Welcome back.
This week we’ll be continuing with the painting of the grille of a 1949 Packard automobile. The photo that I’m using is seen in the photo directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylics on an 8×10 canvas.
Seen in a vintage illustration directly below is the entire vehicle showing the grille in context.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I got a little lazy with the holidays but did manage to work on the headlight. It has enough visual weight now to stand with the central grill and provide balance. Painted in grays, blues and whites, I have left the lower portion in white. I may yet change it.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
BTW – are you aware of this:
We are on for a meetup on Tuesday, December 30th. I’ll send and post the
venue and time next week.
casperr sent the e-mail some days ago and will probably post a diary soon.
I’m next to certain that I’ll make it this time – will you?
Thanks ask! I’m not sure yet. I’ll have to see if I can convince my evil overlords to let me go early that day.
Saturday, eh?
All the holidays confuse my internal calendar.
It’s coming along beautifully. The level of detail is amazing.
Wow! This is great, boran2.
I love this one, boran2. Is it fun to have all those reflective details (the house, the trees, the road) to work on?
It seems like it would be like doing multiple paintings in one.
Thanks CG. It is like doing several smaller paintings.
Oh Shit!!!
:o)
Please! There are children reading here! 😉
Oh shoot! :o)
Sorry, but that’s just stunning! I mean it. You’ve surpassed any expectations I had. And that’s saying a lot because I know how good you are at this :o)
Hey Super,
It is, the shitzle, isn`t it.
Have a great Holiday Season & a healthy new year.
Boran2,
If your car ever breaks down call my “Tow Service”.
Since your shiny new car comes alive more & more, it`s only fitting that it should be well maintained.
This painting of yours is becoming more & more a testament to your versatility. Excellent work.
The truck I sent (as a, “just in case”) which I mentioned elsewhere as a shot I took in a rainy back alley, in Sunland, Ca., is in reality a Chinese made, tin truck of a generic brand, that my daughter got me for christmas, as a little shelf display. I parked it in a wet looking back alley behind “Bob & Son`s” parts shop, that is all fabricated in PS.

This is a painting of my thoughts for the servicing of your classic one.
Thanks Knucklehead! The car is more than 50 years old, a tow truck might just come in handy.
