about Gates. But I can’t say he’s done anything to me personally.
I tried a new recipe for Thanksgiving this year. It’s a pumpkin pudding pie with a graham cracker crust. The bottom of the crust had caramel and toasted pecan pieces, then the creamy, fluffy pumpkin pudding filling with whipped cream blended in, then topped with more whipped cream and garnished with swirls of caramel and more pecan pieces.
The family went crazy over it and ate all of it. I didn’t get a single bite.
But this morning, my husband produced a single small piece that he had hidden. I got to taste it after all. Yum.
What a guy! 🙂
In which the Nature family learns never to leave the turkey carcass alone…
On account of the nephew’s work schedule, Thanksgiving dinner was 8pm at a Chinese restaurant. The leftover bitter melon and the jellyfish are treating me so-so.
Had dinner at the Girlfriend’s mom’s house, and the leftovers are over there. So I guess the leftovers are ignoring me. That’s okay. We’re going to get a smoked turkey in the near future.
Wow! In our family, we always send leftovers home with guests (which is why we have to have two turkeys for 14 people, I guess).
Well, Girlfriend’s mom was talking about “bakwai” or “white devils” while she was waving the carving knife so I didn’t think I’d press my luck.
My barely-held-together front tooth has precluded me from eating leftovers. The dentist awaits on Tuesday of next week. 🙁

Seeing that picture of crabs I was reminded of something I heard about horseshoe crabs, which don’t look so tasty. Horseshoe crabs’ blood use copper instead of iron to carry oxygen and so their blood is blue.
Just a fun fact.

thats the bad thing about going out to eat….no leftovers…i ate every scrap of my crispy duck confit wontons, my diver sea scallop on a pool of parmesan risotto and apsaragus and my gnocchi in a lobster chanterelle cream sauce not to mention my white chocolate pumpkin cheese cake topped with cranberry sorbet and an almond tuille.
im having popcorn for dinner
When you’re on a diet, as I am, that’s the GOOD thing about going out – no leftovers.
I’m down 70 pounds since mid-June. Shooting for a little over 100.
Congrats on your weight loss! I lost 45 pounds more than a year ago and have kept it off. It’s not easy, but it’s worth the effort. I applaud you on your hard work and hope you reach your goal.
hambones getting saved for soup, turkey’s getting eaten, soon to become turkey salad, soon to become turkey stock.
the veggies we don’t eat will be composted.
Congrats on your OWN weight loss. It’s definitely not easy, but we both know now it’s doable.
I lost thirty pounds. I climb up and down Montara Mountain every day. That helps.
Bob in Pacifica, Did you just cut down on intake or follow a perticular diet? I need to lose about 20 pounds and still haven’t succeeded in losing hardly anything.
I swear, climbing uphill is the best way to lose weight. You work the heart like nothing else, ripping through calories. Hiking is now a permanent fixture in my weekly life!
Wow! Good for you!!
Thanks! And now your name is making me hungry..! 😉
