it’s not a plague of locust. Someone will invaribly take that as a sign that we don’t need to work to make sure that future generations have a habitable planet because the rapture is immanent.
Way, way back in the day, we used to go out to the abandoned quarries (coal) and have great all-night keggers. I suspect that local cops knew but the quarries were out in the boonies so we weren’t bothering anyone and by the time we left in the morning, everybody was sober.
b) we have power outages, spikes, and drops so often that all the computers are on UPS, all of which beep like mad when the power goes out. And once it’s out, I’m the kind of person who lies in bed half-asleep, half-awake waiting to hear it go back on.
Luna frequently “barks” in her sleep. Which sound like a strangled yelp. She also whines sometimes. Who knows what she is dreaming about.
Albert gets the hiccups a lot. Thankfully they are silent. When he dreams he gets twitchy wiskers and his mouth moves like he’s chewing – we figure he’s dreaming about the world’s biggest carrot.
I’ve just finished my sushi rolls, and a glass of wine, and am getting some formating work done on my Magazine. How’s Thursday treating everyone so far?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Fresh-picked corn. I used to get my oven up to temp (I bake it in the husk) before I’d even pick mine, because the second you pick it it starts converting its sugars into starches.
Yeah, really just picked corn cannot be topped. Ours will be a few hours old.
Jim (husband) grew up having corn that way all the time — his dad had a huge garden and kept it going until the day he died. He was very picky about the varieties he grew — I don’t think I’ve ever had any corn that came close.
I am enjoying, I think, the single most delicious cup of coffee I’ve ever had. I’m starting to feel much better now that the antibiotics have kicked in and Andi so nicely cleared my lungs first thing this morning. My boys will be happy to see me up and around and not asking them for ice water and would you please clean the kitchen, fetch me my inhaler, and pick up these used Kleenex from around my feet.
On second thought, maybe I’ll just stay sick a day or two longer…
I’ll tell you, if you’re looking to strengthen your abdominal muscles try coughing your lungs off for a week. I feel like I’ve done 4000 crunches. Only 12 billion to go.
I was the only Pinker there of 60. Imagine SIXTY people of various Peace Organizations and homes.
Many asked about Medea’s arrest and attending not only lifted my spirits but also helped with a ton of anxiety I had about that yesterday.
I would have had pictures to share, as the area was lovely, outside a library by trees and fountain, but the amazing signs and the mosiac of people in attendance. but… my camera I took wasn’t charged… some kid unplugged it to recharge their batteries… ack.
There was a female pedestrian screamer and one guy flipped us off and one bicyclist told us “freedom isn’t free”… I HATE that saying cause it’s phoney baloney and the price of freedom isn’t dead people or sacrifice it’s VIGILANCE AGAINST CORRUPTION …
Well, it’s true. Freedom isn’t free. But the price of freedom is eternal vigilance against all enemies, domestic and foreign. So you are exactly right, it’s not how many soldiers die for freedom, it’s how many citizens stand up for it.
The problem is, those slogan shouters think that all they have to do is drive or cycle or whatever past, yell their slogans, and they’ve done their job. Well, I guess in a way they have . . . it’s just that their job is counterproductive to actually producing any freedom.
Any updates on Medea? Has she been charged with anything yet, or are they just holding her in the Think Tank (kind of like the drunk tank for thinking people)?
I just heard her and Diane Wislon on Democracy Now! It just ended.
They discussed the fast , 24 days now and the Iraqi Parliment in Jordan have invited CodePink to return to Jorand to discuss the 20 point Peace Plan. This is HUGE!
Yesterday I was sahking and crying most of the day… due to anxiety and stress about Medea’s arrest… and the vigil helped a ton! But now this… gawd… I want to get on a plane to Jordan 🙂
I guess I’m naive but I thought her goal was to be arrested, DJ. Now people are talking about her and she’s getting on the radio etc. That’s a good thing, right?
Actually Medea’s goal is to stop this war. People don’t go out with the goal of getting arrested. But they do undertake that risk to make their voice heard.
That’s assuming you’re not on the No Fly list. CodePink could have put you there, or hey, who knows, you could be there because some TSA official had to make his quota.
Although I suppose you could take the train up to Vancouver and fly from there . . .
Good morning Andi! How goes it?
Good morning Andi and Psi.
Hey there, old man! 😛
Hi there youngster. 😛 back at ya. 🙂
You still suffering from invasive species?
Yep sure am and will be for awhile.
it’s not a plague of locust. Someone will invaribly take that as a sign that we don’t need to work to make sure that future generations have a habitable planet because the rapture is immanent.
Nope, plauge of relatives, but locust are pretty close to a description. 🙂
we lost our power last night about 1, got it back about 3.
How many more weeks before you go back to school?
Someone getting tired of my early morning presence? 😉
I’ll be back at school in about 5 weeks or so.
you mean when you go back to school you won’t get up and visit with FM and me anymore?
Andi you know these kids at school. They’re too busy partying to deal with the old folks. 🙂
Get up at 5 AM? Definitely not on the weekdays.
However, I may stop in to say goodnight to you guys at this time on the weekends… 😀
Ah, the time of partying on approaches.
Way, way back in the day, we used to go out to the abandoned quarries (coal) and have great all-night keggers. I suspect that local cops knew but the quarries were out in the boonies so we weren’t bothering anyone and by the time we left in the morning, everybody was sober.
a) What were you doing up at that hour?
or
b) If you weren’t up, what problem did the lack of electricity cause?
b) we have power outages, spikes, and drops so often that all the computers are on UPS, all of which beep like mad when the power goes out. And once it’s out, I’m the kind of person who lies in bed half-asleep, half-awake waiting to hear it go back on.
Ah, so to hear that. I’ll I had to deal with last night was the dog snoring.
When George sleeps he hiccups. Never had a dog that did that.
When he’s not hiccuping, George will do the little bark and whine every now and then. I always figured he’s dreaming of chasing something.
Albert is probably dreaming now of you chopping up all his vegetables for him.
Hi all.
I’ve just finished my sushi rolls, and a glass of wine, and am getting some formating work done on my Magazine. How’s Thursday treating everyone so far?
Hi keres. Just waking up and doing fine.
I just glanced through from last night and saw Albert. Glad he’s feeling better.
He’s still a bit run down, but overall much more like his old self than he was even yesterday.
But, I’m afraid he’s going to hate the sight of me soon because I have to medicate him three times a day.
Animals are like kids in that they don’t understand it’s good for them.
Then again, I whine when I have to take some medicines. 🙂
Well, it won’t present me with any sushi rolls but I do think it will give over some just picked sweet corn from a local farmer.

