The time change has really knocked me for a loop (as always). I can’t seem to roll out of bed before 7 am.
Just finished a BIG project at work, so I’m looking forward to a little more breathing room to do some fun stuff…like work from home, and blog, and knit, and play with the boys… 🙂
Not often I’m jealous of you city mice but that’s one statement that’ll do it — though if I’m there, I’m getting their most-perfect-in-the-universe steak fries.
We are plotting a run to IKEA for this week’s Friday evening entertainment. We were tempted to go to the one that’s a bit further away, but across the street from the BBQ place, but we made yummy chickpea chili in the crockpot, so that’ll have to wait for another day.
She is so amazing! No wonder you’re such a doting aunt! 🙂
Speaking of doting, I have been loving my wfh* day today…Finny and I lounged in our pajamas, did some work, took a lunch time walk, and now it’s nap while mama works time. I miss these guys.
Marlo’s been throwing food since she was two. My favorite was when she was launching tapioca pudding with a half-done pickle in the well known Indianapolis eatery Shapirio’s. Unfortunately, I wore most of the aforementioned pudding, and our table looked like there had been a bar fight there.
LOL! That’s great. I love the thought of flying pudding, and with a pickle no less … 😀 I hope you remind her of it often now that she’s a respectable and popular restaurateur.
Thanks. I am kind of amazed at all the media attention she has gotten but I guess the combination of cupcakes, booze, and a buoyant personality is irresistible.
How did you know I was wishing I could just stay home and play with Finny and CBtY and Boo this week? 😉
My move to the new team at work becomes official on Friday, so I’m looking forward to that. Most of them work from home >90% of the time, so I see some happy changes in my future. 🙂
Everyone have a great week – maybe we’ll get some spring weather later this week?
I moved to WFH back in Jan. (helping Mrs. ID with IT & consulting) and its much less stressful. There is, however, ample temptation to digress into other areas;-)
That’s not the way it ever worked for me. I always got less done when I had to go to the office or a customer site than I did at home — of course, I didn’t have some of your distractions.
My subject was 49 characters so that’s how I do it. When I reply to a long one and it puts the “Re:” in front, I just do what you did — chop off some characters.
It might be here. The forecast was for rain pretty much the whole week. Instead, bright sun, blue skies and low 60s.
Maybe I should sneak out of here to enjoy it…
We got another 15″ of snow arrived March 21-22.
So this is what the driveway into the
farmyard looks like.
Our trusty 4020JD with snow blower attached.
Note there’s no cab. The old timers say this
sort of thing puts hair on your chest…
Fortunately we had decent weather conditions
on the three days it took to reconnect us to
the rest of the world.
After the snow removal”entertainment” I
decided to enjoy some x-c skiing, waxless
so far. Although I may break out the Bonna
pair tomorrow even if it requires an
application of Klister, (high of 38F.)
A stray yeti or more likely MsNDD
And I intend to set a new record,
cross country skiing in April. Stand by
for further reports.
Good morning, Andi.
It is most definitely spring.
Lots of wildflowers in full bloom. Saw dandelions this weekend. All the signs are there.
Getting ready for young asklet’s visit. Two weeks of spring break stuck in NYC could be problematic. He’ll arrive tomorrow morning and stay here till next Wednesday.
Hi again NDD,
I vaguely recall breaking a pair of Bonna skis while testing out our home made ski jump (we’re talking mid-60s).
Of course, ski jumping was almost a religion where I grew up.
Somewhere under there is the GOP challenger for 2012.
Hope everyone’s doing well. Plenty sunshine & melting snow here on the hill today, plus crocuses & many robins. Looks like snow for tonight, tomorrow, Friday & Saturday though. Winter’s farewell embrace, I do hope.
I think we should start a rumor that aliens have landed in Brown County and I have a photo of the invaders at the spaceship’s door. I’ll just photoshop in an image from the movie Mars Attacks! and we’ll be good to go. 🙂
It is creepy but nearly as much as the ones where the red sprout has snaked out of the nut and plowed into the ground. (Is that enough suggestive enough?)
We had a very light snowfall; 2″ max as of this morning.
I’m starting to figure out that when the power company robo-calls us to advise moving to civilization because power-outs are likely (I live with an elderly person), we will not have a power-out.
🙂
Couldn’t be happier we didn’t, either. Wasn’t looking forward to chopping wood in the snow with flu.
I think the Bradford Pears may be blooming too. I’ll have to walk over a few blocks to see, if tonight’s winds don’t blow them off the trees. Weather advisory says gusts up to 57 mph after 1 am.

