I got a fax from the Park cafe with the info on the lunches and I’ll put that together for posting.
But they deny that they can arrange picnic seating and say I have to contact the park. So I’ll see if I can find a number for the Park. I guess it would be too much for me to expect that they have picnic pavilions.
Just think how difficult life would be if you looked like her. All those people staring at you all the time. Men falling at your feet. Showering you with gifts. Making fools of themselves over you.
She’s recovering nicely – still has lots of oral surgery, tooth repair, etc., as well as a rhinoplasty. We’re suing them. Creepy, sleazy insurance guys.
She missed just over a week and has been taking advantage of some tutoring sessions to catch up. But she’s still having a heck of a time navigating to classes from her off campus house. She’s got a handicapped placard but there are no spaces. She’s had to walk more than a half-mile with a walking cast on.
I’d be very surprised if he’s over 6’4″ — they always add 2 or 3 inches to hosts’ height so they can pretend the celebrities are taller (and they ALWAYS add 3 inches to their heights).
Okay, I looked it up — there are reports of him being 6.6, but he claims to be 6.4. I got him mixed up with Letterman who’s supposed to be 6.2. Either way, you often notice the celebs not standing next to them or on the same step. The walk to the seat is always strictly choreographed.
Hmm, that might not be a bad idea! Or celebrities I’ve met and how tall they are!! Wait, that won’t work — every single one was short. It would get really boring.
OH — the first win I’m happy about! The Scottish actress, Kelly MacDonald, for The Girl in the Cafe. She was great in that movie. I also liked her fringey flapper dress.
Exactly! What’s with all the beige this year? It’s really not flattering. But at least her hair and makeup were nice. No stringy hair, 70s sausage flips, nude lipstick and black eyes. I hope never to see any of those trends again.
I’m currently sitting in my hotel lobby (free wi-fi, yay!) in Avon, Colorado. Our balcony here has a sweet view of the mountains (though not now, it’s dark).
I’m happy to report that all of the feedback I’ve gotten on my “Impeach Bush” bumper sticker has been overwhelmingly positive (including a cheer and thumbs up from a guy in a truck with an ‘Army of One’ bumper sticker!!).
Will do. I’ve got a couple of good ones already, but haven’t gotten them off my camera yet. I think on Tuesday we’re going to head up to Rocky Mountain National Park, I’ve been there before but only got to check out about 1/3 of the park, so I’m sure some good stuff will come from that.
I’m probably going to bed soon, I haven’t quite adapted to this whole mountain time zone thing yet. I’ll be back in occasionally over the next week though!
Yep, Vail is just about 10 miles away. We passed through it on the way here. I guess that you can bike from Avon to Vail, it’s about 10 miles and there is a bike path / lane for nearly the whole way, so we might do that tomorrow (though I’m not sure if I can bike yet, I was just able to walk on my ankle for the first time yesterday).
since we just got back from dinner, but I did get home in time to catch one of the new Apple “I’m a Mac/I’m a PC” ads; hilarious! Went to the Apple website to see the other two, and they’re great too.
Got to go get the bed made up; we washed the mattress pad as well as the other set of sheets today…hope everyone has a great evening…
I missed the gowns … I missed the speculation on height … I’m a loser! OH well, we had nice gentle rains instead to entertain us here. Heyas to MaryB and EJ, been ages since I saw you two around these parts… but being in absentia myself of late, what can I say? Great to see you! Ok, effusiveness aside … it’s great to see you.
And here’s a gratuitous Sphinx Moth shot … more on them at the home space on the b-thingie, should that prompt anyone in that direction, lol.
Night all, may the new week bring only good news … like I’m expecting it, but you never know!
Oh and Manny, if you read this, thx for the t-shirt link! Though if I ever buy anything from Hot Topic, you have every right to sic Bud on me….
And by the way, thanks for the remarkable shot of the beautiful insect, even though, as I’m sure you’re aware, it looks at first glance like an angry yellow guy wearing a mask and raising his right fist.
I wish I had your skills and your knowledge. Since I’ve moved to Arkansas I’ve seen the [imagine a Hoss Cartwright voice here] gosh-durndest bugs you ever saw!
