…drumroll please – presenting the Tampon String
OK, that’s a new one. :0

For now, I’ll stick to what I was having, please.
I’ll have Chocolate Cake instead.
And with that, I’m off to watch the Spike Lee/Katrina thing on HBO.
Had to look up Frangelico. Where’s the chocolate? Amazing that it would taste like it.
Enjoy the Lee-movie. I saw blksista’s entry yesterday, but lack HBO-access.
No chocolate in it, but it tastes just like it. The Lee movie is excellent.
I’ve already cried several times with the kleenex nearby.
Hello folks! How is your Tuesday night going? Don’t drink too much, now! 😛
hope the non-fulltime job life is treating you well.
I suppose it is. I spent most of the day brushing off the rust on my chessplaying (resulted in a ton of very loud cursing that had my parents disturbed) and playing some Counter-Strike: Source (a newer version of CS to which I am still not accustomed to). Not very productive…but it was nice to be able to piss away a few hours without worrying too much about it. 🙂
My granddaughter just called asking for permission to stay an extra few minutes at her friend’s house. No, I told her, you have to be home at 6 to get ready for dance class.
“Can’t I stay just ten extra minutes?”
“No, you have to be home by six.“
“But –”
“SIX.“
She’s going to think I’m an evil person. Well, I paid good money for this dance class.
Geez, do I sound like my parents or what??
Man Eegee thinks I’m a horrible person now because I revealed that I like Pace picante sauce.
Well, some people like French’s yellow mustard. What are you gonna do. (Me, I think I’ll check out that salsa recipe he whomped me with.)
in need of a tastebud transplant? You betcha! 😉
In that recipe you posted, did you really mean to use four tablespoons of garlic powder? I realize you like your salsa incendiary, but a quarter cup of garlic powder seems a bit much.
amend to your liking, but in my family there was never such a thing as too much garlic 🙂
I’ll admit that it’s a difficult thing to have too much garlic, but that sure seems like a lot unless when you say “a large can of tomatoes” you mean a #10 can like the restaurants use (the one the as big around as your hand span).
Come to think of it that’s probably about the right amount of salsa . . .
looked in my cabinet, don’t have any of the bigger cans, but I would use two of the 14.5oz cans of dized tomatoes. Use one in the blender and the other mixed in the bowl.
I’ll have to go see how that translates out into fresh tomatoes. Every so often they go on “sale” for $1/lb at the local megastore, which is when I start thinking about pico de gallo. I csn also use plum tomatoes for stuff like that, which aren’t all that good for sandwiches.
Oh yeah, totally evil Omir, making somebody go to her dance class. She’ll be scarred for life. 🙂
That’s why therapy was invented.
Yeah, if I didn’t force her to do fun stuff what would she need to go to a therapist for when she grows up?
I’m just fulfilling my obligations as a parent, that’s all.
That’s how I look at it: My parents made me neurotic, now it’s my turn to do the same for my kids. 🙂
Wow,
Check the site meter! Atrios linked to Booman’s post, traffic off the charts.
I just did. That’s great.
that Katrina documentary was powerful. I hope it makes it to DVD or other formats so it can be shared by those without HBO. It was storytelling at its most heartwrenching, bare form.
Even CBtE couldn’t stop watching it, and he cried at a few points.
the images, interviews, music, everything together perfectly. There’s no response to such a blunt failure.
Walking to New Orleans has been a favorite song of mine since long before Katrina, and the images he put wth it during the closing credits were just wrenching.
I liked what he did with the frame and asking the people to give their names and home again, it personalized the tragedy all over again.
I liked that too.
I just got done watching and feel wrung out, but what a great documentary.
that’s a good way of putting it, I feel the same.
Izzy, I’ve been meaning to mention that I’m quite impressed with one of your blog’s writers who’s put up some ace diaries on torture over at Big Orange – Avila. For those here who might be tempted to otherwise shun Big Orange, her reporting could just change one’s mind.
There aren’t many times I wished I had HBO – this seems to be one of those times. I too am wondering when/if they’ll release a dvd or some such thing and if so, when.
This looks like the correct place to do some pimping:

The cat has a fairly recent mp3 available for download, Impeach Bush. I’ve been a fan of his since someone turned me on to a tune called “Neocon Luv.”
Jeez it’s dead here tonite.
So it goes.
Catch y’all on the flip.
