Oh well, you have to take the geography that you have. Considering how flat Detroit is, a few bumps would be kind of nice.
I’d love to see and feel that little cria, too. She looks so soft! I love alpaca yarn, but only once have I gotten to feel the wool on the beast itself. And humming! I would never have expected a cria to make that kind of sound.
I like my humpy-bumps a lot. I’m pretty well addicted ot living in the hills — I love the constant variation in the topography. And, of course, I love the woods that grow on them. (post-thanksgiving thanks)
Speaking of which, I’m off to go enjoy them. See ya later.
Actually, I”m going back to bed to sleep a little longer – what a luxury on this foggy morning. No going to work!
I do have to get some letters in the mail today or I’ll turn into a pumpkin (students applying in droves this time of year – got to boot them out in to the cruel world).
Morning, CG, Hope the day for you and the cabinolos was a good one.
Having fed the herd, I’m off for a nap at this obscenely early hour (for a nap, that is). Still “in recovery” from yesterday, I guess, but I’m in a multi-animal sleep vortex and I will either fall face down on the keyboard, or find a horizontal surface in the next 5 minutes!
My neighbors across the street have lived here for generations. I’m staring at their Xmas decorations. When did they put them up? At midnight? Is this normal Southern behavior?
Not really. I’ve never understood why people put up Xmas decorations right after T’giving.
We usually wait at least a couple of week before Xmas. I think it’s pushed more by the stores. Even before T’giving I saw stores with Xmas decorations up.
that are going to spend all day today putting up their decorations. I won’t put any up until next week probably. I’m very glad that the neighborhood isn’t out beating up other consumers on black Friday, but they are making me tired just watching them today 🙂
In our family it goes the whole gambit. My sister is reserved and put up candles in the windows and a Xmas (I can’t spell this morning – the thing you put on your door) and that’s it. My s-i-l goes all out with everything.
I used to really decorate when the girls were small, but not so much anymore.
Hey, if I were you, I’d claim “nasal healing process” and take a nap with a good book this afternoon to get away from them.
I have now escaped my children (okay, they’ve escaped the evil cleaning nazi they call mom by cleaning the iving room and putting away all their crap) until later this evening. Woo-hoo, what to do, what to do…
And glad you finally got to listen. I love that mix, it’s like my secret weapon. I can be in the worst mood ever, and by the 3rd song, I can’t help smiling and bopping around the house.
Morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was wonderful. 22 people over at my aunt’s house — we were short 3 people who didn’t come in this year. 🙁
My cousin is a chef and she made the turkey and two different kinds of dressing (vegetarian and non-vegetarian). We had lots and lots of side dishes and as usual there were too many pies. Did I just say that? What am I thinking? There are never too many pies.
So lots of leftovers. We’ll all go back over tonight and eat the same things except we’ll be dressed more casually. My out of town guests are up and about, in the back yard talking to the little girls who live next door. I expect they’ll know the entire history of my neighbors within 10 minutes. 🙂
I’ve wondered if it also didn’t hint at the disaster awaiting if sales weren’t there. Kind of like the “Black Thursday” disaster that triggered the Great Depreeion.
I hope I’m not unique in this respect. It would make me very sad to think that I was the only RU here at BT that had a nice Thanksgiving. Or that I was even in the minority.
I know I’m not unique in my own RL — I’d say the majority of people I know have very nice Thanksgivings either with family that they like or their close friends. Probably the vast majority.
I started to say pond dwellers but decided to include lurkers. Because it occurred to me that the way many active people around here complain about everything in their lives, I may be in the minority.
Don’t challenge my brain so early in the day, maryb.
It’s a good point that we tend to focus too much on the ways our lives disappoint us rather than the ways it makes us happy. I’m most contented when I train myself to recognize how wonderful my world really is. That gratitude journal is still a life changer for me.
find a sympathetic ear so they are more likely to want to talk about their disappointments and unhappiness when they do so that the amount of that kind of talk you get here is actually a function of the warmth and kindness of many of the people.
I got up extra early, then went back to bed and slept extra late. It’s quiet and finally sunny (!) after 4 days of gloom gloom gloom. We have big plans today involving the town dump and the dog park. And leftovers.
I truly loved our town dump/recycling center/community news center up north — which also served as a dog park!
Glad you’re seeing sun, as well! We’re finally seeing a little gloom here for a change, thank Gaia.
Doing ok, thank you.
I’m investigating the possibility of new digs up north & I’ve been offered a temporary spot; trying to decide if I shouldn’t remain with Mom for Christmas & still harboring my little infection.
‘Course, Andi’s photos just make my day.
Methinks we humans just enjoy variety, SN — with tolerance variable.
Me, I’m startin’ to feel like I’m in Teletubbyland, where it’s always sunny & bright.
::groan:: The damn yard guys right outside my window woke me up this morning. Tell me, what kind of state do I live in where a man can’t marry another man whom he loves but yet it’s perfectly legal to fire up 12 leafblowers first thing in the morning the day after Thanksgiving? That ain’t right.
Leafblowers, imho, are incredibly assinine devices. My former landlord used to fire his up to blow leaves from the ditches; then a decent breeze would pick up & they’d all fly straight back into the ditches — no fossil fuels required!
Here’s hoping you can take back a bit of rest later in the day.
Thanks, ww. Best and restful wishes right backatcha, although I know it’s often noisy down there on the Beach, with a chaotic kind of energy in the air.
I just hope those lawn guys weren’t married! Whenever I see gay or lesbian couples holding hands, my wedding ring forms small cracks and my marriage is threatened.
But seriously, the idiots who run my district hire grounds crews to dive their huge mowers and lead blowers right past our windows during the school day. It’s another wasted half-hour.
Figured I’d sneak in this cafe before the next one goes up…
Had a great day yesterday — only no-show was my youngest niece who decided to go to her boyfriend’s folks. And I am now the freakin’ GREAT-AUNT of a TEENAGER — my oldest great-niece turned 13 this week! Man, do I feel OLD…
The bad part about going elsewhere for holidays? No leftovers…or maybe that’s the good part; with just the two of us, it makes no sense to get a huge turkey, but maybe I’ll take a look at turkey breasts at the grocery store and pick one up. Did quite well on the food front — I had a small serving of everything and NO SECONDS. 🙂
Need to brave one mall today 🙁 — I have a pair of shoes I have to exchange, and the spouse wants one more shirt that he’s fallen in love with.
Good to read everybody this morning! Wish I could stick around for a chat but there’s always something going on. Big hugs to all though!
No work for this civil servant today-except in my own yard for a bit. Oh and I have to go to the co-op tonight but there are usually refreshments; 3 weeks ago it was vegan White Russians.
If you’re a Hendrix fan and know how to get onto internet radio my pal Daniel is running his annual 6-hour Jimi’s b-day special on KBOO-FM midnight to 6am PST-recordings, interviews and live music.
but I suppose some of you
poor souls have to work today.
Morning Andi.
Ugh! That would be me, heading in soon.
I hope you have a quiet and peaceful day.
Morning, Andi. That’s another great “foggy mountain” picture. It was so good to see the little alpaca pictures this am.
It’s more like “foggy somewhat large bumps” but thanks.
The baby alpaca was adorable. I’m jealous that keres gets to touch that new, new curly black coat (or will be once all the birth gunk is gone).

Good morning Andi, Ask and Kidspeak
Hope ya’ll are fine today.
Hi, FM. Hope you are fully recovered from T’Day.
Hi Kidspeak.
Recovering would be the word. How’re you doing today. Enjoying your day off?
Bye FM. Hopeful is howling; time to go.
See ya Andi. Enjoy the walk.
Actually, I”m going back to bed to sleep a little longer – what a luxury on this foggy morning. No going to work!
I do have to get some letters in the mail today or I’ll turn into a pumpkin (students applying in droves this time of year – got to boot them out in to the cruel world).
Have a good sleep and see ya later.
Slept in this morning…was up late watching movies.
Did everybody have a happy turkey day?
Hi CG.
T’day was good, how was yours?
It was good, although rainy. There’s soemthing to be said for that deep-frying the turkey thing. 🙂
We’re cooking our own turkey tomorrow (maple-brined) just so we can have our own leftovers for sandwiches.
And it’s sunny here today! Yee-ha. Must go for a walk with the dogs.
Yep fried turkey is pretty good. Enjoy the walk.
I woke up a while ago, but it was comfy and warm in bed that I lounged for a while longer.
Have a good nap!
Then I slept and had the same wake up experience. It was so warm and snuggly and no inlaws in there with me………mmmmmmmmmmm. I just got up too.
Morning Tracy.
It does feel good to sleep late, doesn’t it. 🙂
“blankey”.
My neighbors across the street have lived here for generations. I’m staring at their Xmas decorations. When did they put them up? At midnight? Is this normal Southern behavior?

