of the Master Slacker, I’m planning to do a whole lot of nothing today (of course, following the Grand Design of my Masters, I’ll also be planning a walk in the woods).
Morning Miss Andi!!!! Lovely Picture as always!!! You capture the beauty of nature and your walks and share it with the world. Thank you for that. Today will be a lazy day for me but inbetween naps I will be doing lots of holiday designs for my design sites.
I have 5 sibling, a lot of neices and nephews and an unknown number of cousins. You’ve heard of people who say they aren’t citizens of any country, but they are a world citizen. I’m sort of like a world relative. 🙂
I was wondering. I am from a fairly small family. I have 1 brother but oodles of cousins as I had 14 aunts and uncles. None of the cousins are that close. I am close to a few but very seldom if ever see them. I guess being the odd one out in the family except for a female cousin I don’t fit in. Part of that might be that I distanced myself from the family so I wouldn’t have to deal with rejection that I saw so many of my friends go through back in the day.
When I was younger the biggest thing I wanted to do was get away from the family. It seems age has mellowed all of us out and even the most stubborn has become more accepting.
You’ve got an honorary cousin here whose just happy you’re around. Now like Andi said, you get some rest. 🙂
Thank you!!!! I actuall;y miss seeing all my family but the last time I did we didn’t seem to have that much to talk about at all. I am one of the few liberals in the family and the rest seem afraid of me. LOL
If it’s good enough for AndiF its good enough for me — I’m doin a whole lotta nuthin today. (Except go to a wedding at 1:30, but it’s at a close church and should be less than 1/2 hour).
Having to go to a wedding gives me the vapors. I’d have to worry about what to wear for at least 6 weeks. I haven’t worn a dress or dressy shoes since 1978 and last time I checked it was inappropriate to wear cargos and sandles.
The reception is tonight and I’m starting to wonder what I’ll wear. I’m thinking I might have to break my slackerly promise and go buy black pantyhose. The wedding is this afternoon and I figure I’ll just wear something I’d wear to work.
I just made the rounds of the resale shops around town and bought one of those really heavy metal porch chairs that bounce when you sit in them. I love those old things and they’re hard to find.
I have a couple and I did one sky blue and the other yellow. I was going to sponge some blue onto the yellow — but I never got around to it. That was two years ago. I doubt I’ll do it now.
I have a great idea and it would hardly take any time at all. Spray some paint on the seat of your pants and then sit down. Instant customized chair. Better than a name tag. It’ll be like saying “mary’s butt goes here.”
Darn. I guess we’re still missing each other. The Totos are fine for being 14 1/2 years old. One (Toto3) has a bad back. The other (Toto2)has lost one eye and has impaired vision in the other. Toto3 is nearly deaf although he always hears the food dishes clanging together. Toto2’s hearing is slipping too. He used to have radar ears.
But other than that they are great. Toto2 still knows how to be so cute we can’t refuse him anything. Toto3 becomes a puppy again when he senses a walk is in his near future and dashed around and play bows and runs around until we’re all harnessed and out the door and down the stair.
They are a lot of fun and unlike puppies we don’t have to be really energetic to take care of them. They sleep a lot. LOL
Not much, we just did a bunch of housecleaning. I discovered some cookie dough in the back of the fridge and I’m thinking it might be time to go make some cookies. How about you?
Hope your headache gets better. I went skating today, but there were two church bus loads of skaters on the ice making it difficult to skate with any speed safely. I guess I’ll go ride my bike on the trainer now.
The high in the 40s but there was no sun and a very brisk wind so it felt colder.
