Is anyone else bone-tired of arguing with liars and idiots, winning the argument, and not having anything to show for it?

Very nice. One of my all-time favorites.
I’ve been bone tired of that since shortly after I started debating Zionists about Israel’s history and the rights – not to mention the existence! – of Palestinians.
holy shit am I ever.
Tom Paine had a phrase for it: “mental lying”:
Paine’s talking about organized religion, but it applies to all sorts of foolishness.
Funny you should ask, I just posted on it (see battle fatigue under Texas Dutchie to your right)
I am BUT I’m going to refocus my energy. I suggest you do the same. Seriously, your writing energy could perhaps be channeled into something less tiring for you as well.

Well, I’m an Obama supporter, so I’m gonna say the answer’s “HELL, YEAH!”
The end is nigh though, I dare to hope.
I’m also talking about the damn war.
didn’t realize that. You must have bloggers fatigue. That said, I’ll recommend reading this book to you which will not only help you understand why you can talk till you’re blue in the face with a fat book of facts and not getting anywhere;
Propaganda, the formation of men’s attitudes by Jacques Ellul (French philosopher). If memory serves me correctly, it was written in the ’60s.
“It is the emergence of mass media which makes possible the use of propaganda techniques on a societal scale. The orchestration of press, radio and television to create a continuous, lasting and total environment renders the influence of propaganda virtually unnoticed precisely because it creates a constant environment. Mass media provides the essential link between the individual and the demands of the technological society.” Jacques Ellul

I wouldn’t dare. I’ve had moments of hope that it wouldn’t, but I’m more and more convinced that she’s going all the way to Denver. I’d hoped that some of the scumbags surrounding her — Rendell, Corzine, other supers — would try to force a Come-to-Jesus moment, but I don’t see it. She’s going to keep buying time, keep trying to strip Obama of his legitimacy, and generally keep up Plan 2012.
Yeah, but I’m hoping some of that’s the old “you’re in it to the end until the day you drop out” kinda thing. Then again, it is the Clintons, after all. But her superD backers surely have some party loyalty? She’s not gonna get what she wants out of MI and FL, no matter how many hell raisers she sends to the RBC thing. She’s not gonna get the superD’s she needs, either. Maybe Obama rolls out 30 or 40 endorsements (or more) by the middle of June and she melts like Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard Of Oz. But then I have to go back to: then again, it is the Clintons, after all…
AUUGGGHHHHH!
Transgendered dormitories? Oh. God. Nooo.
I think I first reached that point in first grade, and I’ve probably reached that point at least once a week ever since.
I’m officially a seesmic addict. Oh and I got a twitter account…I don’t do much with it, but my seesmic addiction is feeding my twitter so it looks like I’m a twitter freak too.
i’m addicted to twitter, too. If anyone cares to join the insanity, my screenname is Man_Eegee
I’m faboomama on twitter and seesmic.
The satisfaction of being right is its own reward – NOT.
What’s your goal in arguing with liars and idiots? Winning an argument? Or something else? There will always be more liars and idiots, an endless stream of them with endless lies and idiocy.
Most of the primary-related arguing seems pointless to me right now. Discussions/arguments that illuminate issues or spur people to educate themselves further in order to participate are energizing. But arguments that are basically specious nonsense made just to score points that don’t really have any broader significance are just soul sucking. And that’s about all that’s gone on this primary. I’m bored with it because it’s pointless – no one’s arguing in good faith any more in anything to do with the primary. It’s all just push-back and point-scoring. Pretty much no one’s going to switch candidates at this point because of something they read on a blog. If you’re a big enough blogger that you can push an idea into the broader media where it hasn’t been heard yet, or stop something that’s untrue and damaging, that’s worthwhile though.
Blogging is such an amazing thing – a way for anyone to publish and distribute their ideas freely without the gatekeepers that have always stood in the way. We can educate each other, reach out, lift each other up. Nothing profound, just each person’s truth. I’m seeing precious little of that in the old haunts. It’s more like drowning in a sea of idiocy and manufactured outrage.
Maybe it’s time to ask yourself what you’re expecting to have to show for it.
