I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Janis Ian or any of the more brooding albums I have. They really don’t make me feel tense, it’s actually very peaceful – almost like I’m normal. 🙂
It looks like all up and down the eastern half of the country there’s a super highway of rain rain rain moving up from the Gulf. Around here it’s not supposed to stop for two more days.
Our rain moved out last night early on and it was glorious here today … mid 70’s, very low humidity and lots of sun. Too bad I was stuck in my cube all day having the last shred of my spirit sucked out of me. I was so tired when I got home I had to lie down instead of go out and putz in the garden. Things are looking perkier today, though!
Hope the next rains don’t take 4 more wks to come or we’re sunk…
Just a tiny napito, then watched KO and came up here. Have to go make a sandwich sometime soon for dinner though… another no cooking zone night.
Yeah, we had a very nice evening on the porch, dinner and talking about things, one of which appears to be that we are soon going to be getting another dog. Neither of us really wants a 3rd dog, but this little guy belongs to C’s boss, she got promoted, will be traveling all the time and selling her house… so he needs a new home. We don’t want him to have to go to a shelter, so we have agreed to take him at least on a ‘foster’ basis for a while, though I suspect we’ll end up keeping him unless Pepa and Rolly hate him… (which they probably won’t).
I think that’s great IVG. I’d love to get George a little brother or sister, but can’t.
Then again, George used to give his half-brother hell all the time, so it’s no telling what he would think of another dog. He’s learned with Cat not to mess around with her.
explode! People quote that around the office all the time to the point it scares me. No way I’m touching the red swingline though… that would get me into big trouble! lol
re: rain? We could have used more but this will get us by for now… grateful for small favors from Mother Nature. Just hope she’s not so stingy from now on out (yeah, wishful thinking!)
And was going to put a second post up at the b-thingie, but it was late, I was tired and blogger ate my post, so I said ta hell with it. So I’ll post this “semi-perspective” shot of Finger Rock here…
finger, lol! Will have to hunt a better perspective pic of it so you can see better, but thought I’d posted some of those a while back, oh well. Enjoy your cleaning, then come over here and do some for us, hehe.
I know, I know… if I didn’t get my mind mushed into goop during the day making a living, I’d have time to really study the html… maybe over the holiday weekend next week? Oh yeah, that’s right, fireworks and grilling will get in the way.
Old lady plant, hahaha. I explained myself last night on that one. Oh and remembered another pink flower that hasn’t bloomed yet “Purple Hyacinth Bean Vine” (the pods are purple, not the flowers). So there.
You know, if you send me one of your blog posts, I can convert it to html to show you how it would look and how easy it is to do w/ the text and photos. Then you can use it as a template? Just a suggestion, so don’t feel pressured. 🙂
I might just do that, because absolute image positioning is what I really need to learn first, the basic text formatting I think I can handle. I’ve tried analyzing the html blogger generates but it looks like there’s all sorts of proprietary type stuff in there (at least looks like it to me) that makes no sense to me.
I won’t even do that until you’re safely out of FCH, so bear with me until then, then I’ll be full of questions. I DO want to get my own template written though, as I’m already tired of that standard blogger thing.
Mr. Nature just called from a train hurtling through Chicago and asked me, ME, if I could Google a map and tell him what stop to get off at that’s nearest to his hotel. Pffft.
if he had time to call you to ask that, why didn’t he just call his hotel and ask them? Oh, would that have made sense? Yeah, I live with one of those men too…
I hope the weather doesn’t get too woolly for you! We’re still jonesing for that kind of storm, but given the beating enough stuff got on Sat, I’ll pass for right now till stuff is bigger.
WXPN is just kicking the tunes tonight. They just busted out 25 minutes of newly released live Allman Bros. Eat a Peach music. You Don’t Love Me Anymore… My mind is singed.
Now, they are busting Graham Green funk leading into the GD Hour. WXPN is commercial free Univ of Penn music and the best station bar none in the country. Stream it if you dare.
Let’s see, Row Jimmy of Wake of the Flood, with an echo on the guitar, and on Jerry’s mike. Definitely had Mickey and Billy on drums, and Brent on keys.
Jerry still has a voice. Sounds like 82-85. I’ll try to nail it down better as it goes along.
feels like a definite pre-coma (meaning pre summer 1986), Jerry is hitting all the triples, and just ripping riff after riff. Definitely has a summer 1985 feel to it.
Jerry still has a voice. that cracked me up! Question is though, could he remember all the words in the right order? We were listening to one of the old Dick’s Picks shows last week from about 1979 and he was already messin up the lyrics… but that stuff from Wake of the Flood sounds fantastic. Love that period of stuff.
yeah, he had the lyrics, another indication that it is pre-coma.
Now they are doing a cover of Johnny B. Goode, which is still consistent with 1985, but might indicate an earlier date because by ’85 it was usually an encore.
The warden led the prisoner down the hallway to his doom
I stood up to say goodbye like all the rest
And I heard him tell the warden just before they reached my cell
Let my guitar playin’ friend fill my request
Let him sing me back home a song I used to hear. Make my old memories come alive.
