This pretty much sums up our critters’ respective response to heat.
Albert has been gleefully enjoying the large swath of sunlight coming in from the sliding glass door we just installed on the north (equatorial) side of the house.
Luna avoids the sun, even on cold days. If you are looking for her in that yard, you start by looking at all the shady sides of all the outbuildings and water tanks.
and we’ve only now gotten around to moving the sliding glass door – so that we can see this view from inside the house.
Or, you know, sunsets like this one we had a few hours ago.
that’s really gorgeous. But then so it the day time view. It’s obvious that you’re really going to enjoy having the sliding glass doors.
What a great view and that sunset is stunning.
What a beautiful view, and, as someone who was unduly proud of herself for changing out a faulty wall plug thingey, I am amazed at all the work you’ve done around the house.
My daughter, who just graduated with a degree in anthropology, and has been trying to figure out What Is Next, is spending the summer way up in British Columbia helping a couple build a straw bale house in the mountains in exchange for room and board and gorgeous views. Maybe I’ll loan her to you when she’s done. She’s got a clingy boyfriend of 4 years who does not want her to join the Peace Corps and I’m hoping she doesn’t make the mistake of giving up that particular dream for that particular guy….
I see Mom offering a ticket somewhere(sans boyfriend) LOL
Yes, that’s me.
As you can see, this phase was mostly accomplished using a circular saw and a crow bar.
By all means, send her to us. We’d love to start on the straw bale extension. Also, Australia is a great jumping off point for much of Asia. And, there are plenty of opportunities within Australia for volunteering/working with Aboriginal Australians (who have the world’s oldest extant cultures).
The Diva Dogs in their favorite place- the bed

Two peas in dacron pod.
Or does she look like she’s just stolen someone’s hubcap?
I was thinking steering wheel. LOL
It wasn’t so much what she was carrying as the slightly askance “nothing’s happening here” look she was giving me.
I did the Anth thing in college as well and then went on a summer dig in northern BC. I think my parents were more than happy that I spent a summer apart from the boyfriend. Great memories, she’ll have some as well I’m sure.
I ran across this youtube, hope it gives people a laugh even if you have already seen it.

Funny video. Of course, you shouldn’t feed a horse cheesebergers.
Strange that he didn’t like coke though. My horse Mojave used to swig soda or gatorade straight from the bottle. When we went trail riding I always took one bottle and an apple for me, and one of each for her. Nor was she shy about begging a bit of my sandwich (vegetarian, of course).
The hamburger thing is quite odd.
Despite the snow here this week the first horseback riders made their way up to my hilltop and valley. This year a pudgy mule arrived with all new tack and he was so fuzzy with leftover winter coat he left me with a smile all day.
I’m very fond of mules, and especially fond of shaggy coated equines.
Mojave, despite her name, was born in British Columbia from Norwegian stock – and exceptionally fuzzy in the winter months.
Mojave sounds special. In summer months I’m at my happiest when I can trek down to the river where the USFS retired mules are set out in a field to eat to their hearts’ content. I stop off at the deserted orchards up the road and pick applies for them and we have some very serious discussions.

Oh never mind!
Stupid pictures!

Hey nalbar…
How’s this?
This is how you do it:
< img src=”http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2200/img6007rk5.th.jpg“ >
Take out the spaces between “<” and “img” and between the last ” and “>”, and it will insert your picture.
If you’re ever having html trouble, feel free to ask your question in the cafe, and usually you’ll have 2 or 3 people jumping right in to help. 🙂
By the way, cool picture.
Thanks Cabin!
It’s not the first (or last) time I have had trouble with pics.

What a sweet picture.
Yes, it’s a sweet picture, but I was also making the point that Luna wasn’t sharing the rug.
Here’s Albert giving her a “dirty look” for being such a big rug-hog.
And here’s Mohammad finally giving up and moving to the other side of the mountain.
