Morning Miss Andi!!! I voted for our own sweet Olivia!!!
And thanks for voting! 🙂
Thanks Andi!
So I guess this is as close as any of us will ever get to know what it feels like to vote republican… multiple votes. 🙂
What’s that saying, “vote early and vote often” … it does apply here. 🙂
I voted, and now I’m going to bed.
Asta mañana.
sweet dreams Keres!!!
Thanks for voting.
How are you today Andi?
Just fine — though with all the sick folks at BT, I’m just waiting for the germs to come slithering through the ether to reach out and get me.
LOL Well, I am not contagious and haven’t been in a while. I am back to about 95% of my old self and loving life again. Now I have to start planninga nd coordianting all the many holiday events. I have one on the 5th and another on the 10th.
I voted!
Good morning Andi and refinish…and g’night keres!
I am so sleepy this morning. I had one of those nights where I was sleeping but my mind wasn’t. Ick.
Morning Cabingirl!!! I had one of those Sunday night. I am going in late today as I have an errand to run this am that can not be put off. I am also planning what I am going to cook for the two events listed above.
What are you making?
I haven’t decided between Kaluha cream cheese brownies or double chocolate chocolate chip brownies. I will also make some cheese krispies and maybe meat balls for the second party.
poutine is not on the menu … 🙂
Good morning refinish!!!
Those brownies sound delish.
LOL I have no idea what poutine is. I assume it is worse than the nasty fries from last night. LOL Morning Miss Olivia!!!! I hope your blog wins!!! I am still waiting for that first podcast.
Gotta get my voice back in shape … 😉
Poutine is that nasty dish from last night … lol
Gotta run … have a great day there.
LOL You keep coming up with excuse. I think we will have to call you and record the conversation to get you on line. LOL
a while back … maybe we could get FM online as well. That would be kind of fun.
And poutine does look worse than it tastes … but you have to make sure you get it from a good place. Not all poutine is the same — you want the right fries, the right cheese, and especially the right gravy. 🙂
LOL I would love to doa conference call with you both and any others who are willing. we could use skype which is free and I could record it for the show.
well I googled poutine. It sounds better in writing than the picture looked. If I am ever in canada I will try it. I will try any kind of food at least once.
Where my body was half-asleep yet uncomfortable, and my mind was totally awake. Tossed and turned all night, got up for drinks of water and to stretch, put a band-aid on my big toenail that’s been wanting to fall off for weeks but is hanging on by one tiny and painful strip of skin, pet the cats, straighten up the kitchen, take more drinks of water, pee etc…
I sense a nap later today.
I wish a nap was an option today, but I have too much stuff to get done. Of course, that’s probably why I didn’t sleep well.
And with that, I’m off to work. Catch you all later…
than a couple lately. Since having asthma problems I have gained about 20 extra lbs. My guess is from inactivity. It’s hard to feel wild about doing anything when you can’t breathe. Now that I’m getting a full nights sleep due to the nose surgery and my asthma has begun to abate more dramatically I have to up my daily doings. I went and went all day yesterday. I even made new christmas decorations, little ribboned lit trees for my porch, and it required cement mixing. Was still ahead of the sleep curve, still restless for about half of last night. Have asked Santa for an elliptical trainer.
You should post a pic of those trees you made, they sound interesting!
I asked Santa for a treadmill, but if my car poops out again his money might just have to buy another used car.
I have to take some photos of two of my dogs too today who I hope become someones Christmas present. Two girls, almost a year old and obedience trained. Outdoor Christmas ornaments here are mostly artificial. I didn’t understand at first. Being from Colorado, you trim your pines and then you decorate for Christmas. Here though fresh things spoil outside because there isn’t a lot of cold or coolness that you can rely on and then if it rains it all becomes a soggy mess. Some people had these artificial front doorway trees last year but they cost a fortune to buy, like $70.00 a piece. So last year after Christmas I bought two small artificial trees and two sets of 100 lights for a total of $8.00. Finding burgundy pots was a little bit of a challenge but I found some for about $4.00 a piece. My ribbon is what cost because it’s wired and a little sheer so the lights can shine through….that cost me $6.00 a tree. I think they turned out nice though and they cost me $28.00 and some elbow grease instead of $140.00 and my VISA card ;).
