Congrats to Andi on her vote counting for something this year!

It’s a fun feeling. I could get to like it — here’s hoping that I don’t have to wait another 36 years for it to happen again.

Hi Andi and CG.  I got very little sleep last night and I’ve got to get ready to fly to Phoenix, but this is a happy tired I feel.

        Congrats in Indiana indeed.

Hope you have a good trip. I don’t know if you saw my suggestion for a neat thing to do so I’ll just repeat it.

The Desert Botanical Garden is wonderful.

I did see it.  Plus Manee kindly sent me some suggestions.  I’m excited to go.

Good morning!  I think there are going to be a lot of sleep-deprived people out there today.

Are you flying to Phoenix today?  Have a safe trip.

As it happened, I don’t have to work until about 1 pm today, and I’m really glad.
I hope you have a slow day at work today.

Its great, isn’t it? I left at noon, went home and went to bed for the rest of the afternoon. I feel very drained and wrung out like an old dishrag. At my precinct, the unofficial turnout count was 84%.

(sorry, I fell back to sleep after posting earlier)

        I’m so excited!  And tired.

Things look good for you.  I hope you do it!!

I’m not very optimistic here.  There are supposedly about 7,000 provisional ballots to be fought over.  But McCain leads by almost 6,000.  It’s possible, but not very probable.

          • Second Nature
Second Nature on November 5, 2008 at 1:13 pm

I’m assuming we’re waiting for military/overseas ballots here and I think the margin is around 11K.  It sure feels good to break off a little piece of the South.

            maryb2004 on November 5, 2008 at 1:14 pm

If NC turns blue it will certainly help you with the smugness factor in the face of all your red neighbors. 🙂

My county went blue by about 15%….it’s the rest of the damn state that made it close.  🙂

And I always sort of enjoy the odd man out role….

I’d guessed that was the lake. I have this really cool eye-in-the-sky at work. A person can almost read license plates with it. I’m sure those fascist bastards are watching me on it too.

AndiF on November 6, 2008 at 5:08 am

Maybe you should get a web site so we can all watch people coming and going. Since the leaf-lookers will be over soon, we could all use something to help us get over missing the traffic. 😉

          • AndiF
AndiF on November 6, 2008 at 6:07 am

The plan is to confuse people and have them think ID is Idaho instead of IndianaDem. 😉

          • Family Man
Family Man on November 6, 2008 at 6:13 am

So if we’re trying to confuse them, and they don’t know if it’s Idaho or Indiana, I guess we’re trying to send them to the middle which would be Nebraska.  I wonder if the Nebraska Tourist Board would hire us. 🙂

BTW what the heck is in Nebraska?

Didn’t Bruce Springsteen have an album called Nebraska?

That’s what we should do!  Instead of six degrees of Kevin Bacon, it should be six degrees of Nebraska.  I bet that wouldn’t be so easy. 🙂

We seem to have strayed several hundred miles from ID’s legs — wonder why?

I’m going to go get ready to stray into the woods.

            See ya later.

          • Family Man
Family Man on November 6, 2008 at 6:58 am

Not much today.  I was awake all night, so today I’ll try and see how many naps I can take.  Plus the rels are leaving Sunday, so between naps, I’ll be counting the minutes. 🙂

Have you got a hard day at work today?

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on November 6, 2008 at 7:23 am

I’m writing slides about hyperparthyroidism, so the hardest thing is probably going to be figuring out some nice diagrams to use for them.

And the water-conditioning equipment is due to be serviced this morning…hopefully, that will straighten out our fun new water pressure problem.

Sounds like you have a full day ahead of you.  I seem to remember what those days were like. 🙂

It’s a little chilly down here today, but by this afternoon it will be  back up to around high 70’s.  I’m still waiting on rain though.

I do have a full day…the check valve on the well pump is bad ($300), and they’re not sure if I need a whole new pump ($1200 instead of $300) or not.   Plus, the neutralizer tank needs flushing, and should really just be replaced ($750) sometime in the next few months.

            Argh.

Family Man on November 6, 2008 at 10:12 am

From the sounds of it, you should have just never gotten out of bed this morning. 🙁

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on November 6, 2008 at 10:49 am

Actually, the problem appears limited to the check valve, and I can just plan ahead for replacing the tank (the well pump apparently looks pretty good even though it’s 17 years old and they usually only last 8-10).

Whew.  I was not ready for that big of an expense this month.

            Very cool, Tampopo!

Quirky projects, especially when a community gets involved, are delightful. I once saw an exhibit of dinosaur-like creatures painted in bright primary colors that were made from car parts. Considering all the raw materials available in your neck of the woods, maybe all that’s needed is a Johnny Appleseed planting ideas.

Read some research about the value of napping – thought of you immediately. Another example of science confirming what those at the cutting edge already know. 🙂

Can’t remember when or where I read about it, but the photo made it unforgettable. That it was built by a family that got beyond the “We could…” or “Wouldn’t it be something if…” stage really impressed me.
