Valerie’s neighbor, who Wilson has described previously only as an attorney — and you may also recall this anecdote — who stepped out on his back deck, and, seeing a stricken Wilson outside, expressed concern about the column that he’d just read by Bob Novak.
