I had a dream this morning that my company got another horrendous account with a totally dysfunctional client, and I got stuck with them. Oy.
I was hoping Finny would sleep in a little this morning, but he’s already waking up. Guess he’s recovering from the baseball yesterday. Must be all the vitamin D we got while ducking the baseballs coming up from the field.
My week is looking like it will be a nightmare, I’m hoping that by knuckling under and getting stuff done I can bring the nightmare to an end – before it’s the end of me. 🙂
Mine do that too. Dumbledore always tried to figure out how to eat from 2 bowls at the same time…it was funny to see him try to hover over both bowls and have to decide on only one of them.
dinner time for the dogs has become a much calmer event with his passing.
All of dogs have been very good about not trying to get food from the other dogs’ bowls until they’re clearly done (look but don’t touch seems to be the motto).
What I never get is how they each have to “clean-up” after the other, even though both of them lick their bowls spotlessly clean in the first instance.
Harold (the rooster) was certainly counting his. He kept scratching at the dirt and jumping up in the air a few inches every 10 seconds or so – apparently this is sexy to girl chickens.
He is. Unfortunately the new chicken is very frightened by her new circumstances, and runs off whenever the other birds get too close. I’m not sure she’s ever been free-ranged before and I suspect that all of our open space is a bit overwhelming. She keeps hanging out in the back of the shed.
I suspect she’ll settle in soon – after all, they’re not the most complex creatures I’ve ever had. I’ve been hanging out and keeping the other birds in line, so maybe she’ll start to understand that at least I’m not any danger to her. I’ve also set her up her own feed and water spot.
This is a glamour shot — you wouldn’t want to see the woods too close up right now since the drought and the extremely hot summer have beat the trees up worse than I’ve ever seen.
Some trees have already dropped all their leaves (about 6 weeks early) and most of the maples are turning (about 3-4 weeks early).
I just checked the forecast for Philly and it’s got some hotter but not as hot (it was 96 in Indy yesterday) temps starting today but it’s going to cool down for the weekend.
Thanks Jim. Yesterday was very Spring-like, so of course today is starting with overcast and drizzle. At least we’re lighting the heater less often as the overall temperatures are rising.
The birdies are definitely getting Spring fever. A pair of swans living near the Bridgewater bridge already have four young fluffy cygnets.
Fall is in the air this morning, currently 51F with high of 74F predicted. We made the first trip to our favorite orchard last night to haul back a load of cider for the fire dept. fish fry that begins today.
I’m not going anywhere near town or Bloomington on the weekends until the leaves or gone — or at least until they open both lanes at the bridge being repaired on 46. You cannot believe how the traffic backs up at that on weekends.
I heard horror stories from friends about the bridge wait time, and I saw Friday night that my favorite photogenic route to the orchard through Morgan-Monroe Forest is going to close for repairs Oct. 4 and the alternate is always much more congested:(
Going to Columbus is actually much worse (on weekends) but I can take back roads to get around that. There’s no way around it coming back from town or Bloomington when it’s backed up for several miles. Normal fall weekend traffic is enough to make me avoid that drive but now I’m positively inspired to stay away.
Well I’m angry because we never got all those personal helicopters futurists said in the 50s we would all have by now! Then we wouldn’t need no stinkin’ roads. WTF happened to all that stuff we used to see on The Jetsons anyway?
Looking back on it, I’m glad I had my experience of Indiana traffic jam this summer so I can envision the situations you describe. My recollection includes some very nice ppl (no one could figure out what the delay was and how much of the h/way was involved) and one wise alec who when I asked something about where the highway went (meaning, what does it go through that is causing the delay and can I get off somewhere) replied disdainfully “it goes to St. Louis”.
Fall is coming quickly here as well. Our car that sits under a tree has been collecting more and more leaves recently. There is always a pile at the base of the windshield.
I’m sorry about the drought, but its a pretty picture.
I just realized I missed posting this morning because Finn was up at 5:45….the shorter days (and increasing mobility) are making him go to bed earlier, and get up earlier too. Where will I find my blogging time if this continues?
Got home Sunday to find the “black screen of doom” when we tried to start the computer again. It had worked just fine in the morning. Finicky electronics.
Anyway, a new graphics card and a power supply later and we’re back in business. The power supply wasn’t strictly necessary, as it was still working fine, but my philosophy is that if you are going to do repairs replace things that might break sometime soon as well.
Waiting for the clouds to come over and drop snow.
I’ve got to get over feeling pissy every time someone gets some kind of precip. But hasn’t happened yet so I’m even pissed over your getting snow when it’s springtime.

That’s always been the upside to dread for me — it makes reality seem much better than it actually is just by comparison.
The dread is often worse than the reality…I hate it when I wake up constantly, worrying about the day ahead. :/

We had a thunderstorm but it only rained for about 30 minutes. I’m guessing you had some of the same. It barely wet the forest floor, though.

Me too (the pond illusion)! I imagined Andi buzzing around in an ultralight aircraft at dawn, snapping photos along the way:)