Sing me away and turn back the year. Sing me home before I die.
I recall last Sunday morning when the choir from off the street
Came in to sing a few old gospel songs
And I heard him tell the singers there’s a song my mother sang
Can I hear it before you travel on.
Sing me back home a song I used to hear. Make my old memories come alive.
Sing me away and turn back the year. Sing me back home before I die.
Acoustic, but not necessarity studio. Pretty cool, with Donna.
and get some food in me. Hope to make it back for the FBL late night, but we’ll see if I still have any energy left after the Daily Show. Ewww, Lance Armstrong is the guest, not my idea of fun. Guess that makes me un-American huh?
You folks have fun and behave yourselves if I don’t see you again later tonight!
Went well O, it’s gonna be a block by block kinda gig as the city won’t pick it up…I had a couple suggestions for them tho….<chortle><evil grin>…¡Hola Manny!…
Got some very tasty music for yawl tonight…The Jazz Crusaders back b4 they became just The Crusaders: Eleanor Rigby…You Tube link so dial up warnings…check it…:{)
the trash/recycling collection co. that is most common up here will make a special p/u for a small chg….no limit, within reason on quantity…so the folks around me are going to put it all at one person’s house and split the cost…couple $’s each… thankfully, they live about mid-blk so it’s not a long haul, plus it gets re-cyc’ed into mulch-win/win…:{)
worked for a couple of hours on Sat. morning, then drove up to the Phx area from saturday afternoon through sunday morning, then vegged out at home for the rest of the day on Sunday. u?
Helga is feeling frisky tonight. She wanted me to warn everyone.
I’ve got to run and get the kitchen cleaned.
I’ll check back later.
Party pooper.
well you said he stinks.
I’m listening to Janis Ian and trying to get used to Firefox so I can cancel AOL. She always makes me feel like burning my bra – or killing a man.
I hope you don’t have any Ani DiFranco — that could be really dangerous.
Why, yes I do! I really like some of her songs, and really hate the rest.
Have you listened to any more of Kirsty Maccoll? Tropic Brainstorm is a great feel-good album.
I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Janis Ian or any of the more brooding albums I have. They really don’t make me feel tense, it’s actually very peaceful – almost like I’m normal. 🙂
I love the song “Jesse” but if I’m going for broody, I mainline Suzanne Vega.
SN said I stink and she wants to kill a man.
I was taking a break from the kitchen, but I think I go back now.
You’re far too polite and compliant for me to kill. It has to be a jock or one of the boys who felt me up in the girls bathroom in 7th grade.
Polite yes, but compliant? Nah. That is unless you don’t want me to be. 😛
We’re you intentionally so ironic? Because that’s really funny! I’m not compliant – unless you want me to be. 😉
Of course I was being ironic. Me polite and compliant!
Bullshit madame, bullshit I say.
In high school … 🙂 A band geek!
It must have been a mistake – band geeks don’t do that! Maybe those crazed Canadian band geeks do.
A band geek? The ultimate embarrassment. 🙂
wearing underpants, weren’t you?
I was going to say howdy everyone, but I’m not sure just what I just stepped into here?
Hi FM, um…. how’s everybody doing?
Don’t be afraid, IVG. All the Janis Ian songs are over now.
(Note to self: don’t come in here when certain artistes are singing…)
Andi, quick go put on Ladies of the Canyon will ya?
we listen to? We take requests here at the lounge.
How’s it going IVG? You didn’t step into anything.
Just a normal night at the FBL. 🙂
I would say that your rain has arrived here but since ours has never really left that can’t be right.
It looks like all up and down the eastern half of the country there’s a super highway of rain rain rain moving up from the Gulf. Around here it’s not supposed to stop for two more days.

Hope the next rains don’t take 4 more wks to come or we’re sunk…
Oh oh … you didn’t take a nap did you? 🙂
Sorry to hear about your rough times at work … spirit sucking sounds nasty!
I saw you popped in late last night! We were waiting for you, but we gave up. 🙂
Just a tiny napito, then watched KO and came up here. Have to go make a sandwich sometime soon for dinner though… another no cooking zone night.
Yeah, we had a very nice evening on the porch, dinner and talking about things, one of which appears to be that we are soon going to be getting another dog. Wait! You can answer that later … you should go get something to eat! But I want to hear more …
I think that’s great IVG. I’d love to get George a little brother or sister, but can’t.
Then again, George used to give his half-brother hell all the time, so it’s no telling what he would think of another dog. He’s learned with Cat not to mess around with her.
Who the FUCK designed cubicles? I mean really – they must have been sadistic.
Moved right on from f-ing to FUCK — you sure you weren’t listening to Janis Joplin?
Was it enough rain to get you out of the hole or do you still need more?
Sorry about the cubihell — maybe watching the movie Office Space two or three times in a row would help.
I ordered a couple of things from ThinkGeek and they have THE red swingline stapler.
She’ll be putty in your hands! 😉
and LOL some more.
