ZOMG! The new cafe loaded before I fell asleep tonight!

How is everyone?  My crazy work season is almost over – the congress is this week, and the clients are already winging their way to London.

I’m looking forward to a little R&R, too bad it looks like a bit of a low budget summer for us this year..but staycations are awesome too.

My crazy work season is still underway and will be through the end of the month. Every once in a while I come up for air, albeit briefly.

I’m with ya on the low budget. Jim and I are starting the Year of Living Cheaply (actually it’s 15 months till Social Security).

We’re skipping vacations this year, except maybe for some day trips or overnights. There are some nice state parks within a reasonable drive of us. Maybe you guys can go visit The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.

I’ve been wanting to do that Pine Creek Rail Trail for a while actually.  Have you been there already?

Ohiopyle is another favorite (western PA, with waterfalls, rail-trails, and Frank Lloyd Wright homes)…

AndiF on June 8, 2011 at 5:50 am

Nope, never been there but it certainly looks like a great place to hike. I’ll bet it’s gorgeous in the fall.

Ohiopyle sounds really nice … and a whole lot closer. 🙂

Maybe we should plan a BT meetup at the Grand Canyon of PA instead?  🙂

        We’ll miss seeing you too.

It’s interesting that you should say that.  I’ve only recently learned that Pa had its own Grand Canyon.  I’ll have to see it sometime.

Beautiful photo, Andi! Just luscious. So cool looking! Quite the relief. Very warm here today, with storms expected, maybe hail; it’s even warmer 2 hours to the south, in NYC. Temps should kiss 100F  there today.

Plenty work to do here now that there’s springtime. Wishing y’all a fine finish to the week & a glorious weekend!

Thanks WW and ID (I’m on dial-up at the moment so am being lazy in my replies).

WW, I hope the storms didn’t do any damage.

No, they didn’t. Lots of sound & fury though. Plenty fun. Cooled things off a little, too.

Welcome to the Dial-Up Club. Bet you’re glad it’s only temporary!

        🙂

Hi! I’m not sure if there’s an actual human being behind this post or if you’re some sort of corporate android. I’m really curious to know how you decide what your comment should be. Do you correspond to some sort of conversational logarithm? Or is it more random than that, kind of a content lottery? For example, if the picture posted above was a micro shot of the top of Donald Trump’s head, would your response still be ‘wow, what a beautiful place’?

In any case, you’re very creepy & your presence reminds me of the dehumanizing influence of corporate culture, which, ideally, would reduce the greater majority of living souls to single-function androids like yourself.
If you are not, in fact, a single-function android or even a rather physically challenged computer program, I dare you to prove it by exposing some sort of uinique sensibility unencumbered by a web link.
      Thanks.

Just a quick fly-by before another week of extreme wage slavery begins. Three more weeks of insanity, and then life calms down a bit. But it will be worth it.

      Good morning,
      Not much light…
Have to postpone summer vacation until second half of August (supposed to start at the end of this week).
Got update from swimmer this morning. She’s preparing for a 12-day field trip starting Wednesday. Really enjoying herself.

      • Indianadem
Indianadem on June 13, 2011 at 8:43 pm

Glad to hear swimmer’s excursion is going well. Sorry about the vacation postponement. The last few days here have been absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been planting things like crazy while the nice weather holds!

          Good morning,
Gardening seems a much preferable activity than the crazy schedule we’ve been at lately. Ah, just a few more years before I can follow you and JimF to a calmer state of mind.
swimmer takes her assignments in strides, though I am a bit worried when I hear that the director has put her in charge of the field team, including disbursement of funds in remote rural areas…

That’s a lot of responsibility for someone so young but it certainly says something very good about her that she’s been given it.

Looking forward to retirement — when it’s not that far away — is a bit of a pleasure in itself.

Young asklet was not too pleased either. He was looking forward to some quiet time at the coastal cabin.
But – we’ll do it in August instead.

          How is the young graduate?
