What’s everyone up to this week?

Good morning CG!  It is beautiful here but rain later, and tomorrow.

CabinGirl on July 20, 2009 at 10:01 am

It’s nice here so far, but looking a bit more gray as the day goes on.  I think we must be getting rain later too.  As long as it clears off by tomorrow morning, I’m fine with it.

Raining here today.  And it will do so on and off for the next 10 days or so.  🙁

Grumpier than usual?  Is it because you had such a wonderful weekend?

      • Brendan Skwire
Brendan Skwire on July 20, 2009 at 11:08 am

i actually had a pretty decent weekend, minus sending my son home to montreal. picked until late on friday night, picked in delaware for pay saturday day, then went tubing on the delaware yesterday.

but still grouchy. I hate working.

Hot and cold running fever/chills for the last two day, which, thankfully, seem to have broken this morning.

I’m off to the dr. shortly to get a refill on my asthma medication, which I’ve been tearing through the last few days.

At least I don’t need to leave the house for work until Friday.  Although I need to start formating a newsletter for one of the Greens politicians by tomorrow at the latest.  No rest for the snotty/hacky.

    • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on July 20, 2009 at 10:38 pm

Yuck!  Getting sick always wreaks havoc on my asthma, I hope yours doesn’t do that too.

Make sure you get plenty of rest.

      • keres
keres on July 20, 2009 at 11:00 pm

I don’t have much choice about the “rest” bit. I’ve been too achy and shaky to cover more than short distances.

My asthma is usually caused by something else, like allergies or illness, so I’m very short chested at the moment.

Thanks for that.  I seem to be recovering fairly well.  What I really hate about the flu is how it usually takes weeks to get back to your normal self.

At least I have the dogs (sprawled asleep on the floor) to keep me company.

Hope you feel better.  Is it Swine Flu or just regular horrible old flu?

          • keres
keres on July 21, 2009 at 12:20 am

They’ve stopped testing here, after finding out 99% of all the flu cases in Australia are H1N1 (swine flu).  According to my doctor, swine flu is actually milder than regular flu, so here’s hoping it’s the former.

I’ve still got a mild temperature, but overall I’m feeling better – as long as I stay sitting.  I figure I’ll be up and about by the day after tomorrow.

AndiF on July 21, 2009 at 5:43 am

Glad you’re getting better. I’m guessing that staying sitting is one of the harder things for you to do, sick or not.

According to today’s edition of our local newspaper a “Swine flu explosion” is about to hit Tasmania.  Apparently, just like when I started wearing board shorts and tracksuit pants as daily apparel, once again I’m a trend setter.

and also to any newbies who haven’t heard of me. LOL

I am getting so excited as things get crazier as I get ready to move on the 27th.  It is so nice to be on the blessing side of the Chinese Blessing/Curse “May You Live in Interesting Times.”  I went to see a play last Sunday night.  It was Del Shores’ one man show about his writing and inspiration.  It was fabulous and I had my picture taken with Del and Jason Dottley.  You can see the picture on my face book page.   You can search for me using my email address which is my screen name at gmail.com.

I hope everyone is doing great!!!!!!!!!  I miss you all and luv ya lots!!!!!!!!

Why-oh-why does the plumber, who I’m helping with the installation of our solar hot water heater, want to start work today?

It comes and goes.  Mostly it comes when I move or lie flat.  It goes when I stay quiet and take lots of meds.  I was feeling well enough this morning that I thought I could actually get some physical work done – which usually turns out to be a dangerous assumption.

I’ve got an assessment tomorrow and plan to take large quantities of cough suppressant to keep from scaring the clients.

At least I’ll have 240ltrs of hot water to soak with in the morning (as opposed to the 80ltrs we had before).  The plumber swapped out the tanks today (I provided minimal help).  He’ll be back on Saturday to mount the solar collectors and he should have it plumbed together by mid-week.  He’s a local semi-retired guy. He’s slow but he’s doing a very nice job.  Woo hoo.

          • AndiF
AndiF on July 23, 2009 at 6:54 am

Ooh, your new solar water tank so way cool. We’ll need pictures once it’s done.

Drinking lots of water and using Nyquil usually works for me to break things up — but I guess if you don’t want to cough around your clients, breaking things up might not be the best thing.

Oh yuck, sorry you’re having such a hard time, keres.  I have asthma too and every time I get a cold or flu the same things happens with the chest congestion and difficulty breathing.  Any little movement starts a coughing gagging wheezing fit.

It’s about the only time I enjoy a few minutes in a sauna.  It seems to help break things up.

This week’s theme is  Disrepair. Dilapidation, decrepitude, shabbiness, collapse, ruin; abandonment, neglect, disuse.

So keep the FFF in good repair and come share your photos and enjoy everybody else’s.