Yes, you must get the water boiling in the kitchen, go down to the garden, pick and shuck it, and race it into the pot.
Nothing like it.

Morning SN. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better.
To be on the safe side though, have the boys wait on you for another week.
I think you’re onto something, FM. Do you think you can try that with your houseguests?
I think the house guest are doing that to me. I need to figure out some way to turn it around. 🙂
that running the suction tube down your throat and attaching it to my shopvac worked so well.
It was brutal but seems to have worked well. Now I can yell at the kids without coughing. I can’t wait for them to get up so I can try it out.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Anytime they’re around cough your head off. Milk it for all you can get.
Opps, I forgot you’re a mother and can’t do that. 🙂
I’ll tell you, if you’re looking to strengthen your abdominal muscles try coughing your lungs off for a week. I feel like I’ve done 4000 crunches. Only 12 billion to go.
speaking of not being well — how’s Ben?
He was feeling punky when he went to bed but I won’t know for sure until he gets up in like….3 hours!
Well, here’s hoping the both of you are feeling just fine by the weekend.
I’ve got to go prep for a conference call.
Take it easy and take bunches of naps.
See ya later.
Gotta run and get breakfast for everybody.
Check back in awhile.
I’ll have a double vanilla latte and a croissant. Or a pop tart.
Enjoy your breakfast, everyone. It’s nearly mid-night here and I’m off to bed.
Luna’s already belly-up and asleep on the couch – time to follow suit (only I’ll opt for my bed).
Night all. Have a good Thursday. I did.
Have a good night keres.
Boran here you would be more likely to get pop tarts.
That or grits. 🙂
What exactly is a grit?
I’m glad you asked. It ground corn and it’s never a grit, it grits. 🙂
Mostly eaten around here with salt, pepper and lots of butter. I think it’s one of those things you had to grow up eating to enjoy.
Good morning everyone … 🙂
Well I am trying my best to educate people on some of the finer foods of the world. 🙂
Pimento cheese sandwiches … 🙂
LOL
Well it was either grits or Pâte à Crêpes au Chocolat.
Grits were easier. 😛
I think it’s time for a chocolate break. 🙂
I knew that would get ya. 🙂
Second wave is up and it’s back to making breakfast.
Back later.
Umm, maybe I’ll just have my usual bialy and hummus.
Geeze ya’ll are always making me google stuff. 🙂
That actually sounds pretty good.
Sorry! Bialy
MMM…pop tarts.
I think I have over 50 recommends for my dKos diary and it still can’t crack the rec list. It’s amazing how big that site is these days.
Went over and rced booman. Hope that helps.

anyways… I’m stoked 🙂
Hi DJ. Glad to hear there were so many different people there and that you’re stoked. 🙂
Hey there Family Man, how are you?
Hi DJ, I’m doing pretty good.
Got that camera recharged yet? 🙂
it will be ready for next week 🙂
Hey CodePink Portland will have a table at the Neil Young CSN No war concert this friday :0)

Excellent, thanks for this and the update below. I’ll go check DN! out.

Unfortunately that doesn’t make it any less stressful.
Thank you OMIR 🙂

Update from Democracy Now
How much longer do we have to look at those soggy Cheerios?
I’m just sayin…
Me thinks this be a hint?
I could replace it with grits. 😛
Back in a minute.
Froggy Bottom Early Happy Hour here