I already have. I said bullshit upthread.
And rolling around with the pigs in the mud doesn’t count.
I’ve always got the old stand by of cat pee.
You’re not blaming the wet bed on Cat now, are you?
🙂
You were on such a roll up there too.
LOL again, O!
Damn, I guess I am too polite.
And was going to put a second post up at the b-thingie, but it was late, I was tired and blogger ate my post, so I said ta hell with it. So I’ll post this “semi-perspective” shot of Finger Rock here…
do the right clickie in Firefox…
Thank you for elevating the level of discourse around here.
That really pretty IVG. And it’s called Finger Rock because….
finger, lol! Will have to hunt a better perspective pic of it so you can see better, but thought I’d posted some of those a while back, oh well. Enjoy your cleaning, then come over here and do some for us, hehe.
bigger
And Bells of Ireland … and wait — I think there’s old lady plant in the left background there! 😉
(And you need to start using the html!)
So there.
Your post last night. 🙂
You know, if you send me one of your blog posts, I can convert it to html to show you how it would look and how easy it is to do w/ the text and photos. Then you can use it as a template? Just a suggestion, so don’t feel pressured. 🙂
LOL on the pink!
you must be Canadian or something…
I might just do that, because absolute image positioning is what I really need to learn first, the basic text formatting I think I can handle. I’ve tried analyzing the html blogger generates but it looks like there’s all sorts of proprietary type stuff in there (at least looks like it to me) that makes no sense to me.

🙂
I don’t mind at all … And I’m almost done w/ FCH … probably tomorrow and Wednesday for wrap up!
And when you switch back and forth blogger does put stuff in there that you don’t want or need.
I’ve also got some links to free blogger templates — I’ll pass those along when you get to that point. You can modify from these as well.
I’m on my way out right now… (see below, lol). Thx for all the help Olivia… w/out you, dada and Andi I couldn’t have even gotten this far!
Yeah, I live with one of those men too…
Good lord, I never thought of that. Give me a thunk on the head.
I’ve got to finish the kitchen.
Be back later.
It’s been storming here and my dial-up connection has gone to shit so I’m giving up for the evening.
Night all.
I hope the weather doesn’t get too woolly for you! We’re still jonesing for that kind of storm, but given the beating enough stuff got on Sat, I’ll pass for right now till stuff is bigger.
You, Jim and the pups stay safe and dry, ok?
WXPN is just kicking the tunes tonight. They just busted out 25 minutes of newly released live Allman Bros. Eat a Peach music. You Don’t Love Me Anymore… My mind is singed.
Now, they are busting Graham Green funk leading into the GD Hour. WXPN is commercial free Univ of Penn music and the best station bar none in the country. Stream it if you dare.
Bless you, Booman. All the local stations are country or top 40.
Let’s see, Row Jimmy of Wake of the Flood, with an echo on the guitar, and on Jerry’s mike. Definitely had Mickey and Billy on drums, and Brent on keys.

never mind, that was The Promised Land.
Now they are playing someting totally different.
Sing Me Back Home.
Acoustic, but not necessarity studio. Pretty cool, with Donna.
Damn I’m good.
Grateful Dead 10/28/85 Fox Theater, Atlanta
ROW JIMMY
PROMISED LAND
Heh.
and get some food in me.

How’d it go?
the late shifts here…awright.
Went well O, it’s gonna be a block by block kinda gig as the city won’t pick it up…I had a couple suggestions for them tho….<chortle><evil grin>…¡Hola Manny!…
Got some very tasty music for yawl tonight…The Jazz Crusaders back b4 they became just The Crusaders: Eleanor Rigby…You Tube link so dial up warnings…check it…:{)
… when you provide all this great music … thx! :*
So what are you going to do w/ the waste if the city won’t p/u?
the trash/recycling collection co. that is most common up here will make a special p/u for a small chg….no limit, within reason on quantity…so the folks around me are going to put it all at one person’s house and split the cost…couple $’s each… thankfully, they live about mid-blk so it’s not a long haul, plus it gets re-cyc’ed into mulch-win/win…:{)
Best of a bad situation and all that.
You have two more questions to answer still … 🙂
what’s up? not too much here, just relaxing and enjoying the cool evening after a couple of monsoons rolled through the city.
Good to ‘see’ ya 🙂 … and good to hear that you’re enjoying a cool evening. Did you have a good w/e?
worked for a couple of hours on Sat. morning, then drove up to the Phx area from saturday afternoon through sunday morning, then vegged out at home for the rest of the day on Sunday. u?
… here too. It was excellent. 🙂
Hey everyone! I’m going to put up a 24/7 and close this place down. Just move on over when this one gets full.
Night all. :*
:* backatchya … 🙂
be still my young, liberal heart. :-)~
Oh yeah, Manny, it’s as exciting as a kiss from your mom. 🙂
Night you two.
see Family Man isn’t the only one capable of ruining the mood around here. G’night SN 🙂
I do what I can. I’m really going to bed now. No snorer again tonight. 🙂