Yes, Colbert lost to Barry Manilow … oops, was that a spoiler?
John Cobert is compalining cause he lost to Barry Manilow. The man is too funny!!!!
That was the funniest schtick of the night.
Yes it was!!! I loved it.
John Colbert? That’s got to be one hell of a twisted love child between Jon and Stephen. 😛
oops did I screw up the name? LOL Shows how little I watch TV
eeeeeeewwwww
oh — that was meant to be funny? 😉
I’m going to be a good scout tomorrow and call some hotels to see if there are any packages available.
packages for??????
weekend packages for the october 7 meet-up in chicago. Wanna come?
I will be in SF the following weekend if I don’t back out of that trip because it is so close to elections. LOL
OK
I got a fax from the Park cafe with the info on the lunches and I’ll put that together for posting.

We need a rain backup.
Couldn’t we just eat in the cafe?
There’s a restaurant attached to the cafe (I think the cafe is just carry out). I’ll make sure we don’t need to order picnics in advance.
If we trust forecasts, we should have a good idea of whether it’s going to rain or not several days ahead of time.
true
I agree with you btw on the time for the cruise.
I like that red dress the bleached blonde had on.
isn’t every blonnde in hollywood a bleached blond? LOL
I shouldn’t be catty, I’ve been out in the sun too much and my hi-lights are now making me look like a bleached blond.
<gasp> Grandpa Munster died?
will you look like Jean Harlow (excluding freckles)?
lol
I wish …
I’d settle for Jean Harlow’s daughter.
Jean Harlow had a daughter?
Marishka Hargitay from Law and Order.
I thought she was Jayne Mansfield’s daughter?
confused – jayne mansfield. oops.
Just think how difficult life would be if you looked like her. All those people staring at you all the time. Men falling at your feet. Showering you with gifts. Making fools of themselves over you.
Would you really want to put up with all that?
No- that’s why I hide in the house all day. It’s a bitch looking the way I do.
or granddaughter. Even her daughter would be rather long in the tooth by now. LOL
oh
so when Andi said I might look like Jean Harlow she meant I would look like a dessicated corpse.
Maybe
ROTFLMAO!!!!!
would I say anything mean to you — a lawyer who towers over me, someone who could both whump my ass and sue it?
shhhh I wanted everyone to think I was a midget.
I could merge you. But I’d need one of my colleagues to sue you since I’ve never set foot in a courtroom.
Merging sounds vaguely dirty.
you WOULD think that.
You were the one who said you wanted to merge Andi. How else could I take it?
I said I could merge her. Not that I wanted to merge her. (No offense Andi)
LOL!!!! so you are 6″5 or 7’2?
I really want to straighten Kiefer Sutherland’s tie.
I didn’t know he was so short.
I think they’re all short
Do you think they have to cast really short co-stars on 24?
No, they build the set at a slant. They had to do that with every movie redford was in. LOL
How short is he.
WAIT!!!!!
Don’t tell me.
The scene with Barbara Striesand on the beach had her standing in a trench. LOL
Probably. Or maybe Kiefer is always up towards the camera so that he looks taller.
I’d rather straighten(LOL) something else
lol
Night everybody
Sweet dreams Andi!!!
How tall is Conan? He towers over Bob.
Conan is 6’2″ I think. He is actually tall. The rest of Hollywood are shrimps.
And how tall are you?
5’8″
Where are you in the show?
5’5″ — but I seem taller.
It’s the shoes … 🙂
well I have to say that, fashionwise, the emmy’s were a disappointment. No really great gowns that I saw.
and a bad host added to that made it a bad show.
There was no excitement. Not that the Emmy’s are ever THAT exciting. But this one seemed particularly yawn worthy.
I’m still on Conan’s monologue! Grrr
You’ll have to tell me if you disagree on the gowns. Maybe it was that nobody who won had a good gown.
What is Jean Smart in these days? She was front and center in the audience.
SHe’s the evil president’s wife in 24.
She’s the new Sherri?
Exactly. 🙂
BTW
How is your daughter doing?
