Cocktails first; music later?
Okay, but we’re not drinking those things Militarytracy had last night, okay? Hopefully should put them all in a biohazard bag…
Did I have one of those? I don’t even remember what they were? Maybe that’s why I fell asleep before 10:00 last night.
Hey I actually made a key lime martini tonight…pretty tasty. As in, tastes like more.
I’m hoping it will lessen the pain of working on this silly PE paper. π
Just the sound of key lime martini makes me wish I could drink without passing out after the second sip.
Now I remember … you made me a key lime martini. Did you slip something in it?
Only vodka…
I think it was the result of your being overstimulated by the thought of NDD in nothing but an apron — something, I would point out, that never happened.
More likely I was simply exhausted from an entire week of dealing with asshole lawyers.
Ha. One morning of that and I’d be finished.
I think he didn’t want to wear your pink frilly apron and there were no manly man aprons in the kitchen. George doesn’t need an apron.
Speaking of George, I’m worried about him and his human. It’s unlike them to be missing from the cafe.
Family Man left a comment in the froggybottom cafe I opened this morning at 6:30 and I answered it but he never came back.
I saw that. I hope he’s well (and George too of course).
You promised tunes so here are some tunes.

You’re so nice!
Is wedding bell blues the same song that was done by Marilyn McCoo and (whoever) long ago?
Oh fine I’m nice now since I am not revealing the truth about Sniff.
Laura Nyro wrote the song. The 5th Dimension, Marilyn McCoo’s group, did a cover of it.
Since when has anybody really wanted the truth? Bring the music over to the new cafe?
Wow! It seems that the new manager has kept up with the brisk pace of the cafes. Nice job.
Thanks. It’s been fun.
my post on my afternoon’s excursion I feel entitled to take the liberty of reposting here.
I met a buffalo today
And the Opening Ceremony: Buffalo Path, the Gathering; a tribute to family, community and culture.
Buffalo at West Acres Mall

The buffalo is to be painted by Black Pinto Horse (Monte Yellow Bird) over the next couple of weeks.

