There is reporting that the majority of the undeclared Senators are going to endorse Obama sometime this week after the polls close in Montana and South Dakota. The Obama campaign urged them to endorse before the polls close but they decided that would be needlessly disrespectful to Clinton. When this is over, they all have to work together, so this is probably a wise decision…take the long view.
There is also reporting that the Obama campaign is now reaching out to people in the Clinton campaign, presumably offering them some positions in the national campaign. And there is reporting that Clinton will concede after consultations with her staff in Chappaqua. But, until she concedes and recognizes the legitimacy of Obama’s victory under the rules, and until her dogs are called off around the blogosphere, there can be no peace.
So what happened with Larry Johnson’s ‘Tape’.
Dis he really say he was going to post it today? Now he says he’s heard about the ‘Tape’, not that he has it.
WTF?
She says the tape isn’t important. Its Larry’s description of the tape that is the story.
On that note, I have a tape of McCain drinking the blood of babies. Don’t worry about the tape, its my description that’s important.
it’s larry’s description that’s important?!
give me a break.
since his, and susan’s, credibility went down the porcelain receptacle some time back, l don’t think that one’s gonna fly.
Its hilarious they even tried.
Susan is throwing a hissy fit over there. We’re supposed to read Larry’s description of what’s on the tape. Unfortunately, like the tape, it doesn’t exist either. What does exist is a doctoring of a previous post where the following words are now omitted:
“I have not seen it but I have heard from five separate sources who have spoken directly with people who have seen the tape.”
Liars.
The tape is a MacGuffin. A device Hitchcock often used in his movies to move the plot along, in this case rabid anti-Obamaism, but that has little importance otherwise and may not even exist.
Those people are fucking insane! And the thing that’s so funny, is that for the past 3 weeks, Johnson has whipped up his fellow nutjobs into such a frenzy that they’ve been regugitating the existence of this tape for weeks, with no proof. Which just goes to show that they’re mindless morons anyway.
My but doesn’t this feel like mid-August 1945? The scattered by-passed garrisons and cut-off armies of the Empress need to hear her radio broadcast. “Bear the unbearable, Clintonistas! Events have proceeded not necessarily to our advantage!” I’m still kinda stunned by Larry Johnson but there are a good half-dozen other sites more or less like him, plus the supporters like the ones out on the street in front of the hearing in DC last Sat. Hope she gets them calmed down, as it would be in her long term self-interest.
Your comment posted twice. I’m assuming this was accidental — the servers have apparently been stressed today, among other things — so I deleted one of them. Just letting you know.
…“until her dogs are called off“
Add Jeralyn TalkLeft to that list of disinformers
“Clinton’s lead?”
Obama’s lead is from 3% of the votes in caucuses.”
In the court room Jeralyn couldn’t get away with this kinda talk.
that’s some hate on for Obama. I don’t see peace breaking out anytime soon.
Ah, Jeralyn.
And she and Armando would not be able to kick anyone that disagrees with them out of the courtroom in real life. Those two are obnoxious the way they try to enforce the rulz of their site. It’s actually amusing the way they pretend to have objective rules on commenting. What they do is simply berate anyone that doesn’t agree with them. They come up with some flimsy ad hoc justification for their selective enforcement of “the rulz” (they only enforce rules against Obama supporters–or people that don’t support Hillary). I saw a comment thread on TalkLeft recently where Armando berated a commentator for disagreeing with him (per usual) and then threatened to kick him off the site for “lying” about Clinton (I can’t remember the exact particulars but it wasn’t “lying” it was simply bringing up a negative point about Clinton that Armando disagreed with). To which the other newbie Baby Boomer politicos drawn to TL commented what a great lawyer Armando must be. They all piled on cheering Armando’s “lawyering” skillz for kicking his opponents off the debating floor and using some flimsy ad hoc justification for doing so. Yeah. What a sign of a good debater. When he can’t win he throws his competition out of the room and revels in the adulation of his fellow ditto heads.
If this is a sign of Armando’s lawyering skillz then no wonder he’s a blogger and not a real lawyer.
Why is TalkLeft still on a lot of good blogger’s blogrolls?
