even in the virtual world, I’m no Mary Sunshine. Your greeter is an anal-retentive obsessive, causing her to get up every morning and do the coffee cart.
I certainly am today. I really did overdo it yesterday and when my head kept hitting the keyboard last night, I decided my body was telling me something.
Oddly I’m still very tired today, but that should clear up soon.
That’s one of my favorite things in the world. Unfortunately, I think last night was the last time I’ll be able to have my windows open until October. It’s supposed to be in the 90’s for the foreseeable future.
No you got it right. I’m just really slow this morning. I haven’t really noticed any difference. I’m still getting the daily HA’s. Just have to wait and see about the migraines.
originally and the house stays comfortable. The problem is that the humidity gets trapped in the woods and the house also stayed really damp. We had really bad problems with mold (to the point of leather shoes rotting) and finally gave in and put in air conditioning.
Humidity is the biggie here too. Lots of times it’s not too hot out, but I hate the feeling of everything in the house being damp, from the floors to the bedding. Nothing worse than damp sheets.
Our humidity problem was so bad we would have weeks where I had to throw all my weight against the wooden kitchen dor to get it open or closed…I gave up and put in the central air last year.
Our humidity has always been a big problem down here too. I would have never thought it, but the worst heat and humidity I ever experienced was when I lived in San Antonio. I thought the humidity would at least not be so bad, but it was worse.
They have half-days June 12, 13, and 14, and then they’re done. I’m looking forward to the no homework, sleep till 7 or 8, hang by the pool in the afternoons lifestyle again…
Good morning, CG and everyone.
Too busy and barely even lurking this week. Having visitors from the programme in Sudan here in NY this week and next.
Saw this comment by chance in ‘recent comments’.
Also have some issues to sort out on the home front as some may have seen in the Cafe last week.
What do you guys think of this draft LTE regarding our state’s science scores:
I read with interest that science scores among North Carolina students have stagnated or dropped since 1996 I and agree that one of the problems is the de-emphasis of science courses in favor of math and reading to comply with the constant testing required by No Child Left Behind.
However, I do not find it surprising in light of the fact that the party in power is largely controlled by the religious right, a group that used to be considered on the fringe but now has total dominion over the Republican party. This administration routinely uses bad science to advance their political agenda in every area from stem cell research to global warming to the teaching of evolution in schools.
It is no wonder that our children are falling behind in science when the people who run the country believe that Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church on Sunday.
I absolutely love being an instigator down here. My favorite thing is to watch the occupants of the car behind me reading my bumper stickers at a red light. They usually read with their lips moving – an indication of their intelligence perhaps.
Who would Jesus bomb?
We’re creating enemies faster than we can kill them.
Well behaved women rarely make history.
W – still an idiot. (looks just like the big W still the president.
And a red, white and blue ribbon that says: Just pretend it’s all okay.
I don’t like bumperstickers on my cars (the only one I ever had was for the ERA) but I applaud your collection and your willingness to put your ideology where your bumper can be crashed. I may have to remove the shy from your title.
I normally don’t like them either, but it’s just a 98 minivan, and it’s really my only way of flicking off people that bug me, since I don’t actually give anyone the finger. I really do only get positive comments about them – the ones who disagree just sadly shake their heads.
New heights in slackdom? I have complete confidence in you.
Thanks for your kind thoughts. Most pressing business for me today is a one-way 40 minute drive to our county DMV to renew my car registration, which takes all of about 5 minutes total.
Dopey, but it’s not possible for me to do it online. This requires something called a ‘credit card’.
Just popping in here from the cloudy middle coast to say hi to the morning crew. So consider yourselves greeted, Andi, CG, FM, SN, RF, Ask, and whoever I may have missed… Oh and I thought I saw Olivia in there too. Howdy Canada!
Looks like another long day here at work, with clouds moving in here to give us some rain today apparently. We’ll take it, since others have had more than their fair share lately. As long as the weekend is relatively dry, I’m a happy camper.
Anything exiciting on the weekend horizon for you folks?
After finishing that last report and presentation stuff, I feel like the zip has done been sucked out and tossed away. Hoping I can get a good recharge this weekend from some garden work, beer and rest. 🙂
Morning Andi!!!!! I love that the pond has it’s own Mary Sunshine each morning to greet us all!!!!
even in the virtual world, I’m no Mary Sunshine. Your greeter is an anal-retentive obsessive, causing her to get up every morning and do the coffee cart.
Good Morning, Refinish.
ROTFLMAO!!!!! Well, it is still nice to be greeted every morning.
Speaking of prostitution… allow me to pimp my diary.
Whether you care about sports or not, you should really read it through.
Steve Nash is a class act.
He’s one of the good guys.
Good morning all.
Good morning. I hope you are going to take it easy today.
I certainly am today. I really did overdo it yesterday and when my head kept hitting the keyboard last night, I decided my body was telling me something.
Oddly I’m still very tired today, but that should clear up soon.
How’s you morning so far?
but since it has warmed up, it was very nice to go to sleep to the sound of the rain in trees.
That’s one of my favorite things in the world. Unfortunately, I think last night was the last time I’ll be able to have my windows open until October. It’s supposed to be in the 90’s for the foreseeable future.
Morning SN. Windows down here have been closed for awhile. We haven’t even gotten to July/August yet.
I so full of anticipation, I’m almost giddy. 🙁
Maybe you should buy a summer home in upper Michigan. I loathe the summers down here too, almost as much as I did the winters in Cleveburg.
The only thing I could afford in MI is a cardboard box. Wait a minute. I do have a tent. I’m moving up in the world.
I can have a vacation home where ever I go. 🙂
That’s the best time for rain. I like the SF mentions of a world wide weather network. Only rain at night and just enough.
FM, how do you think your ONB is working?
If you give me an hour or two, I might figure this out. Sorry SN, don’t understand.
I guess I got it wrong. Occipital nerve block? Something like that?
No you got it right. I’m just really slow this morning. I haven’t really noticed any difference. I’m still getting the daily HA’s. Just have to wait and see about the migraines.
I told you I was slow today. I meant to add thanks for asking. 🙂
I had daily headaches for 25 years. With this antidepressant I will often go 3 or 4 days without one, which as you know, is like heaven.
Yes I know what you mean about going with out a ha for awhile.
I figure if I didn’t have my ha’s I wouldn’t have anything to complain about. I sure would miss all the hugs in the cafe when they’re over. 🙂
So you’re just making a play for sympathy hugs? I think you deserve one just for living in Alabama. 🙂
Ah but people love us here. I never watch it, but the American Idol winner last night. He lives about two hours from here. Hah. 🙂
Hah! I never watch it either, but that guy looks like Jay Leno on crack.
I was just kidding about AL. You said you missed my southern rants.
I knew you were kidding and I do miss yours and Tracy’s rants.
Heck I kid about down here all the time.
Sorry about the heat and humidity. I don’t like the few weeks we have of extremes here so I can imagine how yucky it is to have it around for months.
Yes, but the question is, do you have air conditioning?
A way of life down here.
originally and the house stays comfortable. The problem is that the humidity gets trapped in the woods and the house also stayed really damp. We had really bad problems with mold (to the point of leather shoes rotting) and finally gave in and put in air conditioning.