For more info and a look at some really great colorful artwork see New Projects scroll down to bottom for the story on this artist.
Are you going to back and take pictures of it after it’s painted? We had wolves all over town that different artists and civic groups painted. They were really cool.
Yeah, long as I’m still in the city I’ll probably make a daily photo of the progress on the painting. That should be fun. And of course one at the finish of it too.
We definitely need a picture of the buffalo after it’s painted.
Is that part of a larger multi-buffalo project? It kind of reminds me of the winged horses for the Wright Brothers 100th anniversary of flight…there are lots of those in different places throughout the outer banks.
Chicago did the cow town thing a few years ago.
I just stumbled on to the scene there, so I’m still trying to catch up. Check out the website, it’s very cool too. I’ll see what else I can find out about it.
I love community art projects like this. I even love seeing kids artwork. The world needs more beauty.
At Christmas the town puts little Christmas trees all over town, in front of businesses, and in the parks and kids from the elementary school decorate them in different styles. It’s really cool and helps to bring the community together a bit. Something we need more of for sure.
I figured you’d be the one to ask about this. Is there any way to make my 18 yo son’s purple volvo wagon look cool? ….. I thought not. Just musing.
Yeah.
Paint it yellow ;o)
What? You don’t like purple? Actually, it’s amethyst…honest, it’s in the manual. Apparently rich people call purple amethyst.
Purple is my color but Volvo wagons aren’t really good canvases.
Sorry
Yes, but they’re tanks…which makes it a good buy in my book. And it has ass warmers. Woo hoo!
Who’s car is it……Mommy?
See, I used to think ass warmers were ridiculous because my ass has the ability to warm itself most of the time. But on really cold mornings it feels great!
Does your kid have a cell number?
I really need to talk with him ;o)
He’d love to hear from someone else’s dad. His own dad mistakenly called his cell phone the other day, and neither of them recognized the other’s voice.
He really really wanted an El Camino.
Either that or call in an air strike and take pictures of the flaming Volvo. That would look cool.
So now you’re a comedian too. π
You know what he could do?
Get some cool wheels and put a surfboard on top.
That would be awesome. But think of the crappy gas mileage.
Geez.
Why not just give him a tricycle and make him come home by 5?
I tried that already. He’s trying to convince me that no one else has a curfew while he has to be home by 1 AM on weekends. He’s still in high school. I think I had to be home by 11 until I became a mother.
You’re not going to believe him on the “all the other kids’ moms are nicer and more lenient” line are you. Be strong.
Reminds me of a story.
Wanna hear it? Here it go…..
My first car was a 72 Firebird. It was FAST and I used to race it back and forth to the beach on Saturday nights. That’s where all the girls were ;o)
Anyway, on New Years Eve, my friend and I met two of the most beautiful girls who wanted to hang out and smoke a joint. YEAAAYYYY!!!
We’re having fun and for a shy kid I was doing pretty well but there was one problem.
Mommy dearest insisted I come home by 1am.
I can’t tell you how embarrasing it was to tell those girls I had to go home. It messed my whole life up ;o)
So before you make your kid come home too early i want you to ask yourself if you’re willing to take responsibility for that.
As a former kid, I’m counting on you to do the right thing.
And don’t listen to him either.
Thank you. You’ve just convinced me what the right thing is! And as the father of at least one daughter IIRC, you ought to thank mothers like me who keep a short leash on their handsome sons.
Like they can’t do anything before 1 AM that they can do after…which btw, was always my argument against my curfew.
Completely true. More sweaty sex happens at 3:15 in an empty house than at 2AM at a party. I need to exert some parental control these last few months while I still can. Just to flex my muscles a little bit and make me feel powerful.
Yeah but I turned out alright in spite of my own personal Brunhilda ;o)
If I listened to her all the time I might have been an introverted goody two shoes.
Whats worse is I could have even ended up driving a Volvo. Gasp!!
Instead of the cool Aerostar minivan you now drive.
Shhhhh!!
That’s a great idea. And he should be paying for his own gas anyway. Tell him coolness always has a high price.
He does pay for his own gas, which is why he’s staying home and helping me paint tonight. No money for gas. Sob.
He could paint cool song lyrics on it – like “Imagine.”
Funny you should say that – he has that bumper sticker. Cause if you have a purple car you must have bumper stickers. It’s the law.
See?
Now that’s original :o)
My brother and I painted the lyrics to “Imagine” on his Ford Fairmont station wagon for his last day of high school. It was a cool bonding moment for siblings who had spent a lot of time fighting. I wish we had pictures from that night.
That sounds nice.
When my parents got divorced, my Mom painted “just divorced, free at last” on our car.
No wonder I have some issues with Mom ;oP
Why didn’t I think of that? Oh yeah, it wouldn’t fit on my 1990 Ford Tempo.
Paint him?
Why paint him? Just put a suitcase handle on his back, wheels on his feet, and he’s a cousin of Milky White. Surely someone will give you 3 magic beans for him.
We don’t need no giants crashing down into the cafe.
Damn it’s cold! Whiskey, neat. keep ’em comin’…forget about the stars, send me to a beach
Lawd a mercy.
Peace
It’s so cold out that I think the water even looks cold. Where is it?
A couple miles in on the Kalalau Trail along the Na Pali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii.
There’s a side trail that starts here that goes to a falls…unfortunately, I don’t have any pix of that loaded.
Peace
Good, now that I know it’s Hawaii, I think it looks warmer.
I did not enjoy the part of the that Andi and I hiked. I’ve hiked wet, muddy, rocky trails before (think the Smoky’s in the summer) but nothing prepared me for the slog of the Kalalau Trail.
I hear you. Believe it or not, the only time I did the whole trail, which took 2 days (hiked in from the north end starting from end of the road beach as day hikes several times) I wore teva’s. It is wet.
Also have been to several beaches and coves along the coast via Zodiac’s on snorkeling excursions.
Most of the water along the coast is extremely dangerous, lots of rips and nasty currents. Got caught in one snorkeling and ended up about a 1/4 – 3/8 of a mile out before I could get out of it…came back in with the surf, not fun. Thankfully, I always use diving fins when snorkeling or, in all probability, I wouldn’t be writing this.
/Peace
We are fortunate that you were able to outlast the rip tide.
Is everybody ready for the limbo contest? Line up over on the right — because we’re (appropriately) going to head left.
Limbo?
That’s it. I’m done.
They didn’t have me in mind when they developed that whole weebles wobble but they don’t fall down theory.
You can hold the other end of the pole, and Second Nature can go under first.
Cool.
Get the Polaroid for that :o)
Or maybe just the digital camera?
You’re right.
That was so 1976
If we get a good shot we can give it to her kid and after a few threats on his part — he’s gonna have a 5 am curfew.
Hey, I finally found you guys. I can still limbo with the best of them, no matter how low Supersoling’s pole is. π
Nice. Really nice.
Here I was gonna let you use the wheelbarrow for the Limbo.
LOL. I talk a good game but a wheelbarrow is definitely needed for me!
Limbo. Gawd, now I am having the uncontrollable shivers as I flashback to every Bar Mitzvah party I was ever forced to attend.
They have limbo contests at bar mitzvah’s? Really?
Well as far as I’m concerned, going to a bar mitzvah is a trip to limbo. But they definitely did the limbo at the parties in the 60’s.
I think that limbo contests will be in hell.
Ok, first SN, then Andi, then Toni, then – where’s Jim? He needs to get in on the fun too.
And Cabin Girl — where did she go? No paper writing on Saturday night.
I’m here, I’m here…I have one more paragraph and I’m done another section. Four more sentecnes, and I promise I’ll quit.
Don’t finish prematurely on our account.
LOL
Don’t worry, I’ll take my time…
No pressure, just relax. It happens to everybody at one time or another.
Okay, now I’m done. Did I miss anything?
Do you think she’ll come before I have to open a new cafe?
Oh oh oh oh oh ahhhh, there she is!
Meg Ryan has NOTHING over you in the fake public orgasm department.
I’ve had lots of practice.
how sad.
Say, this place is a wreck…how about we move on to a new location?
Sore back.
No sense of rhythm.
No limbo
I vote for a hustle contest – Detroit style! Where’s that Stevie Wonder CD?
“My eyes won’t cry no more…
Other parts of the country call this dance the electric slide
After enough drinks everyone usually runs into each other as they turn (some turning the wrong way). But that’s fun too. π
Definitely chilly out in Silly Con Valley — clouds were too heavy over the hills to get any good photos of the snow dusting, so will try tomorrow afternoon.
Busy day today…did a lot of erranding, ran into a spot of hail (hail, hail, the gang’s all here…), put off one stop (Target) till tomorrow, now home for the evening…and need to get at least a couple loads of laundry going even though I’d rather just curl up under the covers and sleep for about 12 hours straight…
But before you go, you have to enter the limbo contest. see above.
to limbo tonight…I’d be happy to hold up one of the ends of the stick, if you keep the music low enough so I can sleeeeep….zzzzzzzzz……
HEY EVERYBODY
Let’s limbo over to the new cafe
Jim can you bring the music over?
