New Season’s have this beer and the other Black Sheep beers! I saw it and abotu flipped out. I LOVE Pyhon and me and my hockey friends joke alot about em. I bought some for Mr. Damnit. It smelled very tasty.
THey also had a John Barleycorn (I bought it too due to the music match that popped into my head) I like to PICK OUT beers but never found a liking for them.
Now… tequila.. nice, buttery tequila, the type you swirl and sniff and slowly sip. Real tequila isn’t knock back kind I just learned in my grizzled age.
Have you ever seen the movie Miracle Run with Mary Louise Parker? She plays a single mom raising autistic twin boys. It’s really good and she’s awesome in it. I’m watching it right now on Lifetime.
No I haven’t yet. I think a pal of an autistic boy told me a bit about it. It’s so freaking hard for me to watch those. I have to really gear up for it.
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape – which I LOVED – totally surprised me and I was so not ready for it. Actually THAT movie was superb. If you haven’t met Wesley – Arnie IS Wesley, pretty much.
That’s the Traffic album that “Glad” is on; that’s the song that the Sharks’ home station (KUFX) uses as a lead-in to the pre-game show. It’s almost 7 minutes long and can be cut off at any time, which makes it good for something like that.
Spouse came home from work with a bit of tummy trouble, so we’re skipping the dance class tonight; we’ll catch up next week.
And talked to mom-in-law; dad-in-law’s surgery went well, though they had some trouble getting the IV’s into his hands so one hand might be a bit blue for a few days, she said. He’s actually resting fairly comfortably — no pain (yet), no nausea, so that’s a good sign. No word as to when he’ll be coming home — I’m going to the house tomorrow afternoon to help my mom-in-law with computer stuff, then the spouse will come by after work and the three of us will go up for a hospital visit, and we’ll grab some dinner to bring back to the house.
Actually kinda glad to be home tonight; it’s quite damp and the snails are out in force — the paths are a bit treacherous.
I happy your dad in law’s surgery went well. I know its always nerve wracking because you never know if something will go wrong. Surgery isn’t without risk especially for older people.
But I’m sorry your not dancing tonight. I was looking forward to the details.
emjw, thank you so much for sharing Tracy and SuperSoling’s diary to WildernessWench, gave me a chance to go back and read those. Gotsme all reflecting and schtuff… misty-eyed, too.
Well it depends… do I have to take the peanuts out of my ears?? 🙂 Or can I just sit next to you and draw goofy pictures of the other attendees and sneak em to ya under the table? 🙂
Weather’s been really bad this winter: Really warm (hovering around the freezing mark) so every other day it’s ice rain, then mucky slushy wet snow, and no sun. That’s why I loved looking at those beach photos!
Job’s going well. Lots of work. Enjoy most of it. 🙂 It’s lit review, writing papers, stats, sas … that sort of thing, all of which I love. And then there’s the view. This is the view out my office window:
Sunset on Ottawa River, taken 1.16.2006. (view large)
It was one of the few days we had sun for a full day (only been three since I started I think).
I’ve been a little down lately — maybe the weather has something to do with it…
I gotta warn you, I’m not finding Lies an easy read in the sense of zipping through. That’s one of the reasons I said in the other cafe that I’m probably going to divide the diary comment sections into chapters so people will have somethiing to talk about whether they read one chapter or all of them.
I just put it on hold at the library. I’ve started to order it from (amazon) a couple of times. But I’m really trying not to buy books. Well, I’m trying not to buy serious books.
I finally had to give up waiting for the library. I listened to the first 2/3rds on the library tape of it, but then couldn’t renew and couldn’t get the book, so I ended up buying it today. It’s a really good book to have in one’s library, though. I think I’ll want to be able to refer to it in the future.
Well, I haven’t yet, but a couple of things just happened that make me really glad to be a writer, so maybe I will get that writing done some time before the midnight hour.
Wednesday and Sunday and late night are when we need the most help. I know late night probably doesn’t work for you but if you have some time on the other days and want to do it, I can email you some info.