He is horrendous. My friend’s 62 yr old grandmother Pam Shyliss has been a commenter there for years. She posted a piece that was not pro Clinton and debating another poster. Armando banned her and called her Pam Syphilis, that’s right he made fun of a 62 yr old grandmother and turned her name from Shyliss to Syphilis…..he is really a great lawyer…NOT… I hope Armando is going to Netroots Nat. this year , because I am looking forward to Grandma Pam confronting him.
Damn. “Horrendous” is right. I had no idea he was that messed up.
God, I hope you’re right Booman. We’ve had enough internecine warfare. When our enemies aren’t each other, but the GOP and another four years of Bush. We need to unite and stop McCain.
And Wednesday morning would be none too soon. Heck, right now would be none too soon.
Yeah. If Hillary is going to end her campaign, then she’ll need to do much more than endorse Obama. She’ll need to campaign for him.
I’m depressed; I’ve been reading comments at mainstream blogs and the Clintonistas are rabid in their refusal to accept Obama a nominee. So rabid I almost suspect them of being McCain operatives.
There’s talk of forming a new party devoted to electing Hillary. (Yeah, like that would work.)
There’s ranting about Obama’s Chicago Mob of Syrian Islamic Power Brokers?
And, yes, I’ve seen several references to Michelle’s Black Panther raving against whitey. So do you think we could start a rumor that magically transforms into presumed fact?
It’d keep Obama out of the White House, and keep the Overton Window pushed firmly to the right.
I’m just wondering why there are still superdelegates endorsing Clinton. To such people, politically involved as they are, it should be clear by now that Obama’s won this soundly. And, too, that it’s the kind of politics practiced by Obama and Dean that’s going to control the Democratic party for the foreseeable future. The phony “centrism” of the DLC’s rightward charge is done for. So why line up behind it?
Fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Or maybe they owe something to the Clintons and this is the Clintons calling in that favor.
At any rate, soon enough it won’t matter.
on what funds.? There’s a deal between the two camps.
Clinton to suspend campaign
Ah, the sweet hissing and spitting of a dying campaign.
I do think the “Obama’s Chicago Mob of Syrian Islamic Power Brokers” thing would make a good sitcom, though. I’ll go make a few calls. Don’t worry, I’ll get you a percentage.
I say leave them be for a while. We have all supported losing candidates at one point or another in the past, so we all know how it feels.
Not all of them will come around, but it will take a while for the hurt and disappointment to go away…
I think you’re largely right. The wound need to scab over first; it’s too fresh. Many of them can’t accept Obama as the nominee while they haven’t yet accepted that Hillary’s lost the nomination, strange as that sounds to many of us. There are still far too many deaf ears in Hillaryland, I think. Subtle overtures of symbolic peace offerings are probably enough for now.
If you do try to feed them, though, just keep your fingers away from their mouths.
It doesn’t sound strange at all. Enough people have invested enough emotional energy into Clinton’s campaign that they are going to need to go through the stages of grieving before they can accept Obama as the nominee.
I’m just glad the convention is still almost three months away. Hopefully that’s enough time.
FYI, for those expecting to SEE the tape, GET REAL. Read Larry Johnson’s description of what is ON the tape. That is the story.
Good Lord. Larry has to be laughing at how he’s played the mindless.
As to Obama reaching out to people in the Clinton camp…I don’t trust a one of them. They better have minders. LOL!
Well, it depends. There are two kinds of people who work for these campaigns. On the one hand you have the loyalists who would walk through fire for their candidate. They will probably go home, lick their wounds, and go find something else to do for the Clinton cause. The others are political mercenaries. Politics is what they know and their allegiance is to getting paid. Some of them I would trust OK in Obama’s camp. Others, I would agree with you — I’d trust them to do their jobs, but I would keep a close eye on them.
I hear ya, but unfortunately it’s all moot until the Clintons’ concede. If people are still supporting their campaign so blindly, after all that’s happened, then I don’t see these supporters moving at all until there’s a signal issued from the top. After that happens, though, we’ll really see what’s important to them.
I will never understand the mental gymnastics it takes to think that a vote between McCain and Obama can be so callously thrown in either direction – especially by people who study/thrive on politics. They are so different ideologically that raw emotions would be their only excuse – which really excuses nothing if McSame gets his warmongering fingers on the red button.
Here’s to hoping that this is Hillary’s version of the Ebola virus – the hotter the virus, the faster it burns out.