I’m kind of torn of Borat — I’m sure it’s funny but a whole movie of people make asses of themselves just doesn’t really appeal. Of course, we hardly ever go to movies anyway so if I watch it it’ll be on tv anyway.
ok, wait a minute. The blog owner is some unknown dude who is reviewing a book by “my new friend” which in no way means I’m gay or even bi. So there. 😛
The Diva’s are being Divas and working my last nerve or at least Bette is. LOL I am doing better but still really tired. I wanted to work on holiday designs today but am not in the mood to think cheery thoughts. LOL
Evening all and sundry! What’s up in the cafe? I’ve been cleaning like crazy. Since I found out that I’m slightly allergic to cats it seemed like a good idea to vacuum the mounds of cat hair that our eight cats have deposited around the house. Do you know that we have wood floors? And here I thought we had very loosely woven gray, white, and orange wall-to-wall carpeting. And our sofa is green! I’d forgotten.
Time for a break, some hot soup, a visit to the cafe.
ROTFLMAO!!!!! I think if I was allergic to cats teh cats would be finding new homes. Of course I have sworn never to have a cat in my house again anyway and I am not allergic to them.
I’m very mildly allergic and very strongly attached to the little varmites. If I have to vacuum, I can stand it. Though I still think the critters should help.
She was doing real job type work today, so I started without her. We try to spread the jobs around. Plus we bought a new vacuum and wanted to see how it worked. (Pretty exciting Friday night, huh?)
I understand completely. I bought one of those vacuums that don’t use bags – just a clear container that you empty and a couple of washable foam filters. It’s so satisfying to dump out that enormous clump ofhair and dust.
No, really! And the handle pulls away from the base and a tube comes out. Then you have a twelve foot hose already attached. Great for stairs and under furniture!
Warning: keep getting all turned on by vacuum cleaners and you and kidspeak will be giving Jim and me some competition for the title of Second Most Boring Couple in the World.
However, I have to note that possibly our most memorable set of Christmas gifts to each other (in Teach’s recollection) was the time that I gave Teach a toaster and he gave me a workmate.
LOL the sheet wouldn’t even be needed for me. I am use to the diva dpgs fur being everywhere. I am sure some of your brood would want to sleep with the guests also. LOL
LOL sounds like the futon at my place. I am planning on building a large window seat/storage unit with an oversized pillow to put in front of the front window for the dogs and then buy a real sofa for me. LOL
I LOVE windowseats! The old neighborhood that I grew up in had several of them tucked away in different windows. I think that’s where I learned to be so introspective. 🙂
A friend of mine in raliegh had an apartment in the historic distric where the window sill were wide enough to sit on with pillows and read. I use to hang out there a lot.
I really like that part of Raleigh and wish I could live there instead of in the middle of the sprawl. At least the buildings have some character and charm. Where did you live when you were in Raleigh?
OMG I lived in quite a few apartments there. I lived mainly over by st Marys college and state. Older apartment buildings or houses that had been cut up into apartments. They were cheaper and closer to work and the bar for me. LOL
I like the st. mary’s area. You mean over by Wade or Peace St. or around there? Still don’t know my way around very well. You’d be shocked at the how the area has grown. massive traffic nightmares.

I think you should pamper that flu all day today and put off the designs till tomorrow.
I know I should probably listen to you but…..
Here is a New Years design.
Here’s to a Blue New Year
now get back on that couch and snuggle with reba and bette. 🙂
ROTFLMAO!!!! Thanks. I am sitting at the computer and they are fast asleep on my bed. I am sure I will be joining them in a few.
I agree with our resident Mother Hen…you need to lie around and do lots of nothing today. Sleeping should be the biggest effort you make.
Okay!!! I see I am being ganged up on this am. LOL Did you see the design I made with your sig. line?
Impeachment
I need one in purple, don’t you think? 🙂
I’d like a shirt with that famous photo of Cheney with the evil sneer, and the name Darth Cheney. Simple, understated, effective.
I aim to please. LOL
Darth Cheney
Stop working and start napping!
LOL I have taken two naps so far and one of them was for 4 hours.
I just ordered one for the younger Nature Boy. Thanks refi!
Thanks hope he likes it!!!!
Good morning Andi and Refinish.
Refinish I agree with Andi. Pamper yourself this weekend and plant yourself on a couch and just veg.
And how many kinds of nothing do you have on tap today?
