Jim Pederson is running for U.S. Senate. Unfortunately 50 Arizona “Democrats” have already thrown their support behind the wingnut Jon Kyl. See my diary here for more info. Grrrrr.
Patty Murray (D) voted yes on Robert’s confirmation and Maria Cantwell(D) voted no. I guess that means the senators from Washington gave the vote a “Whatever”.
I’m reading your comment as quasi-critical. Since both of my state’s Senators are female Democrats, did you expect them to pass one of those “I like John – do you? yes or no” notes, like we did in grade school?
Recently I wrote a diary regarding 50 Democrats who are trying to sabotage Jim Pederson’s run for Senate against Jon Kyl. Surprise, Surprise; but Rep. Cheryl Chase whom I listed as a target for hate-mail has switched parties.
In the end, I didn’t leave Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me. It left me no room for debate/dissension on issues like national security, family values, rural development, forest health, water, education, health care, protection of the taxpayer and immigration.
EFAHP is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the wildlife habitat and natural resources of the East Fork Amazon Headwaters Forest.”
Please join us in the effort to stop the development that will destroy this beautiful and irreplaceable treasure. It is nearly 40 acres and one of the most pristine sites left in the Eugene Urban Growth Boundary, home to the Pileated Woodpecker, Red Legged Frog and many other woodland creatures. It hosts Grand Fir Stands, Oak, Maple, Madrone and Ash trees. Its diverse native vegetation consists of Wayside aster, Tall bugbane, Corn lily, Twin flower, California fescue, Candy flower and Cow parsnip, just to name a few. It is part of the Amazon Headwaters and has a large stream corridor with many seasonal creeks and wetlands that flow into the Amazon Creek.
Tuesday was a great day in California and made for a very cheerful Wednesday morning!! I didn’t work as hard as some folks, but harder than others in precinct walking and phone banking for both Alliance and No on Prop 73…and I’m so please our efforts to help inform people and get them to the polls helped make the difference!
The majority of the results from here and across the country give me great hope that there is light at the end of this very long, dark, and scary tunnel we’ve been in the last 5 years! Granted, this is just the beginning of those efforts, but what a kick off!
I am sooooo pleased that the people of my great state resoundly defeated this useless and wasteful flex of the Gropenator’s muscles in his attempted power grab and legislation by force…maybe the steriods are starting to wear off! 😉
a little bit, and get ready to carry the momentum forward. Thank you and everyone who was able to help bring about a very productive election Tuesday that bodes well for the future.
Always the optimist, I am beginning to give Bush credit for one thing — he and the other Republicans have screwed up and overreached so badly that they will finally shine truth on the whole myth of Reagan’s legacy as being the end-all and be-all of American ideals. From Norquist to DeLay to the attempted hijacking by the American Taliban to the complicity of the RWCM, I am hopeful that we finally can have the debate and intellectual discussions so lacking for the last 30 years. Finally, progressive ideas are shown to be what the majority of Americans believe in and what has made us what we are today (warts and all — we are still a work in progress). I think that Americans realize that tax cuts have consequences, both in the short term and the long term, and protecting our environment and regulating fair markets allows for true democracy and freedoms to thrive.
Holy Crap! This is huge news! We are almost guaranteed a pickup:
Rep. Jim Kolbe, a leading proponent of free trade and the only openly gay Republican in Congress, has decided not to seek a 12th term next year, associates said Wednesday.
GOP state Sen. Toni Hellon said the 63-year-old Arizona congressman told her of his intention to leave Congress and “do other things.” Another political associate, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Kolbe has not yet announced his decision, also said Kolbe had decided not to seek re-election.
Almost hidden in the rush of other news are the Pombo Provisions included in the Budget Reconciliation Act. (HR4241)We need to let our congressional representatives know that the latest Pombo Land Grab in Sections 6201-6207 must not be included in the final bill.
Neither Representative James Gibbons of Nevada, nor Richard Pombo of California should be appointed to the conference committee.
There’s still time for western progressives to let our voices be heard.

Any props that Arnie supports, I’m against. These will only support his career, Republican party, and BushCO.
Thanks for that. I was just looking at my absentee ballot.

CONGRATS! We all rejoice with you. Good work, and please keep stomping out the groper-vader’s steroidal delusions.