She’s recovering nicely – still has lots of oral surgery, tooth repair, etc., as well as a rhinoplasty. We’re suing them. Creepy, sleazy insurance guys.
Yep, sue their asses.
How much of her semester will she miss?
She missed just over a week and has been taking advantage of some tutoring sessions to catch up. But she’s still having a heck of a time navigating to classes from her off campus house. She’s got a handicapped placard but there are no spaces. She’s had to walk more than a half-mile with a walking cast on.
I didn’t realize she was back at school already. That’s good!
I’ll never again complain about all the handicapped spaces 🙂
I will. There are like 8 handicapped spaces at my gym!
Wow, you’re hard.
Conan is 6’6″ BTW. A giant.
I’d be very surprised if he’s over 6’4″ — they always add 2 or 3 inches to hosts’ height so they can pretend the celebrities are taller (and they ALWAYS add 3 inches to their heights).
You’re right – 6’4″ – but with his hair he’s 7’2″.
LOL — that hair’s gotta go!
BTW, just saw Martin Sheen — he’s not more than 5.7
Okay, I looked it up — there are reports of him being 6.6, but he claims to be 6.4. I got him mixed up with Letterman who’s supposed to be 6.2. Either way, you often notice the celebs not standing next to them or on the same step. The walk to the seat is always strictly choreographed.
ah, the magic of hollywood.
Izzy, I can see you doing a photo diary that’s a tour of the stars’ homes.
Hmm, that might not be a bad idea! Or celebrities I’ve met and how tall they are!! Wait, that won’t work — every single one was short. It would get really boring.
Izzy and the 7 dwarfs …
OH — the first win I’m happy about! The Scottish actress, Kelly MacDonald, for The Girl in the Cafe. She was great in that movie. I also liked her fringey flapper dress.
I loved her in Gosford Park. I didn’t see the movie she won for.
The only thing I didn’t like about her dress was that I thought she’d look better in something colorful.
Exactly! What’s with all the beige this year? It’s really not flattering. But at least her hair and makeup were nice. No stringy hair, 70s sausage flips, nude lipstick and black eyes. I hope never to see any of those trends again.
Browns, goldish browns and beige. Maybe a little taupe. Yawn.
How is everyone tonight?
I’m currently sitting in my hotel lobby (free wi-fi, yay!) in Avon, Colorado. Our balcony here has a sweet view of the mountains (though not now, it’s dark).
I’m happy to report that all of the feedback I’ve gotten on my “Impeach Bush” bumper sticker has been overwhelmingly positive (including a cheer and thumbs up from a guy in a truck with an ‘Army of One’ bumper sticker!!).
I can’t believe it’s really you. It’s been months. How’ve ya been? And what are you doing in Colorado?
Yah, it has definitely been awhile…last time we chatted I think the Cards were in first and Pujols was having a ridiculous year.
Oh wait….
Doing pretty well. Better now that I’m not at work!
I’m in Colorado for vacation purposes. It’s been about 2 years since the last time I went out west, and the mountains were calling me.
How have you been Mary?
yeah, vacations are good. I hope you take lots of pictures to share with us.
Will do. I’ve got a couple of good ones already, but haven’t gotten them off my camera yet. I think on Tuesday we’re going to head up to Rocky Mountain National Park, I’ve been there before but only got to check out about 1/3 of the park, so I’m sure some good stuff will come from that.

Have a great week.
I won’t be back here until next weekend. I’ll try to remember to check back to see if there are pictures 🙂
I can’t remember – is Avon near Vail?
Yep, Vail is just about 10 miles away. We passed through it on the way here. I guess that you can bike from Avon to Vail, it’s about 10 miles and there is a bike path / lane for nearly the whole way, so we might do that tomorrow (though I’m not sure if I can bike yet, I was just able to walk on my ankle for the first time yesterday).

As if being put in an isolation tank weren’t preferable to watching the Emmys — let alone what you did instead!
And by the way, thanks for the remarkable shot of the beautiful insect, even though, as I’m sure you’re aware, it looks at first glance like an angry yellow guy wearing a mask and raising his right fist.
