This diary is inspired by an insightful exchange by mstein in yesterday’s diary, where he had the following scenarios:

the worldwide economic imbalances have gotten so extreme that the eventual “reversion to the mean” cannot come with a “soft landing”.  The sensible but optimistic inflationist probably sees something like the 70’s, a pessimistic one sees another Weimar Germany.  The sensible but optimistic deflationist probably sees another 90’s Japan, the pessimist another Great Depression.

Let me make the pessimist case here, on the basis of the document we discussed and a few others from my archives.

Ah, good morning! Good morning, and welcome once again to Sunday Griot! I’m glad to see you all here again on such a blustery morning.

You know, the wind reminds me of a story. But that should hardly surprise anyone by now! After the last story that took three weeks to tell, today’s is a little more modest. It’s about a man with an unusual job qualification . . . but maybe when you think about it, it isn’t that unusual after all.

Like most of us, gas prices are eating away at my budget so I’ve been looking at the new hybrids etc. But they are way out of my price range.

As I was searching alternative fuels I found out that my Ford Ranger pick up is already EQUIPPED to use ethanol or E85 fuel. Why didn’t I know that before?

I think I can logically figure out why I did not know this- never inquired, was never told, information kept from consumer maybe?

Anyways, you too may already be driving a vehicle that can use ethanol fuel. See below:
