When I read the account of how the State Department learned of the assault on the Benghazi Consulate, and how they handled the immediate aftermath, it makes my even angrier about how the Romney campaign behaved in those hours. What an annoying jerk that man is. He has no sense of dignity or decorum. And, as we’ve seen with the recent hair-trigger Anti-American response to a perceived offense in the Arab World, we can’t afford to have a president who routinely offers grievous offense when he doesn’t even have the intention of doing so.

There are websites that are evaluating the traits of a psychopath, and he’s not looking good.
It’s pretty apparent Romney thought he had been gifted a great opportunity when Islamists rioted in front of the US embassy in Cairo and tore the American flag down to replace it with a fundamentalist one, all the while the State Department back home bitched with the people on the ground over a fucking twitter feed.
Little did he know that hundreds of miles away more Islamists were burning a different embassy, killing over a dozen people, including maybe the most popular and well-regarded ambassador within the foreign service.
This is what happens when you stop taking events seriously and start reducing everything into the crassest of political considerations right away. You blind yourself to the gravity of the situation and the needs of others. You turn yourself into a psycho.
He didn’t even have that excuse the next morning when he inserted his jerk mouth in between Hillary and Barack’s press appearances.
You turn yourself into a psycho.
Willard didn’t just turn into one!! He’s been one for a very long time. My proof? The picture here:

BooMan, you won’t find the answers in a nice review of events at Foggy Bottom. There were plenty of signs this year the 11th anniversary of 9/11 would not pass quietly in Libya. The US consulate should have been evacuated. One should ask where lies the failures to recognize unfolding events ending in the deadly attack. As I have stated before, Libya has no central authority to maintain security. The nation is divided in militias according to the dozens of tribes. Insult to the prophet Muhammad and charges of blasphemy are considered extremely grave. Even in Egypt, president Morsi was careful not to criticise the protests as this would place him in a position he himself would be culpable of blasphemy. Most likely the security forces protecting the US consulate in Benghazi stood down when the Salafist militia of Ansar al-Sharia attacked and entered the building. Remember the stupidity of William Hague threatening Ecuador the British would enter its embassy and take Julian Assange by force.
What makes you think that he doesn’t have the intention to offend?

“the recent hair-trigger Anti-American response to a perceived offense“
As I tried to suggest to you yesterday, what happened in Libya and elsewhere was anything but a “hair-trigger response to a perceived offense. The attack on the embassy was a well-planned assault that was planned for Sept 11, not a reaction to a stupid video that, by the way, had already been on YouTube for awhile without causing any kind of major reaction.
I wish I could expect a more thoughtful analysis of events such as these from “progressives” than we see from the other side. Unfortunately, knee-jerk responses to events in the Arab and Muslim worlds seem to be standard regardless of ideology.