Email me baby! Rules?? Ack Okay I’ll tryyyyyyyyyyyy to observe whatever rules… (you know that’s asking for trouble, right?) 🙂
Sunday afternoon I can pitchpost when I see you need help – catchcan type of deal
And I could do Wednesday Afternoon for sure – if I have to bail for an appt or school emergency, something? what then
Ive been able to flake out but some days I just am not even able to breath. It’s odd – I have no real schedule ya know. And when I try to make one – that’s when I get so fucked over.. LOL
My tips are going to disappoint you cause they’re just doing to be some ready-made cafes.
But if you’ve got some specific questions I can try to answer them and if I can’t, I can ask katiebird who is the all-knowing, all-seeing HTML goddess.
Okay, simple is a good place to start. 🙂 I’ll be able to put in my own pictures and stuff later on right? Cause I love farting around, searching for photos 🙂
Okay I gotsta to flip some chops. Lemon & Soy sauce pork chops.
Everyone in my house is giving me the hairy eyeball and asking me things like – what’s for dinner?
and even if I highlight copy – I still screw it up alot because it’s so hard figuring out where the direction ends and where to insert the text or picture.
It’s worse than alegbra, man!!!! 🙂
What I do is in my little diary notepad – but ) are the command starts and I leave a few spaces with an explanation of what the command is.
DJ, that would be perfect!!
Here’s how our weeks look right now:
Monday: Second Nature
Tuesday: Man Eegee Wednesday: Froggybottom
Thursday: kansas
Friday: CabinGirl
Saturday: Katiebird Sunday: Froggybottom
Froggybottom also shows up for the over-night cafes. And also when one of the hosts has to leave and the cafe gets too crowded. Any time you see that happen, feel free to jump right in with froggybottom.
Kansas, Way back when I volunteered to do a day in December. I believe that it ended up being somebody’s day. I would like to host but couldn’t commit to a regular schedule. (During the day I get called to court upon little or no notice.) Perhaps on a Sunday.
I don’t believe that I could do every Sunday. Froggybottom ranks? If that means occasional duties, that would be better for me. (Sorry, it’s late here and my mind stopped working hours ago.)
If you’ve got three dogs, the five second rule applies — five second is all the time you’ve got to get any food that’s fallen on the floor before they do.
My black lab… she one time scarfed down a paper place of nachos… plate and all. and whooaaababy those were some vicious Black Lab Farts! Daaayamn!
Our girl is kennel trained so she sleeps in there at night, but if we forget… it’s like the food on the floor fairy came by and cleaned it all up.
Her mom knew to wait till the food was ON the floor before she’d take it. A few times too many of her snatching a poptart off the arm of the couch or something and my son would WAIL… she learned she didn’t like that non-stop wailling.
I’m good. Just got home. BTW — my front page problem WAS gone the next day, just like you said. So sometimes sleeping on a problem will make it all go away.
I’ve got to record a short music lesson on a remote student’s video tape, then Puget4 and I are doing some light desk area & living room tidying up before we can relax.
Landlord had overgrown bushes cleared away from around the house today. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the tromping around triggered more seepage into my shop. I sure hope it settles down before tomorrow when I need to be running machinery.
What does froggybottom’s sig line mean? The one… “where it’s a treat to beat your feet”?
I suppose maybe it has something to do with dancing? Only, the mental image I always get is that of everyone sitting around in one of those Russian steam baths, where they whisk their skin with those switches – only in this one everyone beats their feet ;).
It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a line from an old song I like called Mississippi Mud. It just seemed like a good line for a cafe run by a frog.
When the sun goes down, the tide goes out,
The people gather ’round and they all begin to shout,
“Hey! Hey! Uncle Dud,
It’s a treat to beat your feet on the Mississippi Mud.
It’s a treat to beat your feet on the Mississippi Mud”.
What a dance do they do!
Lordy, how I’m tellin’ you…
They don’t need no band…
They keep time by clappin’ their hand…
Just as happy as a cow chewin’ on a cud,
When the people beat their feet on the Mississippi Mud.
I’ve been trying to stay up later to see if it helps me sleep better. One reason I go to bed “early” is that I only sleep a couple hours at a time and then I wake up for 15-20 minutes, go back to sleep for hour or so, etc. I end up getting four or five hours of sleep a night.
I’ve always been a light sleeper but when I started peri-menopause I had a terrible getting to sleep and staying asleep (it might take me over an hour to fall asleep and then wake up every hour or so). Once I got through menopause, the getting to sleep problem went away and the staying asleep improved but I never sleep through the night and I’m generally completely awake by 5:00 or so.
I’ve been trying to stay up till 11:00 – 11:30 the last couple of weeks but I’ve mostly been using the “extra” time for reading which means that I’ve mostly been leaving the cafe at my usual time.
Anyway, I am really done being up now. See you in the morning.
I don’t do crafts either — I don’t even start them much less finish them. One of my sisters worked for a time for a company that made a lot of craft “tools” — paper cutters, special scissors, etc. And everytime she’d come home she’d bring me a bag — why I don’t know. I kept telling her to stop. After she quit that job she admitted that she never did crafts either.
I told her to go find a job with a company whose products I could use. But she’s now doing hearing aide batteries. Which I don’t need. Yet.
I red Reddhead first and I just finished Georgia 10. I love Reddhead’s analysis skills. She thinks in such an organized manner and yet she’s also funny. I’m pinning my hopes on Mr. Fitzgerald. If anyone could nail the ghost of Rosemary Woods, he could.
I clearly have problems typing on the laptop. Read, not red.
And thanks for the Link! I love the winter Olympics. I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t go out to Salt Lake for the last ones. But with all the security it just seemed like it would be a pain.
I know, I was so wound up last night that I tossed and turned for another hour before passing out. I should’ve stayed blogging..erm, I mean taken a benadryl. 🙂
I hear you. I think my schedule got screwed up when I live blogged that radio show the other night. I can stay up late reading and suffer no ill effects so it didn’t occur to me that listening and typing would be any different. But listening to political stuff gets me too worked up and I can’t sleep.
As it happens, I grew up near Akron, HQ of Goodyear in the 50’s and 60’s, and home of the Goodyear Airship Dock which was the largest enclosed space on earth at the time. We used to see the original Goodyear blimps flying over our neighborhood periodically when they were owned by the Navy.
Once as a pre-teenager I tried to build a negative blimp.
I figured that if helium was lighter than air, less air should also be lighter than air. So I worked up a very light framework covered with plastic dry-cleaner bags and tried sucking air out of it. I never managed to get it light enough to float before it crushed the structure.
Sipping my last one as well…tomorrow’s Liquid Mart and market day it looks like.
LOL Pic…hopefully very apropos for BushCo™.
Gotta grab a jacket and hat and take the Bu for a short walk in the rain. For a dog that loves the water, ie: swimming etc., she sure doesn’t like to be rained on – can’t say I blame her. Maybe we won’t…Ha!
OOOH! I get my pick of the goodies!!
Good evening, all — I’m still in a meeting, so I’ll just take a snack and go back to that.
To bad you’re in a meeting or I’d offer you a beer.
Thanks. Maybe later.
I don’t drink beer, but if I did it would probably be this 🙂
Yes, it is. And you have fine taste in the beers you don’t drink.
New Season’s have this beer and the other Black Sheep beers! I saw it and abotu flipped out. I LOVE Pyhon and me and my hockey friends joke alot about em. I bought some for Mr. Damnit. It smelled very tasty.

I’mma sharing those snacks with yaz 🙂
emjw, thank you so much for sharing Tracy and SuperSoling’s diary to WildernessWench, gave me a chance to go back and read those. Gotsme all reflecting and schtuff… misty-eyed, too.
Plenty of room and plenty of snacks. But do you really want to listen to this meeting I’m in?
Well it depends… do I have to take the peanuts out of my ears?? 🙂 Or can I just sit next to you and draw goofy pictures of the other attendees and sneak em to ya under the table? 🙂
< sound of glass bottles moving and breaking > Now Where does froggybottom keep the absinthe? I know that it’s here somewhere. Hmm.
Man Is my dial up suhhhhhhhhhhlow tonight. Hiyah, Boran!
I think Booman hides it in his boxers. 🙂
Hay Janet! Umm, maybe I’ll drink something else. My dial-up is llllaaaggggiiinnnggg tttooo!!!
Just came from the ‘beach’ cafe. Lots of nice photos in there.
Hey, look at all the sand you traisped in here, Olivia!!! 😛
Gawd Sharks versus the the Anaheim/Pixar-slash-Disney Mighty Ducks. Gawd the Sharks have been sucking hind teetsters too!
