Lindsey Lohan really is a knucklehead. Just do your community service or you’re going to go to jail.
I don’t know what’s more incredible, that a surfer stood on the back of a Great White Shark and survived or that there is a Global Shark Attack File in Princeton, New Jersey.
Ron Kuby is at it again.
An artist arrested for applying body paint to a nude model in New York’s Times Square will have charges against him dropped if his models strip naked only after dark, according to a court agreement reached on Thursday.
Police arrested Andy Golub, 45, in July and charged him with violating public exposure and lewdness laws. He has been painting nude models for about three years.
Golub’s lawyer, Ronald Kuby, argued that New York laws do not prohibit public nudity in the name of art, and a compromise was reached that was the basis of the court ruling.
Under the agreement, “he is permitted to paint bare breasts any time, anywhere, but the G-strings have to stay on until daylight goes out,” Kuby said after a hearing in Manhattan criminal court.
You can bid for his assisted suicide machine at the Kevorkian Estate Sale. Another option? Suicidal Roller Coaster ride.
An option for suicide “with elegance and euphoria” is how Lithuanian-born Ph.D. candidate Julijonas Urbonas (London’s Royal College of Art) described his “Euthanasia (Roller) Coaster,” currently on the drawing board. Urbonas’ model of “gravitational aesthetics” would be a third-mile-long, 1,600-foot-high thrill ride engineered to supply 10 Gs of centrifugal force (a spin at about 220 mph) to induce cerebral hypoxia, forcing blood away from the head and denying oxygen to the brain. Euphoria (and disorientation and anxiety, but not pain) are likely states to precede the brain’s shutdown. Urbonas insisted that users would have the option through the first two minutes of the three-minute ride to rethink their decision and bail out (or else to push the final “FALL” button). (Suicide is legal in four European countries and Oregon and Washington.) [Discovery News, 9-19-2011]
What are you doing this weekend? Got any weird plans?
Not frivolous, but since this is the closest thing to an open thread in a long time, I’d like to ask people to read and comment on this piece, entitled, “Postal Workers:The last union”

A Shark can live in New Jersey waters?
Only one from Philly!!
Indeed.
Thanks for the interesting link. My comment was intended to be snarky. Once, I visited Asbury Park on business. I took my one and only swim in the Atlantic. I emerged with a greasy coating on my body. Yuck! The Pacific is much better, but if you will forgive a little home town pride, Lake Michigan is better than either. You emerge clean. There are no sharks. The waves are short and choppy. They don’t pound you like the Pacific. You can get there by public transportation.
in costa rica i felt the same way bathing in the atlantic, greasy and grey, even smelling toxically chemical. course, just thinking about all the shit poured into the gulf of mexico helped explain that…
went west to guanacaste on the pacific and things were way better, bluer.
cleanest water of all was in hawaii. getting pounded in waves is the best legal fun in the world, but you gotta build up to it real slow.
and don’t EVER turn your back except when riding to shore!
Sounds cool. I’ve never been there. Would love too. Never turn your back lest you lose sight of shore? Or because of sharks?
Love to, not too. Where is my English? I had neighbors from Belize, they described how lovely (and poor) it was. I’ve always heard Costa Rica was lovely too (sic this time).
Driving my daughter to take the PSAT. Oh Boy!
What the heck is the PSAT?
Preliminary SAT.
The SAT for juniors.

maybe things’ll ease up a bit after the local election in nov. l’ve been pretty involved in a couple of local issues that are burning me out on politics in general…ergo, l have neither the time nor energy to get excited about the nat’l crapfest…esp the ratpublican nomination fiasco.
The cafe never closes you know. 😉
I hope that things turn out well locally for you.
AronRa is the best. I hope everyone subscribes to him after this; I’ve been a fan for years.

Not surprised at Arizona. The Boobie slogan.. maybe. But “Bumps” is objectionable? Come on!

UK defence minister resigns over ‘adviser’ scandal. Wrong name anyway … Fox.

I’ve been painting too many Victorian houses and not nearly enough nude models.
It’s not nice to link to FauxNews without telling us, even for Great White Shark stories. Esp. for GWS stories.
It was local.
Not frivilous, but just a reminder that the MLK Memorial Dedication happens Sunday. The President is the featured speaker.
I can honestly say that I’m not really sure if any of the major news channels will cover it, but the stations like TVONE and BET will have programming and I’m assuming so will CSPAN.
Anyway, here a little blurb to whet ur appetite:
