I looked at the poll last night and it looks like it was split down the middle for slug and turtle sex. I see a bright future for you in wildlife reproduction photography. 🙂
that my macro photos of butterflies are going to take a back seat to sensationalism. I have never managed to get a photo of hot monarch-on-monarch action, nor did it ever particularly interest me, or even really occur to me.
You forget I live down in the south. Our bugs are always fully clothed and have, ahem, relations behind the leaves. You’ll never see it down here, and I think you have to go to Atlanta to get to a triple X bug sex store. 🙂
There was a praying mantis hanging out on my door all day yesterday. I think he was praying for some, erm, relations – even though if I remember correctly the female bites off his head when it’s over.
Wow, it’s really cold and rainy out today so I did chores at a record pace. Brrrrrr.
Nicer than this morning’s shot? Can’t wait. Now you’re getting smart. Save the best ones. Thanks for the nice compliment. There are a million things I should be doing. OK, after this cuppa coffee I’m off again.
That`s a very nice picture, & it just reminded me of a bush like that in our front yard. The berries in your pic are exactly the same only your pic is nicer. The berries have no pit, & when very ripe their skin is quite fragile, so they`ll burst open easily.
My brother & I would gather a bunch of them & roll them into a long thin hose we had, We would hide the hose in the grass & hide near the corner of the house. When an unsuspecting person from the neighborhood would come by on a bicycle we`d blast into the hose like a peashooter & hit them with half a dozen soft berries. It was like the bush was spitting berries at them. Thanks for the memories & obviously your posting of thumbnails is a “splattering” success
Just cruising the nets before I get started on homework (ick) — have an article analysis due Tuesday in International Business, on some sort of political economy article, so I found a piece in The Economist about how they’re going to raise taxes, but not sure which one(s). It’s the first one, so hopefully I’ll do okay — he gives full points for the first one anyway, but then lets people know what they need to work on.
Back is doing a bit better today — still sore, but not the shooting pains of yesterday. I may actually live a couple more days… lol
Heading out of town for the weekend later today — so will probably not be in for Random 10; here it is early:
Desert Rose — Sting
Tell Me Something Good — Rufus & Chaka Khan
Amish Paradise — “Weird Al” Yankovic
Let the Music Play — Shannon
Bassoon Concerto in A Minor: Larghetto (comp.Vivaldi) — Academy of St. Martin in the Fields
Goodbye My Lover — James Blunt
Love Song for No One — John Mayer
Arizona — Mark Lindsay
Jet — Paul McCartney
Ex-Girlfriend — No Doubt
If I don’t make it back in, hope everyone has a great weekend…
As usual, a fine list, with the possible exception of “Arizona.” I thought I’d forgotten that song. It used to be one of my sister’s favorites, as I recall.
Hello froggies
I’m using the sunrises and sunsets to think of those who are political prisoners and those held without trial in detention, praying that they can see one without bars in the way. Feeling totally inefficient in most other ways-more despondency than I can remember but I’m taking it as a sign that the old habits are breaking up and once this is over I’ll be done with it for good. But I’m so impatient-seems like I’m not having much success so far with getting where I want to go.
On the positive side I got to work this morning entirely on my bike and the free shuttle, no driving like a worker-bee drone!
A Friday funny, sent by my sis.
Have a nice day everyone. I`m off to the museum.
Just when you thought you knew everything !
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory
over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured
English soldiers.
Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned
English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the
future.
This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and
the act of drawing the longbow was known as “plucking the yew” (or “pluck
yew”).
Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and
began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated
French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew!
Since ‘pluck yew’ is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant
cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative
F, and thus the words often used in conjunction with the
one-finger-salute!
It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the
longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as “giving the bird.”
IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO THE FRENCH TODAY!

Good morning Andi.
I looked at the poll last night and it looks like it was split down the middle for slug and turtle sex. I see a bright future for you in wildlife reproduction photography. 🙂
The slug sex picture was stolen but the turtle sex pic is all mine. However, I think Olivia’s humping bugs are much better.
I can see a theme going here for the FotoFair. 🙂
It probably won’t surprise you that Olivia and I have already discussed that.
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit. Can’t decided if your minds are far seeing or just in the gutter. 🙂
That’s the Andi and Olivia I know.
I would include SN in that, but I can’t see her having an impure thought. 🙂
that my macro photos of butterflies are going to take a back seat to sensationalism. I have never managed to get a photo of hot monarch-on-monarch action, nor did it ever particularly interest me, or even really occur to me.
Gorgeous photo this morning! I love the pale pink colour of the sky and water … and the composition. 🙂
And what’s wrong w/ the gutter FM? 😉
Hi Olivia.
I agree about the picture.
The gutter? I like it down here. 🙂
are you going to have for the fotofair? 🙂
You forget I live down in the south. Our bugs are always fully clothed and have, ahem, relations behind the leaves. You’ll never see it down here, and I think you have to go to Atlanta to get to a triple X bug sex store. 🙂

LOL … 🙂
Between slug sex and praying mantis I see a pattern running here. I think in this vicinity it’s safest to be an amoeba.
ok … you might have extenuating circumstances. =:)
Oh you’re so kind but you shouldn’t have — especially since I sort of primed the compliment pump. 😉

This is a test to see if I can remember how to set up a clickable thumbnail. Practicing for the fotofair.
This is a shot of wild honeysuckle berries. I know, I know… it’s not insect sex (say that fast 5 times), and I apologize for that. 🙂
Andi, I love today’s pic.
for the lack dirty doings since it is such a lovely picture (wonderful light).
I actually have another shot that I like a bit better but you convinced me to hold it back for the photo fair. 🙂
Wow, it’s really cold and rainy out today so I did chores at a record pace. Brrrrrr.

It’s cold here but the sun is out so I like it. Crisp fall day.
Have a good one.

I wish TFSM could fix my dialup… it’s slow as molasses this morning, bad connections, cut off, sign on again. I’m off like a pair of dirty sox. Later.

make that “they’re going to raise taxes in Britain“…don’t want to freak anyone here out…