I’ve got nothng to do until my brothers, that were supposed to be here yesterday, show up today. Then I plan to do less than nothing if possible.
Have you got a slackerly day planned?
Okay, I have to ask. How dang big is your family?
I have 5 sibling, a lot of neices and nephews and an unknown number of cousins. You’ve heard of people who say they aren’t citizens of any country, but they are a world citizen. I’m sort of like a world relative. 🙂
I was wondering. I am from a fairly small family. I have 1 brother but oodles of cousins as I had 14 aunts and uncles. None of the cousins are that close. My computer froze up and had to restart. You are welcome and I think I’m going to take my own advice and take a nap.
Later.
Ooh, stay away from the scary liberal! LOL
Morning familyMan!!!! I doubt I will do many designs but I do have to get a few done and I do enjoy the work. LOL
Just as long as you take breaks and rest. Don’t want you overworking and prolonging the flu.
I will. I am really tired and plan to sleep a lot this weekend. LOL I will probably take more naps than you do. LOL
That would be hard to imagine, but I hope you do. 🙂

Of course I meant sandals. Sheesh.
The reception is tonight and I’m starting to wonder what I’ll wear. I’m thinking I might have to break my slackerly promise and go buy black pantyhose. The wedding is this afternoon and I figure I’ll just wear something I’d wear to work.
What’s up with you today?
I just made the rounds of the resale shops around town and bought one of those really heavy metal porch chairs that bounce when you sit in them. I love those old things and they’re hard to find.
This evening we’re going to see Borat.
Going to the movies sounds better than going to a reception.
I love those old chairs. The 50’s style that you can paint with rustoleum? With the shell shaped back?
Same kind, but not shell shaped. I’m going to spray paint it a happy color tomorrow but I’m not sure what. I’m thinking of apple green.
Apple green would look great.
It’ll be like saying “mary’s butt goes here.”
heh. Great Idea. But my fat ass would take up the whole seat though 🙂
Heh. Mine too. 🙂
Have fun at the wedding, maryb. Drive safely.
Later.
Hey FM!!!! Great job announcing the Slackerly Wombat on your blog . Eddie is a doll!
Thanks to Keres for introducing us to such an amazing new (to me) pal.
{{FM}} Hope I didn’t steal your thunderous announcement, but I check your blog early and saw it and couldn’t resist. Love it!
Hi Puget4, I’ve seen that you’ve been around but we’ve missed each other. How are the totos these days?

They are a lot of fun and unlike puppies we don’t have to be really energetic to take care of them. They sleep a lot. LOL
Hellooooooo?! Anyone here? I’m bored and I have an awful headache and my house is a mess and no one loves me and and and…
Oh don’t be silly. Your hair isn’t that big a mess.
so you think it’s just a bad hair day? Could be.
What’s up at your house tonight?
Not much, we just did a bunch of housecleaning. I discovered some cookie dough in the back of the fridge and I’m thinking it might be time to go make some cookies. How about you?
Lazy morning, afternoon, and evening.
Hope your headache gets better. I went skating today, but there were two church bus loads of skaters on the ice making it difficult to skate with any speed safely. I guess I’ll go ride my bike on the trainer now.
Ice skating or roller skating? What’s that wife of yours up to?
Did you go see borat?
(Hopeful Sr loves you.)
Naw, I didn’t think sitting through a 2 hour movie with the sound at ear-splitting levels would do my headache much good.
Is it still warm there? It was over 80 today but one of those bright fall days that you want to freeze for later.
I get really uncomfortable watching people get embarrassed, but I think it’s probably good therapy for me. 🙂
This website is reviewing my new friend’s books and lecture series. I feel like such a slug next to you motivated people. :/
funny, that seems to be the b-ham art museum. Hmmm.
correct linky
but I must have missed the intro to your new friend — who is he and how did you acquire him?
ok, wait a minute. The blog owner is some unknown dude who is reviewing a book by “my new friend” which in no way means I’m gay or even bi. So there. 😛
ah, blaire — the first time I just looked at the web site and didn’t read the post.