”Some days I find it impossible to get out of bed. I never should’ve bought one designed by M.C. Escher.” ~ Stephen Colbert
Sounds about right. 🙂 How are you doing with the time change?
I’m trying to outdo Family Man on the slackerly thing. Time change doesn’t mean much when your whole day is open.
Seems like there’s either too much to do or not any. Any country estate-sitting in your future? That place was cool.
I wish I could find a way to make a living doing that. 🙂
Good morning CabinGirl! Me too with the time change, since I’m a night person anyway. The other stuff sounds fun.
I’m feeling better, the respiratory hack is leaving & the attack of the spring kitchen ants seems to have subsided for now, so life is good;-)
I’m glad you’re feeling better. There was something going around here that laid people low for weeks…cough, hack, sinuses, you name it.
Did I mention we have snow this morning? Poor daffodils.
I walked to the Hobnob for an apple turnover earlier and it was spitting a little sleet & snow then, but I doubt we’ll see any accumulation (I hope).
I walked to the Hobnob
Not often I’m jealous of you city mice but that’s one statement that’ll do it — though if I’m there, I’m getting their most-perfect-in-the-universe steak fries.
Walkability is the one thing I wish my house had more of…maybe in my next life. 🙂
This Hobnob sounds intriguing. ..
“intriguing”
As is the rustic restaurant & country store across the street that features fried biscuits & apple butter;-)
How did you know I was remembering the pictures of the fried biscuits when MaryB was in town to visit you all? 😉
Well maybe you can come down here and get your own picture (and biscuits) the next time you head out to the midwest. 🙂
We could do a pool on how many Boo could consume at a sitting;-)
Hmm…those fried biscuits did look tasty. 🙂
We are plotting a run to IKEA for this week’s Friday evening entertainment. We were tempted to go to the one that’s a bit further away, but across the street from the BBQ place, but we made yummy chickpea chili in the crockpot, so that’ll have to wait for another day.
Glad to hear that you’re better. We haven’t seen the ants. Yet.
The little buggers are probably in suspended animation up your way from the sound of your wintery weather.
Another cold day today, but sunny for a change. No ants, no daffodils.
I’m going to try and walk later on. Hopefully it will warm a bit.

Sound like a great lead-in to the weekend. Maybe only better if you and Finny took a nap together. 🙂
Wow! Very nice article. Congrats to Marlo! I would be proud too:)
D’oh — I never thought to link to the article. Thanks for doing that.
She’s so darn cute! Love the throwing flour photo. 🙂
I would think you’d be put off by anything that even faintly resembled snow. 🙂
lol, good point. But there have been enough signs of seasonal change lately that I’m feeling more hopeful. 😉
Marlo’s been throwing food since she was two. My favorite was when she was launching tapioca pudding with a half-done pickle in the well known Indianapolis eatery Shapirio’s. Unfortunately, I wore most of the aforementioned pudding, and our table looked like there had been a bar fight there.

