I’ll never underestimate the Washington Establishment’s ability to paper over uncomfortable truths but the Bush administration’s crimes are so egregious that that talent may be truly put to the test.

A question – where do the Washington Post owners live? I’d submit the establishment goes far beyond Washington.
I don’t understand the question.
dust off the war crimes prisoner dockets.
once out of office, it’s gonna be difficult for Cheney, Bush and pals to travel outside the U.S.. Any wonder Cheney’s secret service detail was extended to six months beyond his leaving office?
Will Bush issue pardons on January 20th, including a pardon for himself?
Pardons only exempt you from for domestic prosecutions. In the event of War Crimes, any other country can detain you when on their soil and send you to The Hague to be tried.
pardons protect at home. they’ll not travel outside the U.S.
I guess, as the Nazi’s in Germany did before the end of WWII, the Nazi’s occupying the WH are planning which country they can seek refuge in. While there may not be many I’m sure there are Middle East countries that we haven’t invaded that would welcome then and their ill gotten gains.
Supposedly one of the Bush daughters, while traveling in South America last year, signed the papers on behalf of her father to buy a million-acre ranch in Paraguay. Dunno whether it’s true or not, but it kinda makes sense.
I can’t think of anywhere in the Middle East these criminals could go. Maybe Central Asia, although there’s always a possibility that the citizenry would overthrow that friendly dictator, or that Russia might reestablish control.
is that there are nazi’s still in SA. Does anyone know fer sure?
I’ve heard about the ranch too.

It’s not very surprising news that the Dick approved torture. We already have many pieces of evidence showing that Bush and Co. instituted a torture regime and also illegally spied on the American people. What we don’t know is exactly how these potentially criminal actions were taken and by whom. We may never know because Bush and the gang claim executive privilege on the whole matter and the media and Congress have failed to demand answers and justice.
So of course I’m not surprised that Cheney approved torture. And I don’t take at face value the assertion that Bush was removed from the decision to implement a torture regime. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bush signed off on the decision to torture as well. I, for one, imagine that Bush couldn’t resist playing Commander Codpiece. It’s probably one of the few roles of the Presidency he actually made an effort to do well. It’s hard for me to believe that this decision would be made without Bush’s support.
I must say that I’m a bit shocked — okay, a lot shocked — that I’m actually hearing talk of war crimes and prosecution in the press lately. I’d ask if the press was waking up, but I don’t want to jinx it.
Torture = harsh interrogation.
My ass.
Every time Mr. AP and I hear “enhanced interrogation techniques” uttered on the teevee, we shout at the screen “no, TORTURE.”
I am sick to death of the “objective” media sanitizing shit. And I do mean “shit.”
No verbal niceties can mask the stench.
Wonder if they ever watched the videos of their menu of torture delights. It’s like the whole thing was a big S&M orgy to them. Spitzer ordered his online, this guy in a Nazi-Themed Torture Dungeon, and the Bushies are more the rapist types.
weak men with weak morals, trying to act tough.
Now if someone could just prove Bush gets blow jobs from Condie, there’d be impeachment proceedings before he could bomb Iran.
<heavy sigh>
My FIL was just convinced they were sleeping together from the very beginning. I couldn’t see it at first, but when you “slip” and call your boss “my husband” while engaging in salon chatter…um, no.
And it’s just a disgusting thought, but she’s thrown away all of her talent being Bush family sycophant…but it obviously pays well. I guess it barely gets worse from there.
They all have plenty of answer for.
I just finished reading Samantha Power’s book on the death of Sergio Vieira de Mello and now read this:
U.N. Official Calls for Study Of Neocons’ Role in 9/11
By ELI LAKE
Staff Reporter of the Sun

WASHINGTON — A new U.N. Human Rights Council official assigned to monitor Israel is calling for an official commission to study the role neoconservatives may have played in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
On March 26, Richard Falk, Milbank professor of international law emeritus at Princeton University, was named by unanimous vote to a newly created position to report on human rights in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs. While Mr. Falk’s specialty is human rights and international law, since the attacks in 2001, he has devoted some of his time to challenging what he calls the “9-11 official version.”