Gosh, I remember when we were all waiting for those puppies to come. I’d love to see a pic of those trees. (and the puppies, for that matter) Sounds like you got very creative.
I’m very glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better. It sounds like you’re doing quite well in fact. I know what you mean about the weight. I was doing so well, lost almost 10 pounds, got to feeling poorly and packed them right back on. If I could figure out how to loose as quickly as I gain I’d be a bazillionaire.
Hey, wanna go for a walk? I’ll start south from Pa, you can start north from Tx and we can meet somewhere in Tennesee around March. We’d both be skinnier, that’s for sure! Then we could go to KnoxvilleProgressive’s for a diet lunch. Ah, hell now I’m hungry. Again.
I hate when that happens. Last night I had my featherweight cat Boo (who is almost 18 years old) sleeping on my kidney as I slept on my side. Boy did I wake up with one sore kidney. (she’s relentless)
A hit and run this morning.
Got an appointment and overslept, so have to start getting ready. Voted for Olivia very early this morning. Wished I knew which one she was on the results.
Gotta go. See ya’ll later.
Hi Bye FamilyMan!!! Hope the appointment goes well.
Here’s some wild asters that I had intended to post in the fotofair. That tiger lily pic is absolutely breathtaking. Olivia’s photos truely touch the soul. Don’t forget, you can vote for Olivia once a day… I’m off to cast today’s vote.
Great Picture!!!!
Thanks! Sometimes I get lucky. 😉
It is much better than the pictures I usually take. That is why the camera stays buried in the computer bag. LOL
I love asters b/c they are flowers that valiantly hold out when the weather starts turning … tough and beautiful. 🙂
Good morning to you!
Hi Olivia. Thanks. I love wildflowers. You’re right, the asters, small as they are, are often almost the last ones standing. I hope you caught my comment somewhere above about today’s lily picture… absolutely breathtaking. I love your vision of the world. Micro. We live in a fractal universe and that always amazes the bewillikers out of me. (fractals are those pictures where the closer and closer you look the more complexity you find… based on math equations I think)
I love fractals too … here’s a pretty one for ya.
oh wow that’s a really nice one! Thanks! I’m just knew you’d love fractals too.
Good morning all. Chilly 40’s here in the Hudson Valley but should warm a bit. It’s about 3 weeks and counting until the boran2 boy’s birthday extravaganza, a bowling party. Watching young children attempt to bowl is always interesting.
I like it when they close off the gutters so no matter how the kids throw that ball, they score… as long as it makes it all the way down the alley. You’re right, it’s great to watch.
I like your flowers … (wait for it) … (you know what’s coming) … (yep, here it is) … but horse pictures would be better.
Hi Andi! Yes maam, right away maam. Hey, I caught Keres diary on the weekend about her little Humbug. Oh, that’s a whole lotta cute. I ooo’d and aaah’d out loud. I want to cuddle that little Humbug. I never knew that alpacas hum, did you? My horses don’t hum, but I think Bella growled at me the other day.
It usually doesn’t make it down the lane. The attendant runs back and forth for 45 minutes.
and hello. Just passing through. Life very busy. Hope y’all are doing wonderfully.
I was wondering how you were doing … you’ve been missed. 🙂
It’s been crazy, and doesn’t look like abaiting for a bit. I probably won’t be doing much more than lurking through to about the first of the year.
Ha ha…..the anchor just cut in. Oh how well I remember full coverage of every fucking word that fell out of his mushroom cloud mouth on all news channels. Thank you Jesus I don’t have to go through that shit anymore!
Hope all you little froggies are staying warm and thawed!
Cold here and we’ve had a bit of snow which of course freaks folks out-we in the maritime NW don’t get much practice. As a matter of fact, they send us to a special school (!) to learn how to drive on ice so we’ll have a bit of know-how when it’s time to jump in the snowplow rigs every two or three years.
Am sleeping better but still feel a bit directionless. Who knows, maybe this is a positive development. Had a big falling-out with my new age counsellor who said basically “get over it”. Sorry I don’t need to pay someone to tell me that.
