The snow from last night never melted today, so it is well and truly winter in the southern hemisphere.  It’s also Winter Solstice today.

Since twilight has been arriving at a bit before 5pm, I’m thrilled that the days will be getting longer from now on.

      How’s it going today?

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on June 21, 2007 at 9:52 am

Not bad.  The weather is cool, and we’re already at the library to meet CBtE’s tutor this morning.  He (the tutor) wants to put in 4 hours, but I don’t think I can sit here that long…never mind CBtE’s attention/sit-still span.

At least I remembered my library card today, and I think I’m going to check out a cookbook or two to try out. I’ve been eying the Dean and Deluca Food and Wine cookbook and another one by Caprial Pence.

What’s on your plate for today?

        • Family Man
Family Man on June 21, 2007 at 9:57 am

Sounds like a nice day at the library.

Not much planned here today.  I just about got everything done yesterday on the house cleaning.  I might take a run into the city today for groceries, but I never know.  It’s usually when the feeling hits me.  But relatives will be here this w/e and they’ve got to be fed.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on June 21, 2007 at 10:05 am

I need to go grocery shopping too.  Sigh.

It is one of my less favorite chores.  I don’t mind the shopping so much, but the interminably long checkout line  is a major deterrent for me.

            Who’s coming this weekend?

We must be having the same gorgeous weather!  Unfortunately, I get to head off to the library again for another 4-hour marathon study session for CBtE.  At least we’ll have part of the afternoon left.

I get weather-related headaches too.  I think it has to do with changes in barometric pressure.

That must be it.  Good luck at the library.

I was just catching up on my reading from being out of internet range all day yesterday.

I’m hoping to sacrifice my bike ride to the rain gods. It’s getting dark instead of light this morning.

          (re: corrected my stupid typo)

We got a good one on Friday while I was gone. The radar doesn’t show anything now but there’s a big blob of green and yellow out to the rest that could come this way.

          Oh and I forgot:

          HAPPY, HAPPY VACATION!!!

            Thanks Andi.
It’s no vacation to go on one…
But once we settle down in our seats, I expect full relaxation.
Right now, we’re preparing for breakfast for 9, including asklets and 3 cousins.

I like the lead-up to vacation, the anticipation, the planning, andd even the packing.

OTOH, breakfast for 9 — yuck. Dealing with that many people first thing in the morning is more than I can handle.

curly has it under control – creme brulee french toast has been soaking overnight.  My job seems to be to stay out of the way.

I saw on the weather report yesterday that there was a bit over an inch at the city west of us and 2 inches to the east. I’m wondering if it follows that we received 1 1/2 inches? I’ve neglected to put the rain gauge out for the summer.
