For those of you keeping track of our fires, it got a bit cooler and damper this evening, but the fires in the northeast still managed to jump a containment line and burn two more houses in a seaside town.
It will probably be another week before they have that fire out.
I finally got the last of my alpaca feed today. Which was fortunate because three of the family (two sons and the father) who run my local feed business will be off tomorrow for another three-days of volunteer fire fighting.
Our house, surrounded by pasture and garden plants, is very defendable from fire. So don’t worry about us.
Nah, I haven’t gone to sleep yet. Have one more subject to cover for my exam in 6 hours, and then it’s running through past tests to pick up useful tidbits here and there. Probably won’t be going to sleep, unfortunately.
Relaxing sounds nice, but I’d probably fall asleep if I did that at this time. 🙂 As for preparation, I don’t feel I’m as well prepared. Last year, I would’ve been dead set already. This year, I think my mental outlook is slightly different, for whatever reason, and it requires me to really cram in a lot of things in a shorter time period.
or you’ve worked yourself into a chronic worrying mode — I think anxiety can become a perpetual motion machine.
The thing to keep in mind is that this is such a small portion of your life and once you’ve been working a few years, no one will ever really care about what happened in college again.
It’s not so bad…I have been told I “shop like a man”. I make a list, know where I’m going and what I’m getting, and get done. “Get in, get out, nobody gets hurt.”
Plus, I really only shop where the stores are NOT connected to each other by a mall, like in town or in the open air shopping center. Much better that way.
That was fun yesterday. Did you get a look at Chez Cabin?
I think so too. And I just heard about a secret weapon in online shopping. Coupon codes. If you have a specific store or item in mind, like Crate and Barrel, you fill your shopping cart and then do a google search for “C&B coupon codes” and then enter the code where it prompts you in the checkout. There are often several for each site so you can choose between free shipping, 20% off, buy one get one free, etc!
Oh, my. That’s a very, very sweet spot, CG! I’ve seen a few interior shots, but never an image of the cabin itself. It’s lovely. Definitely something to aspire to, for this woodland critter.
Thanks for sharing the image! I’m guessing it’s recent? Looks a bit like autumn.
😉
screen name Angry Buddhist. I was reading one of Angry Buddhist posts and it was very good and it was very angry. Anger is sort of nonBuddhist, not hands down but we Buddhists are supposed to be filling our internal tools boxes with all of these wonderful things that allow us to manage our unbridled emotions. So Angry Buddhist posts are a major Angry Buddhist, I mean if you are a Buddhist and you’re that pissed you you you you you stole the screen name that I should have.
Having a bit of a technical problem. The first line of text on each page is being eaten off. I probabably did something stupid yesterday, but I’m still too slow to figure it out. Anyway, that’s why the opening of each page doesn’t make sense.
It’s ten hours since I went to bed, and you guys haven’t even started a new Froggybottom thread.
Now that’s slacking worthy of FM.
Hi all. It’s a beautiful clear day here, with mild temps and little wind forecast – just what we needed.
On a very sad note, up on the mainland a firefighter was killed when struck by a vehicle whose driver could not see him through all the smoke. It was an arson fire. If this does not change legislation governing arson and the severity of it’s punishment, I don’t know what will.
How’s it going?
You can probably infer by the fact that I’m commenting that I didn’t go to sleep. 🙂
Trying to build stamina for the nest round of exams in the spring? LOL
Hell no…if I have to do this in the spring, that won’t be a good sign at all!
I hope the rest of your exams go great and that next semester is a breeze!!!
Morning Andi.
As usual, we’re only here in passing.
It’s nearly my bed-y-bye time.
For those of you keeping track of our fires, it got a bit cooler and damper this evening, but the fires in the northeast still managed to jump a containment line and burn two more houses in a seaside town.

Hi Keres. Glad you got the feed and that your place is defendable but we will still worry and send good thoughts your way!!!
Can’t help ourselves — the pack and I will be worrying about you but we’ll be counting on your super-nerd capabilities to keep you safe.
Morning Andi and Psi!!!! Hope you both had a great nights sleep. Here is a design I did this am.

Good luck on the exam. I thought you had finished with those till the spring. I will send good thoughts your way!!!
I’d tell you to relax because I’m sure you’re well prepared but I figure that’s pointless. So I’ll just say ‘do well’ instead.

Morning, refinish.
Morning Miss Andi!!!
Alright, time to check out. Already got the rest of my day planned out (study, exam, bank until 6-7 PM, crash). See y’all tomorrow morning.
Good luck on your exam!
How is everyone?
I’m sleepy today. It’s misty, and I was up late with somebody who isn’t feeling well.
But today’s my Christmas shopping day! And I only have anout an hour’s work to do this morning!
Are you actually going to go into actual buildlings to shop? That’s just too horrible to comtemplate.
Sure you wouldn’t just hang around here and get all your landscaping needs taken care of?
It’s not so bad…I have been told I “shop like a man”. I make a list, know where I’m going and what I’m getting, and get done. “Get in, get out, nobody gets hurt.”

like the man in this house — he likes it; I hate it.
For the last three years, we’ve gotten every gift online — perfect way to shop.
Yes, I saw your adorable little house in the woods. 🙂
Online shopping is the best. No people, no line, no people, no parking problems, no people, no aggravation…just receive it and wrap it. 🙂

very cool. Now what can I buy?
Obviously, someone we know.
Who is that mystery NY?
Gee, do you really have to ask? 🙂
Call me clueless and/or sleep-deprived, but I do.
I’d also love seeing the image of your place mentioned above, CabinGirl. Got a link?
Ask. 🙂
Aha.
Last image I saw of ask pictured sandy hair, iirc — so I was triply disabled.
How are you today, luscious being?
I am feeling antsy because the mister is home until Jan. 2. 🙂
Is that antsy nice or nasty?
I’ll say that since antsy and nasty both use the same letters – I’ll go with nasty.
I dread when he retires.
Assuming that we’ll actually be able to afford to retire ..
Here

The photo is actually 2 years old.
I’ll bet the place looks gorgeous in the snow. Perhaps you can share a new image if winter ever arrives (she said greedily).
Bootiful cabin, CG!
Thanks. I’m kinda partial to it myself…
How are the sandpaper burns healing?
S-l-o-w-l-y. Feh.
My envy has reached astronomical levels. What an amazing place.
Cool. 🙂
Good morning, CG and all.
That’s really funny. I left a comment in your “News Bucket”.
Quick Good Morning before I have to head out.
Hope you’re feeling a bit better, Teach.
Good enough to go to school, but I’ve two hours to go (only the last with kids) and it’s touch and go.

I was reading the story the other day and it’s great! 🙂
Thanks. I was feeling better but I went to school today and am wiped out.