Good morning Frogpond-type human persons!
I am blogging from underneath my blanket because it’s 26 degrees outside, school is canceled for today, work is closed and even if it wasn’t there’s no way I would get out on those roads. Check the Seattle news reports (I’ll send URLs if you like) — it is no exaggeration to say that people are still trying to get home from last night’s commute. I thought I was being all clever by leaving work at 5 PM, which was just as the snow starting drifting in in earnest. I thought I was inconvenienced because I didn’t get home until 8 PM. Well, I was, but between the snow we had on Sunday that was just starting to melt, the little hailstorm we had just before the snow, the sub-zero Arctic blast that came in behind the snow, and the combination of Seattle’s normally sucky commute and the added traffic pressure of a Seahawks game last night . . . well, there are cars abandoned on the freeways, people sleeping in their cars in parking lots, jackknifed busses, and it isn’t getting any better today.
So I’m staying home. I don’t get paid snow days but I have the luxury of being able to connect in to work from home and do some stuff from here so the day isn’t a total waste.
And how is everyone else today? Oh yeah, I did vote for Olivia. Too bad that one vote per day rule is in effect. It would take me all of about 15 minutes to create a roto-voter to rig the election for her. Heh heh heh.
Well, blanket blogging and all, you will have the time to construct such software. 😉
I wish. Actually what I’m going to be doing most of the rest of the day is connecting in to work remotely and hoping to have some time to solve some nagging problems with a couple of projects I’ve been working on.
I will also have to spend a little time entertaining my grandson, who spent the night. We live closer to his school than his dad does and figured if school was going to be open it would be easier for us to get him there than for my son if the roads were bad. Well, the roads were bad, so school was closed, so here he is waiting for a chance to go play out in the snow. There isn’t much but it’s the experience, not the quantity, that counts.
Hiya Omir.
I’m waiting for our first snow day to show up. It’s only been 10 years since the last one, so I’m staring out the window wondering where it is.
Nothing better than kids and snow though. Hope you and the grandson have a good time.
Thanks Omir! To think: my very own robo-rater. Ah well, it’s that thought that counts … 🙂
You guys out there on the west coast aren’t having very good weather that’s for sure! I know Vancouver has been really having a bad time of it too. And you know, things aren’t right in the world when there’s snow in Vancouver and it’s going up to 64 in Ontario! LOL
Yeah, but from what I understand you guys are going to get the Polar Express tomorrow or Wednesday. I don’t know if you’re going to get the moisture, but you’re supposed to get the cold.
I always tell people that Victoria is the “garden spot of Canada” because the weather is usually a lot better there than anywhere else in the country. Not lately!
Arrrgh, tomorrow IS Wednesday! Tomorrow or THURSDAY.
Sheesh!
and into next week according to this handy dandy long range forecast graph … I’m not ready for it!
🙂
you need one of those sunshine destinations…:{)
Which one would you recommend? 🙂
Helloooooooo. Anybody around?
Hi Family Man, how you been? Had enough Turkey yet?
Hey Booman. Doing OK, but only had a little bit of turkey around here.
How’s things up in Philly. Driving back from an appointment this morning, I had to turn on the AC in the car. Go figure.
I’m trying to think of stuff for your recent Open Thread. Got a few, but thinking of more.
What’s up Olivia?
Hope you’re feeling better today. I see you’re still trying to get Refinish to try poutine. I don’t think he’s Canadian enough yet though. 🙂
… if comes to Canada — I’m thinking the thought of eating poutine might be too much of a deterrent though 😉
I’m sick again FM — sore throat and stuffy nose and aches! Grrrrrrrrr … How are you doing? I was just at your b and it sounds like it might not be too good.
I hate to hear its hit you again. Might need some more time off from work. 🙂
Bronchitis wise, I’m doing OK. I got a surprise at the Orthopedic Surgeons office today. They did a bone density test on me and he told me I had full blown osteoporosis and my bone density was that of an 85-90 year old man. See I told ya’ll I might be mid 50’s, but felt like I was 70 or 80. 🙂
So I’ve got to start exercising a lot more and do all sort of other stuff. Oh woe is me, I might might have to abdicate from the Slacker King’s throne. :~)
Oh no. What about all of those new osteoporosis drugs? My sister in law was in bad shape, getting stress fractures in her feet/ankles just from walking! She’s been on the once a month med (maybe Boniva) for over a year and the change is remarkable. I sure hope for all our sakes that your slacker status is safe.
