There’s still no deal and no clarity on what is holding up a deal. The idiots will meet again at 7pm to talk more foolishness, but I can’t see how Boehner backs down now that he’s said that there is no daylight between him and the teabaggers. I don’t really care anymore. I’d rather have the government shut down than give another inch to these bastards and they feel the same way. Pass the popcorn.

The issue, unfortunately, isn’t whether you, or I, are willing to give another inch. It’s whether the Democrats are. And the track record on that isn’t encouraging.
I have (had?) an appointment next Tuesday to file for my Old Age Benefits after working my ass off for fifty years. Somehow, I just knew that the Republicans would f**k me out of my Social Security. Nevertheless, I will be even angrier if Obama and Reid save my SS by throwing the even less fortunate over the side! I want the benefits I earned, not blood money taken from LIHEAP, Pell Grants, and Medicaid. And as for those abortion restrictions, NEVER NEVER NEVER.
John Boehner is still trying to put that “Democrats are responsible for the Shutdown” sticker on Obama and Reid. But they won’t turn their backs on him.
At 11:49 PM tomorrow night, the President will announce the grand compromise. Complete funding of the military budget and complete cutting of the non-military budget, except for legislative and appointed official salaries and benefits. And Boehner will say, “We don’t have agreement; you forgot eliminating taxes on people making over $500,000 a year. It’s the President’s fault that the government is shutting down. We bargained in good faith, but apparently he didn’t.” And the corporate media will dutifully report on how Obama Shuts Down Government.
It will be the fault of the democrats. No matter what happens.
Shutdown = dems
Stay in business = dems forced repubs to tear country apart.
We live in a different world than normal news consumers. They will take away the message that Boehner cried, Obama lied.

otoh, there’s plenty of clarity as to why: the tea baggers are insane, the GOP can’t afford to tell them to fuck off, and their demands are way to far for even the assholes who pass for democrats.

While all of you fret over this Kabuki, I’m going shopping. If you believe that Obama will do the right thing (for “The People”), you are blind and will never see the truth staring you in the face. That man is a politician’s politician. He will do the right thing for himself at any cost, and then bray about how we “meddling kids” got in the way. May the circle be unbroken. This is what you all voted for!
Meanwhile, my conscience is clear and I get great sleep at night.
