As we all know, tomorrow is September 11th, which is sort of a Republican holiday/fundraiser. It can be celebrated in a variety of ways. This year, burning Korans seems to be in, but the truly sentimental can burn mosques. Less firestarter-happy people can give money to Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, or attend an alarmist movie created by Newt Gingrich. It doesn’t matter exactly how you celebrate getting caught with our pants down nine years ago while the president read a book about a pet goat, as long as you remember that the Republicans need your support. It’s also important to mourn the fact that Rudy Guiliani didn’t win a single delegate in his presidential run and that Bernie Kerik is in jail. You can also mourn for the careers of Paul Wolfowitz and Scooter Libby, who were unjustly crucified by ungrateful liberals. This year we won’t be honoring Dick Cheney, though, as he remains in the hospital home, without a pulse.
Perfect.
awesome.
so dick’s still on life support? as my grandmother used to say on my birthday, “til 101”. let him sit there like Ariel Sharon (nearly 5 years in a persistent vegetative state).
As far as I can tell, he has not been released from the hospital, although no news agencies are reporting anything about his condition. I guess you can consider him to be on life-support, although his heart pump isn’t technically what we normally mean by that term.
What’s odd is the total media blackout.
In any case, I’m not wishing him ill. I’m going to pass on honoring his career this year out of respect for his condition.
I’m going to assume you’re being sarcastic about “honoring his career”.
I don’t wish him ill either. I hope he lives a long long long long time. in a persistent vegetative state. hooked up to life support. Unconscious and helpless.
Actually, I finally found something that indicates that he’s back home. But the source is Liz Cheney in an interview with African-American Conservative Radio.
Speaking of terrorism, my jaw is still dragging the ground after just listening to a story on NPR concerning the soon to be released, updated report by the Bipartisan Policy Center’s National Security Preparedness Group. This is the formed after 9/11 to evaluate quantifiable terrorist threats within the country and how best to combat them. Shockingly, the group found that the biggest threat to our internal security is not Muslim extremists or mosques in major cities. I’ll give you three guesses………..
Wow…if only someone had reported this at some earlier time, we might have been able to ameliorate the danger of this ever-growing threat.
And why, you might ask, is my jaw dragging the ground? Not because of the findings of the report. But because after announcing the group’s findings at the start of the story, NPR proceeded to spend the entire time talking about the threat of Islamic terrorists outside our country, and not a single second was spend talking about the actual findings of the report. I’ll leave it to your imaginings as to why that might be so.
It’s apparently much more fun and interesting to talk about renovated Burlington Coat Factories and foreigners with funny names than people named Smith or Jones who might want to blow up government buildings. That conversation might make some of our politicians and media uncomfortable. After all, we’re the guys in the white hats, aren’t we??
Thinking ahead to 28 years from now, Sarah Palin still “might” be running for prez, co-hosting an event that just happens to be on sept 11 with proceeds to go to undesignated (i.e. her personal bank account). wonder how many years she can string string along the msm that she “might be running” – pitiful grifter that she is, as I’ve said before, although some Barnum quote is appropriate here too (sucker born every minute), or fool me once, shame on you, fool me for 28 years running, shame on me.
Not to make light of someone whose phenomenon should be taken deadly seriously, but I have a hard time imagining Sarah’s appeal will be quite the same as a GGILF.
I’m confused. The right wing is angry that President Obama is going to be at the Pentagon, rather than the World Trade Center site on 9/11. But their heroes, Palin and Beck, are going to be in Alaska for an event that costs $73 to $225 to attend???? Did the “liberal” media fail to tell us that Alaska was also attacked on 9/11?
Wait – seriously? There are people who are upset that he’s going to be at the Pentagon for his photo-op tomorrow instead of doing a photo-op in NYC?
I guess I can believe it. Because I imagine that if he were in NYC they’d be mad that he was politicizing 9/11. They probably get mad when he ties his shoes.
Yep, they sure are. link
The conservatives’ only guiding “principle” at this point appears to be that if Obama is doing it, they are opposed to it.
August 28 will be remembered with the words, “I have a dream that one day…”
September 11 will remember with the words, “OK Sonny, you’ve covered your ass. Now run along.” or something to that effect.
