I have a thought, but before I share it, you have to read this first:
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) hailed efforts to arm opposition forces seeking to topple Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad, but said President Obama’s decision to aid the rebels may have come too late.
“Timing matters and these were options that were there for us a year-and-a-half ago,” said Rubio on ABC’s “This Week.”
Rubio said Obama had “failed” to identify pro-Western elements in the Syrian opposition sooner, leading to a situation where Islamic militants had gained the upper hand in the civil war.
I invite Marco Rubio to travel to Syria and find the pro-Western elements. I have one piece of advice, however. He better bring his cloning equipment.
Invite Rubio to find pro-Syrian elements within America, and when he fails, ask him why he’d expect to find pro-American elements in Syria.
That Rubio boy ain’t none too bright, now is he?
To quote two of America’s greatest philosophers, Foghorn Leghorn and Bug Bunny:
“That boy’s about as sharp as a bowling ball.”
“What a dope! What a MAROON!!!”
It’s easy! Look at old Senator McCain! Just bring a photographer with you, because pro-Western elements love getting their picture taken.
Reminds me of Ronald Reagan and Arms for Hostages, looking for Airports in Iran controlled by “moderates” within the Iranian government.
.
Senator Graham in agreement with the Muslim Brotherhood!!
See comment – Mursi cuts ties with Assad’s regime, calls for no-fly zone.
Europe is divided and considers sending arms into a warzone contrary to International Law. Obama has strong support from allies PM David Cameron and France President Hollande. The hands of Cameron are tied as his cabinet is split on the issue and parliament demands a vote. Ahead of the G8 Conference in Northern Ireland, President Putin taught Cameron a few lessons about sovereignty of a state and the legality of Russia delivering weapons to Syria. Regime change isn’t going to happen without a bitter fight. The farce of Obama’s red line being crossed because he says so isn’t going to fly. Russia and the global community won’t accept a repeat of March 2003. It must be painful, but the Western powers and the GCC states have failed to build a united opposition front who could take part in a political transition.
Rubio only eats human hearts figuratively.
Were too late in Syria is cover for the Republicans, for wasting our time by not increasing the debt limit holding the American hostage unless the top 1% get a tax break.
Rubio is just a worm, looking for another 150K to steal.
If there was anything comparable to Libya’ Transitional National Council in Syria, we would have been working with them all along.
Did anyone from this week ask the good Senator where he expected to find this people or did they just let it go unchallenged and what not?
Yes now its Obama’s fault there are no pro-western elements. Give me a break. Sunni’s are kind of pissed off about Iraq. Rebels are Sunni’s and foreign fighters are Sunni’s. We are in the middle of a religious argument that has gone on for 100s of years. That part of the world is very serious about religion. In case Repugs have not noticed.
They haven’t noticed because they themselves are not serious about religion. They just use it to gull voters into voting against their own interests.
No, no, silly. He obviously meant those groups who are pro-western Syria. Yep, that’s the ticket.
We can’t expect Marco to be up on foreign policy in the more arid regions of the world. We all know he requires a steady water supply to keep going.
Give Marco a M-16, put him on a plane to Amman, show him the border, and tell him to “show us how it’s done.”
Same for “Crashes” McCain.
Mr Rubio knows his audience. They couldn’t find Syria on a map of Syria let alone tell the difference between Shia and Sunni even if they wore name tags.
