Import Prices Surge, Trade Deficit Widens
Read MoreThe U.S. trade deficit widened to $59 billion in August as record crude oil prices caused imports to rise, keeping the nation dependent on foreign investors to fund the shortfall.
The gap in goods and services trade was the third-largest on record and followed a $58 billion deficit in July, the Commerce Department said today in Washington. Both imports and exports were at all-time highs during the month, and the gap with China widened to a record on more shipments of textiles.
SEC Subpoenas Bill Frist

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) has been subpoenaed to turn over personal records and documents as federal authorities step up a probe of his July sales of HCA Inc. stock, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
The Securities and Exchange Commission issued the subpoena within the past two weeks, after initial reports that Frist, the Senate’s top Republican official, was under scrutiny by the agency and the Justice Department for possible violations of insider trading laws.
Nothing like some gasoline to throw on the fire, eh? Here’s hoping for some added momentum to the Culture of Corruption meme.

Thanks to catnip’s diary for highlighting the concerted LIES and DECEIT by George and Tony, which has been touched upon multiple times, no one would comprehend, perhaps not ready for it yet.
The coordination in intelligence to excuse the Iraq War and its horrible occupation, civilian deaths and brutal aftermath has been clear from the beginning. Please also include Likud, Sharon and Israel as a major player in the true coalition to invade Iraq, bogus threats and War of Propaganda.
I have written a number of diaries about the propaganda and quoted extensively from Sam Gardiner’s articles.
I am willing to state once again, look deeper into the 911 attacks, as my strong believe is these were allowed to happen by the U.S. and Israel. I even have doubts about the London bombings, the 7 July attack, because the so called bombing 14 days later was more of a hoax than a true deadly attack.