very funny! (and she had the sense not to throw the pastrami)
But I’m sure that you wore it well. 😉
Congratulations! That’s a wonderful cover!
Thanks. I am kind of amazed at all the media attention she has gotten but I guess the combination of cupcakes, booze, and a buoyant personality is irresistible.
She is adorable, and with the bubbly oersonality to match.
Off topic, but I see our spammers are now cocky enough to make comments to me…don’t they know I have smiting powers?
to use the infamous phrase, bring it on!
Well, oh super smiter, I did see our spammer …
How does that booze fit in with cupcakes and buoyancy?
It’s how the booze fits in with the cupcakes that’s the key. The media love the idea of the cucapke/beer or wine pairings.
all those cupcakes and she looks like that! please tell me there was photoshop involved! p.s. congrats Andi!!! must be your good influence!
She has the world’s most incredible metabolism — she eats a ton and never gains any weight. Definitely not fair.
As you might remember from last summer’s meetup at Sweet Revenge, there’s no photoshopping needed.
I’m envious of her metabolism…I’ll have to take finny for a hike just to work off my post-ypga breakfast today.
Well I’m pretty sure she’d be jealous of your having a Finny to take for a walk. 🙂
all the more reason for another visit! (wonder how many cupcakes Finny will order now!)
yes, I do remember – though I was also blinded by the cupcakes
I guess they are pretty mesmerizing — luckily for her.
Fantastic! Hope the publicity translates to a nice jump in business.
Also hope to find Sweet Revenge myself in the near future.

Good morning all!
Just another beautiful spring day. Well I guess you can’t have everything. p)
Hope everyone in the pond is doing fine and take care.
FM
Hi FM! How are doing this fine morning?
FM! Hope you and George are okay!
Good morning FM, have a wonderfully slackerly day!
Glad to see your cranky puter is letting you bop around the net today. Hope it keeps behaving.
Impressive exercise in concentration – trying to get the food dish to levitate! and good morning, all!
Good morning! I’m heading out, but dallying a bit in the cafe this morning.
More likely he’s trying to levitate Bebo … right out of the house.
How did you know I was wishing I could just stay home and play with Finny and CBtY and Boo this week? 😉

Everyone have a great week – maybe we’ll get some spring weather later this week?
90% – terrific!
Yeah, we’ll see how it works out for me…sometimes it’s a little easier to get uninterrupted work time at the office. 🙂
Trust me, Finny can be very distracting. 🙂
And a whole lot more fun, I’ll bet;-)
There’s always something more delicious in the other food bowl.
That subject reminds me, how the heck do you get more than 50 characters to display in your subject line? I always get “Subject is too long” message.
My subject was 49 characters so that’s how I do it. When I reply to a long one and it puts the “Re:” in front, I just do what you did — chop off some characters.
Doh! Didn’t think of the Re:
There’s nothing worse than a circumcised subject line.
Owee!
Well if that’s the worst thing you can think of, I’m very jealous of your life. 😉
Just a quick drive-by hi as I run out the door this morning! Hope everyone is doing well.
And where is our spring weather? It’s damn cold here.
Have a great day, CG!
It might be here. The forecast was for rain pretty much the whole week. Instead, bright sun, blue skies and low 60s.

love the photos!
Good morning, NDD!
Greetings from Geneva in springtime…
Bonna skis! The old kind made of wood?
And at 38 deg it definitely sounds like Klister conditions – use the red version.
Morning ask. Is it starting to look like it really is spring there yet?
Good morning, Andi.
It is most definitely spring.
Lots of wildflowers in full bloom. Saw dandelions this weekend. All the signs are there.
Getting ready for young asklet’s visit. Two weeks of spring break stuck in NYC could be problematic. He’ll arrive tomorrow morning and stay here till next Wednesday.
I am jealous of your wildflowers. I’m also enjoying picturing them.
Hope you two have a great time!
And good evening to you ask,
Yeah, you guess it!
I’ve still got my original pair of wood Bonna skis, (with the pine tar base.)
Short of time today so I used the waxless ones, but I think I’ll try that Red Klister out tomorrow.
As you may recall, the old wood Bonna skis are a bit wider than the non-wood designs, so they’re better on the non-groomed traverses.
Hi again NDD,
I vaguely recall breaking a pair of Bonna skis while testing out our home made ski jump (we’re talking mid-60s).
Of course, ski jumping was almost a religion where I grew up.
Thanks for the link, ask. I very much enjoyed perusing the info there.
And I’ve decided to put that area on my travel list when I have an opportunity to visit the “Old Country” again.
BTW My mother’s folks came from the Stavanger area, father’s from Mjosa area.
I’m with Errol — love the photos. But I sure hate that you had to take them now.
Snow pretty too; in ND. Which is an uncomfortably too few degrees of latitude away.
Good things these are slow growers of this hump day would be a lot harder to get over.