Yes it is. Lots of people put up their lights on turkey day and then take them down after new yers or at least they did in NC
Hi RF, I just got back. The thing is, I don’t think it’s a purely Southern thing. I think you can find that all over the country.
True and I am always the one who does nothing or does it all 2 weeks before christmas and take it down on New years. LOL
Woo-hoo, what to do, what to do…
Psst.
And glad you finally got to listen. I love that mix, it’s like my secret weapon. I can be in the worst mood ever, and by the 3rd song, I can’t help smiling and bopping around the house.
that leads to neighborhood sex?
Morning all!!!! I am at work checking in. So far it is really slow but who knows what will happen once they awake from their turkey stupor. LOL
Morning Refinish.
How’re you feeling today?
Morning!!! I am feeling great!!! things are getting busier here so I am sorry for the slow respones. LOL I hope you and Fmom are feeling better.
No problem. I’m feeling better, but FMom isn’t. It will just take time.
Glad to hear you are finally over you stuff. Remember slack when possible. 🙂
Trust me I will!!!! LOL This next year should be an easy one compared to the last and then all hell will break lose again in 08.
Good Morning! I hope everyone had a beeuteeful holiday despite any inclement weather.
Morning Bob.
How was your T’giving?
Better than expected. Which was a nice surprise.
Gotta go. Everybody have a good day.
Good morning all. I’m glad that Thnaksgiving is over.
Morning Boran.
Too much Thanksgiving huh. 🙂
Morning everyone! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was wonderful. 22 people over at my aunt’s house — we were short 3 people who didn’t come in this year. 🙁

You didn’t mention the really important part — who won the charades.
they decided not to do charades and play different games. I’ll save my ideas for next time.
I would’ve shown up if I knew the charades had been shelved.
Hi Mary.
Glad to hear you had such a good T’giving. You’re right though, never enough pies. 🙂
Glad you had a wonderful day, maryb. You may be unique among our pond-mates that way..
As for me, today I see yet another lovely, evocative image from Andi & take my own, thankful little holiday.
Can’t imagine why today is ‘Black Friday’. Sounds like a commemoration of some type of cataclysm.
Hi WW.
I’ve wondered about “Black Friday” also and the only thing I can figure, is it gets the stores in the black instead of red.
Bingo.
You mean I’m finally right on something? 🙂
Your dumb act was exposed long ago, FM. 😉
Oh, you know. You cultivate this folksy, aw shucks I’m just a naive little southern boy image – when really you’re sharp as a tack. You’re busted.
Hah! Got you fooled don’t I? 🙂
I’ve wondered if it also didn’t hint at the disaster awaiting if sales weren’t there. Kind of like the “Black Thursday” disaster that triggered the Great Depreeion.

RU?
registered user.
I started to say pond dwellers but decided to include lurkers. Because it occurred to me that the way many active people around here complain about everything in their lives, I may be in the minority.
Hey look. Complaining about the lawn is important stuff. 🙂
Don’t challenge my brain so early in the day, maryb.

find a sympathetic ear so they are more likely to want to talk about their disappointments and unhappiness when they do so that the amount of that kind of talk you get here is actually a function of the warmth and kindness of many of the people.
Excellent! That’s good news.
I’m always thankful you enjoy my pics but I’ll be even more thankful when you won’t need them any more.
I’ve always loved them anyway, as you know.
How was your walk today?
The temps are in the low 50s and the sun is shining and the sky is bright blue.
(And I do know that but I’d prefer you were enjoying them back where you can get the same joy and pleasure from looking out the window that I do.)
I got up extra early, then went back to bed and slept extra late. It’s quiet and finally sunny (!) after 4 days of gloom gloom gloom. We have big plans today involving the town dump and the dog park. And leftovers.
Frankly, SN, that sounds like a great day to me.
I truly loved our town dump/recycling center/community news center up north — which also served as a dog park!
Glad you’re seeing sun, as well! We’re finally seeing a little gloom here for a change, thank Gaia.
I must be getting spoiled, because at first I really welcomed the gloom and cold, and by the third day I was getting pissed and needed the sun.
It sounds like you’re becomming Southerized.
Bite your tongue, Courtney Beauregard.
I bet secretly you even say ya’ll. 🙂
Oh, now you’re just getting mean and vindictive.
Nah not really. I just like to see transplanted yankees who finally realize the zen of ya’ll. 🙂
I still use ‘y’all’ & I’ve been out of North Carolina for five years!
How are you feeling today, FM?
Better WW, thanks. I think the medicines are finally kicking in.
How are you feeling today in Teletubbyland.
Doing ok, thank you.
I’m investigating the possibility of new digs up north & I’ve been offered a temporary spot; trying to decide if I shouldn’t remain with Mom for Christmas & still harboring my little infection.
‘Course, Andi’s photos just make my day.
So glad to hear you’re feeling better.
The Zen of Ya’ll. I see a book in the making. Maybe followed by The Zen of Pimento Cheese, The Zen of Sweet Tea, and The Zen of NASCAR.
I think they’ve been written. Anyway people down south don’t need the books. They’re born with the zen of ya’ll. 🙂
Methinks we humans just enjoy variety, SN — with tolerance variable.
Me, I’m startin’ to feel like I’m in Teletubbyland, where it’s always sunny & bright.
Ok, that is just wrong.
LOL !!!
I’ll bet it took quite a few hits on the hookah to get him into that position ..
ROTFLMAO!!!!! I love it!!!!!
You are a sick, sick woman.
I hope this is the pack’s leftovers. Sure, it must be. Yeah. The pack’s. Gotta be.
Morning Indy.
Put your speakers in the windows and blast them out. Payback. 🙂
Yeah, I s’pose I could.
IF YOU LIKE PINA COLADAS
AND GETTIN’ CAUGHT IN THE RAIN
IF YOU’RE NOT INTO YOGA
IF YOU HAVE HALF A BRAIN…
Sweet, sweet revenge.
I’d call it a state of insanity, Indy.
Leafblowers, imho, are incredibly assinine devices. My former landlord used to fire his up to blow leaves from the ditches; then a decent breeze would pick up & they’d all fly straight back into the ditches — no fossil fuels required!

Thanks, ww. Best and restful wishes right backatcha, although I know it’s often noisy down there on the Beach, with a chaotic kind of energy in the air.
You know it, honey!
At least the leafblowers don’t blow continually.
😉
See you on the upside.
I HATE LEAF BLOWERS!
THEY ARE A TOOL OF SATAN!
DEATH TO LEAF BLOWERS AND THE SCUM WHO USE THEM!
Hey, A.G., this is kinda fun.
I’m off to see the newest member of the family (another great nephew).
Enjoy Andi.
George is whinning to go out, so I’ve got go.
See ya’ll later.
I’m headed out, too. ‘Bye, y’all.
Figured I’d sneak in this cafe before the next one goes up…

Okay, time to get moving…