I get surly and bitchy in the heat. Usually around the middle of July. Hmmmm…
Good morning Andi, refi, Brownian, SN, and FM (and whoever else I might have missed)! Another gorgeous day here…
Has anybody seen ask around lately?
Morning CG. No I haven’t seen ask lately. I hope he hasn’t gotten to busy or something lately.
The morning has been ask-less lately.
How many days till the CabinBoys are out for the summer?
They have half-days June 12, 13, and 14, and then they’re done. I’m looking forward to the no homework, sleep till 7 or 8, hang by the pool in the afternoons lifestyle again…
Do you have a pool in your yard or are you talking about the community pool?
Community pool with slides…no work required on my part!
Smart. I never wanted the responsibility of a pool in my yard, but I thought it would be nice to have a friendly neighbor with one.
I have a friendly neighbor with a pool too, but don’t like to impose on him too often.
A true slackers dream. Home pool more work, community pools less work. The work/slack ratio definitely weighs in favor of slack. 🙂
Good morning, CG and everyone.

Hi ask. Just happy to see you and know you’re alright.
Well, I guess you know we’re thinking of you, then. I just hope things get sorted out sooner rather than later.
Best of luck on both issues, ask. 🙂
Sending good thoughts your way … {{{ask}}}
Good morning everyone.
Morning Olivia.
What do you guys think of this draft LTE regarding our state’s science scores:
I love it…is it in response to something like this article?
Yes, it’s the North Carolina perspective.
I like it but you’d better put on your flame retardant personality once it’s published.
I absolutely love being an instigator down here. My favorite thing is to watch the occupants of the car behind me reading my bumper stickers at a red light. They usually read with their lips moving – an indication of their intelligence perhaps.
Well we do have a lot of different vowels down here. 🙂
What bumper stickers do you have?
Who would Jesus bomb?
We’re creating enemies faster than we can kill them.
Well behaved women rarely make history.
W – still an idiot. (looks just like the big W still the president.
And a red, white and blue ribbon that says: Just pretend it’s all okay.
How many sticker do you have?
I guess 5?
When I read what you had, I thought, no wonder they’re moving their lips. All that on one sticker. 🙂
I don’t like bumperstickers on my cars (the only one I ever had was for the ERA) but I applaud your collection and your willingness to put your ideology where your bumper can be crashed. I may have to remove the shy from your title.

Oh, I forgot the one guy who yelled “I love Jesus, so fuck you!”
We should put that on a t-shirt. Knowing how conservatives fail to grasp irony, we could make a fortune selling them.
Hi Indy. How’s the day going? I also agree.
I’m sore, tired, and trying to ignore it, how ’bout yourself, Family Man?
Those t-shirts would sell like beer & cigarettes to disaffected middle class teens, too. Hey Second Nature, I think we found you a retirement plan.
I’m having a fun filled slackadasical day. I love making up words.
Don’t you ignore the sore and tired to much.
Hmm — put a little martial music behind that & we’d have a new national anthem.
Morning WW.
Morning, FM! Hope you see a nice, slackerly day today.
There’s not too much that’s going to get me out of this chair or off the bed today. I expect to hit new heights in slackdom. 🙂
Hope your day goes well today.
New heights in slackdom? I have complete confidence in you.

LOL WW. Not at your plight, but at the situation. Well I guess that is your plight. What I was laughing at is I’m in the same boat. Drives and CCs.
Just as well to do without ’em, I think — the credit cards, that is. The business is just a matter of legal usery.
Pretty soon now, more & more of us will discover life without easy credit, as I have, due to an inability to support their fees.
Ah well, I’m on the road. I mean, I’m on the way out — I do not post while driving.
See you soon!
Did I say (& misspell) usury?
I meant robbery. Thievery. Plunder. The bleeding of the less fortunate ’til they squeak.
See y’all later!
I think it’s great SN.
Great letter, SN. Perfect.
‘Course, the question remains as to if our nation’s ‘leaders’ actually believe this, or if it’s just regurgitated red meat for the yahoos.
Then again, it’s not these ‘leaders’ who are running things, is it.

What’s on your agenda today, slackeroo?
I’m in permanent slack mode today. I have to regain my inner slackdom.