Pssst I think the new managed Disney/Pixar ducks should be renamed to reflect both …
The Mighty Woodies… but they won’t listen to me.
They’ve lost the last 2 games — allowing 10G! — and everyone in Ottawa is totally panicking.
“Mighty Woodies” I’m sure that’s what they call themselves anyway! 🙂
I haven’t had Centre Ice on in a few days.. Ten Goals?? Cripes. If that happened in Montreal, they’d be freaking rioting and burning effigys
As it stands the sharks are not even in the standings… but we have a few more games to be played.
I’m glad you enjoyed the beach cafe. How’s the weather been treating you?
And have you started your new job yet?
Weather’s been really bad this winter: Really warm (hovering around the freezing mark) so every other day it’s ice rain, then mucky slushy wet snow, and no sun. That’s why I loved looking at those beach photos!

I’ve been a little down lately — maybe the weather has something to do with it…
And you’re going to make a lot of people jealous with that view. Back in the bad old days when I worked in an office, I didn’t even have a window.
Hey, Andi, have you been froggybottoming all by your lonesome today? Sorry I haven’t been any help to you.
Hi — I just finished my book (not Lies, is that bad?) So I can play a while.

It’s a really good book to have in one’s library, though. I think I’ll want to be able to refer to it in the future.
I’m not finding Lies an easy read either. Not something to wait for the last minute to start. But so far its worth the effort.
Oh fine, both of you show up just as I’m thinking about going to bed.
Depending on what you wrote today, all might be forgiven.
Well, I haven’t yet, but a couple of things just happened that make me really glad to be a writer, so maybe I will get that writing done some time before the midnight hour.
Now I would have thought you would have already have decided that some time after — oh I don’t know — the first 10 books or so.
But let’s cue up Wilson Pickett anyway.
One of my all-time favorite songs.
btw, you will be having a guest at tomorrow’s diary and it won’t be the Blue Dot.
ooo, we loves surprises, we does.
Oh noooooooooo… Andi, Mondays and Tuesday afternoons I could more than likely open a Lunchtime Cafe (Westcoaster)
I know! When I see FroggyBottom… I’ll let you know that I can that day(?) Howzthatsound? They won’t be fancy… but they’ll “be”.
LOL
The only stuff I’m going to send you is the login info and some quick tips on doing a new diary.
What??!! No “BLUE” blue dot pictures? 🙂
Okay I’ll email you if I have any questions. I kinda sorta fiddled with creating boxes 🙂
I have to go now. Hockey game and dinner needs more eyeballing and homework needs checking.
smoochies and huggies
Have a good evening and I’ll email you in the morning.
Quick tips would be freaking cool!!!!
That url directions sheet like on the FAQ – I can only highlight copy that stuff cause it’s really really hard to “see”
So what I’ve started to do )tricks( is make my own “directions” with the tried and true crap.
well hell it won’t let me show you how I trick it up due to attributes or someother such thingy…
Sorry. I’ll figure it out.
Guh!
and even if I highlight copy – I still screw it up alot because it’s so hard figuring out where the direction ends and where to insert the text or picture.
It’s worse than alegbra, man!!!! 🙂
What I do is in my little diary notepad – but ) are the command starts and I leave a few spaces with an explanation of what the command is.

Kansas, Way back when I volunteered to do a day in December. I believe that it ended up being somebody’s day. I would like to host but couldn’t commit to a regular schedule. (During the day I get called to court upon little or no notice.) Perhaps on a Sunday.
Do you want to do Sunday’s regularly or do you want to join the froggybottom ranks?
I don’t believe that I could do every Sunday. Froggybottom ranks? If that means occasional duties, that would be better for me. (Sorry, it’s late here and my mind stopped working hours ago.)
That’s okay. We’re on the same time and it’s past my bed time.
Can you email me so I can send you some info?
Sure. Thanks. I hope that you’re enjoying the lovely heat wave (for January) that we’re having here in the east!
I’m betting that January is going to turn out be one of the warmest and wettest on record here.
Well I’m off to bed. Thanks for offering to help.
chips and salsa, ready to go.
I wouldn’t want to be the one that has to clean all this up in the morning!
No need to clean up IF you have a Labrador 🙂 They’ll scarf up anything you leave out once you go to bed.
If you’ve got three dogs, the five second rule applies — five second is all the time you’ve got to get any food that’s fallen on the floor before they do.
