And a huge happy birthday to Miss Andi!  Have a wonderful day!

AndiF on September 28, 2009 at 7:14 am

      Why thank you.

And since it’s also Yom Kippur, I’m especially happy that I’m a Jew in culture only. As I know from past experience, fasting and spending the day in shul on your birthday is a total bummer.

        All right – happy birthday!
curly takes off today, but that’s about it in terms of observation.

AndiF on September 28, 2009 at 7:43 am

Well I’m all for any reason to not work.

Since she’s off, you could always go down to my niece’s place and celebrate not fasting. 🙂

That would be nice, but the day will be hectic. I have to complete an important document and then, later, we’ll go to clean out my old digs. Moving out the rest of the stuff tomorrow.

Hooray for cultural observance only!  What kind of cake?

What an awful way to spend childhood birthdays.  Hope it didn’t happen very often.

        • AndiF
AndiF on September 28, 2009 at 7:42 am

No cake. Remember, I am she of the no sweet tooth. When I was kid my mom would make banana cake (no icing of course).

As for Yom Kipper — this is the fourth time but only twice while I was still practicing.

Happy birthday, Andi!  I’m actually off to day to “observe” the holiday at the hour long kid’s service with  the b2 boy.  An hour is about my limit.

Jim’s bring me home sashimi and goma ae for my birthday dinner. I plan to give it the same intensely loving look (which probably won’t be as charming since I’m not as cute and I don’t wear hats).

Happy, Happy Birthday, Andi! I truly hope this is one of your very best birthdays ever.

So nice of Ken Burns & PBS to air the ‘National Parks’ series in honor of your day, don’t you think?
His camera work on this one makes one weep with pleasure.

    🙂

    Enjoy your day!

I like all my birthdays (well not the two with the shul and the fasting).

It was gorgeous, wasn’t it. Jim and I had fun going “hey we’ve been there!”

          Hi WW,

Good to see you’re still about the pond!

I did catch most of the first Burns’ Nat Park Doc, and I’m certainly looking forward to the next ones.

I’m tempted to go looking for some Muir writings now too.

I was trying to find a bunch of trees to take a picture of, to represent your total birthdays, but I was only able to come up with 39… would that do?

Like one old timer used to say ’round these here parts, “Yeah, tough gettin’ a year older, but then the alternative ain’t so hot either”!

You still got almost a couple of hours to celebrate… so have at it.

Hey NDD! Great to see you back here.

Do you know that Olivia and I have a photo diary every Friday? We’d love it if you started contributing. We have a theme every week, though you’re free to ignore if you want. This week’s theme is Purple.

We had a ‘what is it’ theme one week and gave you full credit for the great idea.

Thanks for b’day wishes but being the geezer I am (you’d have needed 20 more trees and we know what an impossible challenge that would have been) I was fast asleep (but I only had an hour because we’re on Eastern DST) by the time you posted that comment.

            Morning Andi.

            How’s the “day after”?

Today’s a fairly momentous day at Sook Farm.  Imogen in leaving her old job for a new one with one of our Greens party Federal Senators.  I’ll let her share more details if she sees fit.

She’s taking a week off between jobs, which probably means that, with her at home, I’ll have to fight for computer access.  I’ll try to save up time enough to do the dog blog and foto flogging.  Purple you say?  It’s been years since I dyed a dog . . .

Best wishes to Imogen on her new job (and hope everybody enjoys the time off).

Thanks for the photo invite. I’ll have to see what I can come up with.

Hey, you’re still a youngster, relative to some I know lurking about the pond…

But going to bed when you could have had a couple more shots of tequila before midnight, EDT, hmmmmm…

Yeah, I bet that “what is it” theme was a fun one. And thanks for the credit!

All I can say is, “Holy Chihuahua!”

Keep that mishegoss up and we’ll have to throw you out of the geezerhood society … which would be a shame since it was only a few cafes ago that you got in. ;P

And happy birthday. I’ll bet yours has been on Yom Kippur too.

This tree actually changed in mid-September and has already lost all its leaves. Everything else is about two weeks early. Climate change indeed.

I’m not sure what kind of fall we’re going to have here. With some of the trees turning early and others still very green and the cooler than normal temps, it just impossible to predict but I’m pretty sure it won’t be as good as last year which was one of the most spectacular ever.

Lovely shot, Andi! So festive — the Great Fall Paradox: an explosion of color as the natural world quiets down.

We’ve definitely had an early season here, too, along with ‘follow the bouncing ball’ temperature readings. Weirdly uncomfortable, all in all.

I’m on my second bout of flu in a month, as well, due in part to fooling around outside in wacky weather.

And now, back to bed! O boy!