Yikes! What is that?
Well, its either an alien spacecraft or an acorn sprouting, maybe?
Somewhere under there is the GOP challenger for 2012.
Hope everyone’s doing well. Plenty sunshine & melting snow here on the hill today, plus crocuses & many robins. Looks like snow for tonight, tomorrow, Friday & Saturday though. Winter’s farewell embrace, I do hope.
Wishing all a good hump, ’til later ..
Egads, I hope not. I don’t want any of them anywhere near me.
I hope your plans for sweet revenge (mentioned above) bear lovely fruit. 🙂
Hope I’ll be able to eat sweets again by then, too. Including the fruit.
🙂
I think we should start a rumor that aliens have landed in Brown County and I have a photo of the invaders at the spaceship’s door. I’ll just photoshop in an image from the movie Mars Attacks! and we’ll be good to go. 🙂
Maybe we could add a few crop circles to go with?
Might oaks from little acorns grow.
For some reason this picture creeps me out.
It is creepy but nearly as much as the ones where the red sprout has snaked out of the nut and plowed into the ground. (Is that enough suggestive enough?)
Quite beautifully suggestive, Andi. I do believe you have a future in woodland porn.
” He fell upon the wet, glistening deer carcass in orgiastic abandon, his taut muscles writhing in canine pleasure .. ”
WW, I think you have a future in woodland porn (or is that a present?)
That was my past, Errol. Definitely my past.
😀
for all this wild prose.

Oh my! (she purred)
Seeing as that’s close to life size, whoever “she” is must have very small standards. 😉
“Fire bad.
Tree pretty.”
After 3 days of early spring camping with 6th graders, I’m with Buffy.
Up to 10 inches of snow tomorrow! Did I miss spring and summer?
Ack! NDD’s snowstorm must have jumped over us only to land on NY state. Sorry:(
Get ready for power outs, too!
Hope all the little buds make it thru OK.
Yep. I can almost hear the branches falling across power lines.
Losing power while having a March snowstorm would be beyond extreme cruelty. I hope yours stayed on and the snow melts very soon.
It turned out to be mostly slush/rain. The trees are all white and looking very pretty.
We had a very light snowfall; 2″ max as of this morning.
I’m starting to figure out that when the power company robo-calls us to advise moving to civilization because power-outs are likely (I live with an elderly person), we will not have a power-out.

Hey, good luck with all that snow.
And “Did I miss spring and summer?”
That’s just what we’ve been wondering here too.
Good to see you, NDD! May Gaia shed springtime kindness upon you soon.
Thanks for the kind wishes.
We had 40F and sunshine today, so I enjoyed that with my 10th consecutive day x-c skiing.
Congratulations on both counts!
Your neighborhood looks like a lovely place to be, as well.
Yeah, it is, long as the wind speed stays below, say, 30 mph. hah!
Nice day here, yesterday’s snow and rain gone. It’s actually sunny. The b2 boy and I will head out for some errands. See y’all later on.
Taste o’ spring ~ Redbud buds out back today.
oh lovely!
I think the Bradford Pears may be blooming too. I’ll have to walk over a few blocks to see, if tonight’s winds don’t blow them off the trees. Weather advisory says gusts up to 57 mph after 1 am.
You’re way ahead of us. Ours are barely budding … but it’s one more sign that color is coming back to the woods so I’m more happy than jealous. 🙂