(are too)
what’s with the “you” — I’m an unmotivated slug and damn proud of it.
Hah! I’ve never seen a slug move as fast as you.
but I do leave a slimy trail wherever I go.
screaming back into the void. LOL
Phew! Now I don’t have to keep screaming. How are you and the divas doing?
The Diva’s are being Divas and working my last nerve or at least Bette is. LOL I am doing better but still really tired. I wanted to work on holiday designs today but am not in the mood to think cheery thoughts. LOL
Feeling some postelection letdown?
no just still really tired from the flu and cannot concetrate on being cheerful. LOL
Jim, your energy scares me! I’ve got to bring my trainer in from the garage. It’s too cold to use out there now.
Evening all and sundry! What’s up in the cafe? I’ve been cleaning like crazy. Since I found out that I’m slightly allergic to cats it seemed like a good idea to vacuum the mounds of cat hair that our eight cats have deposited around the house. I’m highly allergic to cats, but I have two. 🙂
You should get someone else to vacuum and dust for you. You hear that kidspeak?
or get the ones that don’t shed or have dander
What?? Are you implying that the Divas don’t shed?? Now, they are clearly really fine beasts, but that’s beyond reality!
This new one has a button you push and the bottom of the clear container swings away releasing the hair and dust. Way cool!
Wow, how our lives have shrunk. 🙂 I found that exciting.
Oh, get this! You better sit down. The vacuum automatically adjusts for the depth of the pile. Automatically!
Get out!
No, really! And the handle pulls away from the base and a tube comes out. Then you have a twelve foot hose already attached. Great for stairs and under furniture!
Well it’s pretty tacky to go on and on about your gorgeous new friend and not post any pictures.
OMG! I bet it sucks like a dream!
You go it in one!
Warning: keep getting all turned on by vacuum cleaners and you and kidspeak will be giving Jim and me some competition for the title of Second Most Boring Couple in the World.
But it’s a really cool vacuum. It’s moved past our toaster as my favorite appliance.
It depends on what you classify as an “appliance.”
I suspect it depends more on what you classify as an appliance. There are many ways to relieve a headache.
Sadly, there are many ways to develop a headache as well. Sigh.
This thread has become Zen-like. What about the picture Andy mentioned?
That was for you — you can’t keep going on about your new delight and not share.
Erm, she was talkin’ to you.
Yeah, I kinda missed that one. KS covered for me.
OK, I really am trying to do real work tonight.
However, I have to note that possibly our most memorable set of Christmas gifts to each other (in Teach’s recollection) was the time that I gave Teach a toaster and he gave me a workmate.
I really like toast.
But in a Gift of the Magi twist, teach had sold all the bread to buy the workmate and you had sold all the tools to buy the toaster.
More of a Gift of the Male twist: Teach really wanted a toaster, and he really wanted the Workmate. He’s used both a lot more than I have.
I’m hurt. You know you use the workmate more than me. And I don’t object to your using the toaster.
yeah except it is saturday. LOL
My god, you’re right, what happened to Saturday?
No way I’m vacuuming up the dog hair on futon, then I’d be able to see all the worn spots and have to get a new cover.
Is that your passive/aggressive way of limiting overnight guests?
because then I put a sheet on the futon and I still don’t have to see the worn spots.
And you can come camp with us any time.
LOL the sheet wouldn’t even be needed for me. I am use to the diva dpgs fur being everywhere. I am sure some of your brood would want to sleep with the guests also. LOL
No, for some reason, once the futon becomes a bed, it’s dog-free territory. Unless you eat crackers in bed.

Yep that is the area and I lived right off hillsborough
If you ever want to come back and visit the old neighborhood we have a spare room. 🙂
Thanks!!! Next time I go home to visit Mom we will have to get together. She lives outside Zebulon now.
Here you go, AndiF!
I’m going to go open a new cafe. I think you should bring the froggie over to that one.
Be swept away over here.
