Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the Cape May, New Jersey street scene. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
For this week I’ve continued to paint the thick plant growth out in front of the houses. It is now complete, with some green in front of the fence and the partial house to the right. I have also added a shadow line directly above the second story side window of the yellow house. Finally, I have adjusted the shadows on the fencing just a bit.
The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have a new painting to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here. (Currently under construction.)
Open it is.
In my Twitter feed, I found an article on a photographer who has been taking photos of the indigenous peoples in Siberia. That led me to an earlier article publishing some of the portraits he’s taken of the people in that vast region. His work has a sense of urgency. Many of these distinct cultures are disappearing. He’s trying to document the people and their cultures before they vanish.
Alexander Khimushin’s photography is fascinating. I appreciate a photographer who can create excellent photos of human or animal subjects. I’ve found much to love about the Humans of New York series that originated on Tumblr as well. Both photographers aim to not only photograph the person, but to tell her or his story in the process. It takes a certain patience and skill to do that well.
