    Here’s a new cafe for the weekend…

Hi CabinGirl! I was just whining in the last cafe about both of us being down with an evil stomach bug for over a week. Enjoyed everyone’s vacation pics;-)

Andi, if you’re still around, maybe you can entice Second Nature here sometime for a mini-meetup. Have fun in Cincy.

I’m here…I responded to your comment in the other cafe too.  Glad you’re feeling well enough to type this morning.  ðŸ™‚

Glad you enjoyed the pics.  I don’t think we’ve seen enough of Andi’s yet.  ðŸ™‚

The sad thing is, we’re so behind at the office that I’ve had to go to work anyway. all week my day has been punctuated by frequent mad dashes to you-know-where.

Your vacation spot looks lovely. I miss the days when I lived by the coast in Florida, but not the summer heat. Its just as muggy and hot in our part of the midwest as it was there.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on August 4, 2007 at 8:49 am

Yuck.  Bing sick at work is no fun.

I spent a lot of summer time in Florida as a kid.  It always amazed me that the weather there was really pretty similar to SE PA summer weather.  Humidity, humidity, humidity…

The weather here has been really nice.  Breezy, not too hot.  Unlike last year, when it was triple digits and still air until the day before we left.

Mrs. Dem got to the NC beach week before last with a friend as a side trip from Chapel Hill. I’m not sure exactly where they were, but probably not near the outer banks.

from exciting suburban cincinnati, ohio! where the kids and I will see the Fs around noon before my niece’s outdoor (yuck) wedding this afternoon.  Mmmm, outdoors in southern ohio in august.  Anyone have one of those squirt-bottle fans?

Family Man on August 4, 2007 at 2:46 pm

Just got back from the city and grocery shopping.  I feel too worn out now to cook dinner, so I’ll let everybody fend for themselves.

Hope you had a good lunch with the Fs.  More power to ya on the outdoor wedding.  In conditions like this, they should think of wet tee shirt weddings. 🙂

Indianadem on August 4, 2007 at 7:40 pm

Yeah, toasty here, isn’t it? Sometime maybe you can come on over this way a little further for a meetup. Some friends just opened a new coffee house and cafe. Dessert’s on me and they have some tasty mud pies;-)

The old building housed a weekly community newspaper for decades and we sipped our coffee last Saturday, I recalled where the huge old linotype crouched back when I was a kid. If I dig really deep among my kid treasures, I bet I still have the lead slug with my name the operator made for me.

      Good morning, FM!

Another hot and humid day here, too. Plus we had thunderstorms last night so it will be a steam bath this morning.

    • Second Nature
Second Nature on August 5, 2007 at 9:15 am

The wedding is adorable though really hot…but thankfully very short.  The reception was down at the riverfront in a building with no AC and all of the fans kept blowing fuses.  Fortunately a big thunderstorm rolled through and blew rain and wind through the place.  It was bittersweet seeing all of the younger generation now in their late teens and twenties and with so damn much energy and inner light….sigh.

Heading back now for a 9 hour, rainy, hot drive.  Double ick.

We had rain all the way until we crossed into NC where it hasn’t rained since the Clinton administration.

The wedding was hot and sticky, but very sweet.

I saw that it’s supposed to be 100 even here this week.  Ick.

There was a wedding on the island near the British Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, and when I went paddling out to watch the sunset (where we went last year) I got treated to listening to the bluegrass music from the wedding out on the water.  It was so cool.

Labor was only 5 hours long…I got to the hospital at 8pm and had him at 9:31. Completely natural though that certainly was not the plan! The anesthesiologist was in the middle of a c-section when I got there so…sigh. 🙂 But all and all not a bad thing. Was 4 cm dilated when we got in…45 mins later was 6…and then 15 mins later was 9 so there ya go! Apparently I am now legendary at the hospital for the really quick birth. All of nurses came by to see him and were talking to everyone else about it lol.
