Morning CG!  Are/did you get the rain we’ve gotten today?

      • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on June 26, 2009 at 9:27 am

It’s looking ominous here, and I think we’ll have storms later, but so far, no rain.  It’s been neverending this year, hasn’t it?

Good luck with your show this weekend!

          boran2 on June 26, 2009 at 10:58 pm

It rained twice here today, the second wave being a huge and violent thunderstorm.

          Thanks!

We had a 5-minute blast of thunder/lightning/rain tonight, and then it was gone.

Lately we get ’em every afternoon. Sometimes with hail.

We haven’t had rain in a while.  A downpour last week, but mostly just hot and sunny.

    • maryb2004
      maryb2004 on June 26, 2009 at 11:30 pm

We had a shower the other day but otherwise no rain all week.  Just really hot and REALLY humid.

I’d take some rain right about now if it brought cooler weather.

Good morning everybody! That’s a lovely cluster of blooms up top, WW! What is it?

    • wilderness wench
wilderness wench on June 28, 2009 at 7:42 am

Sorry for the late reply, ID. Those are lilac blossoms from a very old bush (now a tree) here on the farm.

      • Indianadem
Indianadem on June 29, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Ah, please don’t be sorry. Most of us drop by at odd times when we can. I’ll bet the lilac smells wonderful. Most of the ones around here are pink, so I didn’t recognize it.

  6. AndiF
AndiF on June 28, 2009 at 6:20 am

We finally dropped out of the 90s and are going to spend the week in the mid to lo 80s (and maybe even the 70s on Tuesday). Yay! I hope the rainy folks are getting a similar change.

    • wilderness wench
wilderness wench on June 28, 2009 at 7:43 am

The morning sky here is ominously blue. There’s a light in it.
      The robins are cackling, however.

      • Second Nature
Second Nature on June 28, 2009 at 8:44 am

Pretty lilacs, WW.  I do believe they are my favorite flower.  Memories of my grandmother and also bringing in armloads of them for the May Altar at church.  Way back when.  They smell divine.

        • wilderness wench
wilderness wench on June 28, 2009 at 10:06 pm

Yes, they do! It’s wonderful when you don’t expect it & their scent envelopes you in the breeze. A magical moment, many times daily.

Oh, you meant temperatures, not decades.   No one should ever have to spend a week in the 80’s again (although Tuesday in the 70’s might have been fun).

      • Second Nature
Second Nature on June 28, 2009 at 8:22 pm

I don’t think I’d want to live the 70s again.  Oh, the angst…

        • AndiF
AndiF on June 28, 2009 at 9:35 pm

Wait, weren’t you too young to care about the angst of the 70s?

I could do the 70-72 but I’d just as soon skip the rest.

          Just over a week. We’re pining…
curly will come in late July.
How is your morning? Finally a beautiful one here – blue skies and high 60s at the moment.

We’ve had a few nice days in a row.  Today is looking spectacular so far, nice and cool and sunny.  I hope it lasts all week.

Say hi to curly for me.  I should post pictures of my last couple of knitting projects…  🙂

    • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on June 29, 2009 at 7:22 am

Best part is that I’ll have no school assignments due this weekend.

      • AndiF
AndiF on June 29, 2009 at 9:13 am

Best part here is the cooler temps which I’ve just come back from enjoying.

Now I’ve got to head off the library because I need to download two honking huge files and they’ve got a lovely underused T1 line and — even lovelier — they have wired connections to it.

        See ya.

        • Indianadem
Indianadem on June 29, 2009 at 9:00 pm

The county building where I work used to share part of the library’s bandwidth – that is, until a former county employee managed to overload the whole thing downloading movies one weekend. An ugly business, that was. Poor Yvonne, the head librarian, was just beside herself with worry.

          • AndiF
AndiF on June 29, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Hmmm, maybe he’s back. Everything was zipping along from about 10:30 to about 11:00 and then from about 11:00-11:45 the speed went to crap and then it zoomed right back up and stayed there.

          • Indianadem
Indianadem on June 29, 2009 at 9:52 pm

I’d say it was all the county employees downloading YouTube clips at lunchtime, but the county was banned from the T-1 as soon as they could get DSL hooked up. Speaking of which, some of my page loads have really been slow tonight.

    Brrrrrrrrr.

Sorry about the brrrrrr and the white stuff. Maybe there will be enough for Lily/Lilly to build a snow fort and throw snow balls at Hector.

CabinGirl on June 30, 2009 at 8:00 am

Stay warm and don’t blow away!

      • keres
keres on June 30, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Yep. Today is the Southern hemispheres equivalent of January 1st (Happy New Year!).

Having lived most of my life in the Northern hemisphere I frequently feel a bit lost when trying to equate months with Seasons.  So I just ignore the calendar.

        I do miss having Christmas/New years/etc as mid-winter celebrations.

            Morning ID.

And I just looked at the long range forecast and while we are going to lose the 70s, it’s going to stay in the low 80s so that’s still pretty good.
