My daughter told me this morning that her history teacher asked the class yesterday about how many of them had parents who were Republicans and how many had parents who were Democrats. She said that she was the only white kid who raised her hand that she had a parent that was a Democrat. It bummed me out, but it really is all about my state of mind isn’t it. It is about how I apply that to myself that leads me to feeling depressed or content and full of the hope that leads to a well lived life.
huge racial divide thing and if I say something about it the people around me say, “Well, this is Alabama.” Like that clears it all up or something. Then you go on Fort Rucker and have to deal with people in uniform who are literally out of their minds. I haven’t been very nice lately. Of course being mean when I feel like meanness is warranted wasn’t ever an area I lacked in, but I have told a few people lately that they are flat out nuts because they are and I see no need to beat around the damn bush here. People in uniform always boast a lot about not beating around the Bush so just let me join ya’ll! I remind them about who the military serves, the oath they took, and I remind them that less than two weeks ago the people spoke and that was the people’s voice you fryheads! There have always been some wackjobs out there who become soldiers, police officers, code enforcement but Bush and his crew have given people who are complete wacko all sorts of validation to be walking talking acting out wackos. If I ever wanted to know who the full out wackos around me in uniform were all I needed was an election to take place like the one that did on November 7. You should hear the wackjobs talk (and don’t get me wrong everybody because everyone in uniform isn’t a wackjob, it’s just that the wackjobs are really standing out right now) about what needs to be done about what “happened”, it’s like they think America is a banana republic or something…..they speak violently and wish actions of violence on the “liberals”. I’m not sure how or when sanity is going to settle upon them, I only know that it will. People are synergistic with each other. They have fucking soaked in Bush insanity and operated under Bush denial for too long, it’s probably going to look like an exorcism the day that the lot of them are going to have to wake up again – sometime around January. Boy is that ever going to be bloody hell, and if we impeach their God……holy shit, they’re going to drop down and have a seizure while the evil is expelled from their bodies. I wonder if it will look like that patient that Olivia had to take care of one time, every orifice purging evil. I hope nobody starts going postal.
His biblical comments and references to God are something I wish politicians would leave alone. I give him some slack, however, because of the occasion at which he was speaking. Dr. Martin Luther King was a Christian minister and used such language to inspire people to work for civil rights. But, as Barak pointed out, Dr. King was not an elected official.
The problem with claiming to be doing God’s will, is that anybody claim that, and even believe it. I have great respect for Dr. King and believe he was a force for good. However, there are people who are less good who claim to be doing the will of the Divine; W and Osama come to mind.