We talked about those and because of reflux he didn’t want to put me on a pill. He did however prescribe a medicine I’ll have to take for 18 months, that is if my insurance pays for it. He said that medicare doesn’t pay for it and he wasn’t sure of mine. So I have to check all that out first. Another thing which I don’t like is the medicine has to be giving daily by injection. He said it’s subQ like for diabetics.
SubQ injections aren’t too difficult to learn. the ‘ewww’ factor is probably the worst part. Even I can give my horses intramuscular injections and those are worse than subq. And those horse needles are like small straws; the eww factor was considerable. Do whatever you need to do now to turn it around. You don’t have to live with osteoporosis. Take care of yourself!
Thanks Nag. I’m not too worried about the SubQ. At one time I had the Imetrix self injectors for migraines. So I know what it’s like to jab yourself in the thigh with a self injector.
That’s scary Nag … from walking. I know people w/ osteoporosis who’ve had rib fractures from hugs. Good to hear your sister is better!
Scary, yes. If it had been 10 years ago, she would have been out of luck. (she’s my sister-in-law by the way) Weight bearing exercises are supposedly very good also. When your bones get so bad that walking is a weight bearing exercise, you’re in trouble.
When your bones get so bad that walking is a weight bearing exercise, you’re in trouble. That’s what I was thinking!
You’ll have to start slowly — chair exercises — then maybe short walks around the pond w/ George. 🙂
Seriously though — that’s not good FM. No wonder you #ed that bone in your back when you lifted the tractor.
Yep I know. Like I said, everytime I see this guy, it’s a new surprise.
Told FMom though, don’t complain to me anymore, because my bones are older than hers. 🙂
only your first birthday — you can’t have old bones? Poor FM — exercise?
Hi Mary.
Nope didn’t think to tell him that. But can you imagine, me and exercise. Just seems to go against the laws of nature. 🙂
“ Poutine is Acadian slang for mushy mess and is best described as a heart attack in a bowl.
Sounds like more searching (and maybe some experimentation) is called for. 🙂
especially when you add the onion rings … lol 🙂
And maybe a dab of pimento cheese on top. Yum! 🙂
don’t mess w/ perfection … 🙂
I think the Colonel at KFC is trying for an Americanized version of poutine. They have bowls they serve now. This is what I got off the web site.
We start with a generous serving of our creamy mashed potatoes, layered with sweet corn and loaded with bite-sized pieces of crispy chicken. Then we drizzle it all with our signature home-style gravy and top it off with a shredded three-cheese blend. It’s all your favorite flavors coming together.
I don’t know, but I’m not sure of that either. 🙂
LOL
Sounds like baby food — put it all a blender and whiz it up … 🙂
Yep but it has that Southern flair! Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. I’m starting to get hungry. 🙂
about the conference call podcast? that sounds like fun, do you think we could do it?
Well lets see. I know Refinish can do a podcast and that I’ve done one, but something seems to be missing.
Oh yeah, where’s your first. 😛
maybe I need a little help getting over my shyness. 🙂
Like I said, if I can do it anyone can. I hate to hear my voice worse than anything.
But just to get you to jump in, if Refinish does the thing, then I’ll join in.
Hi Everyone…hello olivia. There are people who take pictures and then there’s olivia..true genius always shines through.
And Tracy don’t forget to put up pix’s of your new christmas decorations ok.
It’s great to see you! It’s been awhile since we shared a fence here in the cafe … 😉
Hi Ink.
It’s so good to see you. How have you been doing?
Hi Chocolate Ink… LOVE your sig line.
Hi CI, I voted too 🙂
Thanks everyone … woo hoo! 🙂
I think Manny is still feeling under the weather, so I’m going to open a mid-day cafe.
Give me a minute or two.
