Good morning CabinGirl! Mrs. Dem & I had an incredibly fun night last night listening to our kids’ blues band at one of the local watering holes. They packed the place!

That sounds like a lot of fun.  Was it in the cute little town you’ve posted pictures of in the past?

I have teenagers today…CBtE’s buddies spent the night last night, and the girls are coming over to hang out around lunchtime.  If the rain holds off, we might get to do our hiking and boulder climbing, but it isn’t looking good right now.

Yep – the same town. They usually play about 20 miles away in a larger city. What’s really nice is the brothers have been very good pals and band mates ever since high school, 20 years ago. The hiking & climbing sounds fun too. We spent a lot of time outdoors with the boys when they were that age. Now its off to the yard to spiff up for the parade next Sat. Mrs. Dem will be doing her once-a-year party for that event.

Is that a fiddlehead fern?  I’ve never seen one in the wild.

I need to take some pictures of my dogwood today, before the blooms are all gone.

It’s amazing to think that last week, nothing was in bloom yet.  We’ve had the accelerated spring weather this week.

What are you up to this morning?

        Good morning, Andi and CG!
Sleeping till 7.40 is a blessing, but now I feel tired …?

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on April 27, 2008 at 8:53 am

Sometimes it seems like the more sleep you get, the more tired you feel, doesn’t it?

I had to run out and pick CBtY up from his friend’s house while dropping off my third son (CBtE’s best friend) at his house at the same time (this 3.59/gallon gas is making me be very careful about how many trips we make).

Now I have a half hour to chill with my coffee and oatmeal and blog before I head out to yoga.

AndiF on April 27, 2008 at 8:10 am

Well, you can come visit me and see all the wild fiddlehead ferns you can handle. 🙂

Our dogwoods just opened up this week and some of them haven’t gone completely white yet so we’ve easily got another week or two here. The redbuds are open now too (see below).

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on April 27, 2008 at 8:55 am

Better watch out, we might just take you up on that invite…especially now that I see that Second Nature will be cooking fiddleheads for us.  ðŸ˜‰

I know someone who will be very happy to hear that all those purple trees are called redbuds.  What were they thinking?

Good Morning Folks!!!! Woke up to loud thunder, hail and torrential rain.  Poor Bette is beside herself and trying to find a place to hide. LOL  She is currently sitting in the bathroom which is the only room with no windows at all. LOL  Reba, on the other hand is wondering what the big deal is.

She seems so enthusiastic about it!  And now wonder, the biew looks quite nice.  ðŸ™‚

Our Gracie loves to sit on the edge of our patio looking down over the (very high and steep) hill behind the house.  She’ll just put herself under the railing, with her head sticking out beyond the railing, quietly watching everything that’s going on in the woods.

          • keres
keres on April 28, 2008 at 9:54 pm

It must be nice to be able to turn the heat “on” (not that power bills are any fun).

Autumn has finally kicked into full gear here, so just this week we’ve started regularly lighting fires in the wood stove.  Which means that this weekend we’ll have to fell a tree and chop wood.

It’s amazing how much more willing one becomes to put up with low interior temperatures when there’s a fair bit of physical work involved. (Of course we can’t let the interior temperature fall too low without Albert staging a protest – i.e. snuggling-up longingly right next to the firebox.)

            Good morning, keres!
Spring is on the back burner again and the forecast is for more of the same this week.
I don’t mind chopping wood for stove or fireplace, but it’s been a very rare occurrence for many years…

          • keres
keres on April 28, 2008 at 11:23 pm

I wouldn’t mind chopping wood if I didn’t royally suck at it.  Fortunately Imogen’s a champ, so I get to direct my efforts at felling – at which, being a major physics nerd, I excel.

      (Good) morning!
Great pic – the essence of spring.
Mostly sleepless night, then some guy’s call wakes me up telling me I’m late for ‘the test’ – wrong number!

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on April 30, 2008 at 9:10 am

        That stinks.

I was sooo lazy this morning:  I made sure everyone else  woke up and got ready for school, but didn’t get out of bed myself till about 15 minutes ago.  It felt good to get enough sleep for a change, though.

      • Second Nature
Second Nature on April 30, 2008 at 9:16 am

I keep getting the CREEPIEST wrong number calls on my cellphone in the middle of the night.  One of them is a woman who sounds like she’s out partying (and has emphysema)and she calls me “hon” and just starts talking to me asking me if I’m behind her…on the road I assume….how did it go with Dwayne.  The other morning I got a call from a guy who I thought asked for me by name and then asked if I still danced at the gentleman’s club….Ick!

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on April 30, 2008 at 9:30 am

          That sucks.

Back at Christmas time, I had a guy who kept calling my cell at all hours, wrong number, looking for some girl, I told him repeatedly my phone was not her number, he kept calling, kept waking us up, kept leaving voicemails, and after 5 weeks of this (I am not exaggerating, either), he called again.  By then I recognized the number, and I’d had it with his crap, so I answered the phone with my kayak whistle.

That was the end of that.

          (ps, you have email)

        boran2 on April 30, 2008 at 9:16 am