I forgot about them!
Ive got three “vacuum cleaners”, but they shy away from the salsa
My black lab… she one time scarfed down a paper place of nachos… plate and all. and whooaaababy those were some vicious Black Lab Farts! Daaayamn!
Our girl is kennel trained so she sleeps in there at night, but if we forget… it’s like the food on the floor fairy came by and cleaned it all up.

Hi all. Anybody still awake?
Yes — At least I am. How are you?

It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a line from an old song I like called Mississippi Mud. It just seemed like a good line for a cafe run by a frog.
Your day without net access must have affected you — you’re up so late! Nice to see you still here.
I’ve been trying to stay up later to see if it helps me sleep better. One reason I go to bed “early” is that I only sleep a couple hours at a time and then I wake up for 15-20 minutes, go back to sleep for hour or so, etc. I end up getting four or five hours of sleep a night.
Is this new or have you always done this?
I’ve always been a light sleeper but when I started peri-menopause I had a terrible getting to sleep and staying asleep (it might take me over an hour to fall asleep and then wake up every hour or so). Once I got through menopause, the getting to sleep problem went away and the staying asleep improved but I never sleep through the night and I’m generally completely awake by 5:00 or so.
That sounds familiar from a number of my friends who are going or who went through menopause. So how long are you going to try to stay awake tonight?
About as long as it takes to answer boran2 (done), you (almost done), and katiebird (up next).
Have a good night — and sexy dreams about ripped delivery men.
Wow! I’m impressed I thought you said it was bedtime an hour ago.
{{{Andi}}}
If I miss you — sleep well. And see you at breakfast!
I’ve been trying to stay up till 11:00 – 11:30 the last couple of weeks but I’ve mostly been using the “extra” time for reading which means that I’ve mostly been leaving the cafe at my usual time.
Anyway, I am really done being up now. See you in the morning.
LOL great song. And you’re right, it is a fitting saying for a cafe run by a frog, now that you’ve explained it. 😉
Thanks!
Some of you have seen crafts from our library websites, well I think this is one of the cutest crafts we’ve ever done:
Slick the Skiing Penguin
That is really cute! I was just wondering today when the Olympics start.
I don’t do crafts — at least, I don’t finish them. But, I like working on the web pages.
I don’t do crafts either — I don’t even start them much less finish them. One of my sisters worked for a time for a company that made a lot of craft “tools” — paper cutters, special scissors, etc. And everytime she’d come home she’d bring me a bag — why I don’t know. I told her to go find a job with a company whose products I could use. But she’s now doing hearing aide batteries. Which I don’t need. Yet.
9 more days.
OT but, have you seen the latest Fitz Report? Geogia10 has a story up @dkos and Redd’s got a nice review of it @ FDL.
It appears that VP Dick “Dick” Cheney and someone in the WH have gotten caught deleting E-mails…can you say evidence tampering?…I knew you could.
Enjoy
Peace
I red Reddhead first and I just finished Georgia 10. I love Reddhead’s analysis skills. She thinks in such an organized manner and yet she’s also funny. I’m pinning my hopes on Mr. Fitzgerald. If anyone could nail the ghost of Rosemary Woods, he could.
I clearly have problems typing on the laptop. Read, not red.
And thanks for the Link! I love the winter Olympics. I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t go out to Salt Lake for the last ones. But with all the security it just seemed like it would be a pain.
that I didn’t go out to Salt Lake for the last ones.
Me too. I love the winter Olympics.
Were you old enough to be watching in 1988’s in Calgary? I was sick with flu then but my favorite guys were Alberto Tomba, Italy
and Eddie the “Eagle” Edwards, England.
Here’s a great clip of an interview with Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards
Anyone still around?
(that mountain looks over my hometown in Az, I took it a few months ago during monsoon season. Click it for a slightly bigger version)
I’m still around although I’m trying to convince myself to go to bed before midnight tonight.
Just sat down half an hour ago to find only 1 beer left. That’s a bummer when you live rural. I made it out & back in 30 minutes!
Up, up and away–Bush’s beautiful balloon!
Bad dreams and lying machines in pieces on the ground.
Is that a flaccid Goodyear blimp?
It was a story some months ago.
Let that be a lesson to all of you!
