Dolores O’Riordan (46), Lead Singer of The Cranberries has died.
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence, caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it’s not me
It’s not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are crying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Another mother’s breaking
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It’s the same old theme
Since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head, they’re still fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
Songwriter: Dolores Mary O’riordan
I teared up when I heard the news. Not because I’m an Irish-American but because I was working in eastern Europe during the time she wrote and sang her greatest creation for me the song “Bosnia” though she did so much other soulful music. I will so much miss her soul.
Meant to say “not just because I am an Irish American”. Sigh. Voices like her are lost so soon and yet we have monstrous voices like Trump’s still living. The universe is full of tricksters.
Well said. We have lost too many voices lately.
