Patrón Reposado is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of six months. Patrón Reposado is aged and blended to incorporate the fresh clean taste of Patrón Silver with a hint of the oak flavor found in Patrón Anejo. Reposado style tequila has been popular in Mexico for many years and is experiencing an excellent reception by most tequila connoisseurs world wide. Patrón Reposado may be enjoyed as a sipping tequila or mixed with high quality mixers. It makes an excellent “ultra premium” margarita. – linkage
Do you remember toddies before Nyquil became a staple? Nyquil came along and people thought it was a wonder drug or something. Before that though my mom mashed up aspirin and mixed it with a little bit of sugar and water. Once I got that down then some man of the family created this “toddy” and they acted like it was some big secret recipe but I detected the truth, non of them had a special recipe – they were all full of shit! It was some vile hard liquor with various things thrown in around lemon and honey. Between the aspirin and being smashed I made it through my childhood bouts of creeping crud and was able to ingest chicken soup later.
I guess we were lucky growing up. The Hot toddies were made with hot tea with honey and lemon and a shot of brandy. LOL I actually like to mix spiced rum into chai tea once in a while for a nice warm drink now. LOL
I’m painfully aware…
A few years ago, I used to spend some time at a bar (heh, curly and I took CG and Booman there when they came to NY some weeks ago), where the barmaid had a specialty; tequila + some drops of Tabasco, shaken over ice – voila, a great shot.
Less known, probably, is this elixir from my neighborhood – Linie Aquavit:
Aquavit (pronounced “AH-keh-veet” and sometimes spelled “akvavit”) is a potato-based liquor, flavored with caraway. Other herbs, such as dill and cumin, are sometimes added. Some varieties also contain subtle hints of fruit. The drink takes its name from the Latin “aqua vitae,” meaning “water of life.” It’s a potent drink with an alcohol content around 40 percent.
You’ll find aquavit throughout Scandinavia, but the Norwegians make a special kind they call “linie aquavit.” Linie (pronounced “LINN-yuh”) is the Norwegian word for “line,” referring, in this case, to the equator. Linie aquavit is shipped from Norway, across the equator, down to Australia, and back again in oak sherry casks. Afficionados say the liquor gains a richer flavor as it sloshes around in the barrels for several weeks.
I’ve got a bottle of Lysholm Linie right here. It was on the M/S Tampere, crossing the line on 12/16/95 and 04/26/96 for the return.
LOL!
Actually, I don’t drink much hard liquor. The bottle has been in the freezer (unopened) since ’97, or so (but I’ve had a couple of others during those years).
But I just opened it – smelled the aroma for a while (brought back memories of Christmas seasons long gone) – and had two small shots. Great warmth in my belly right now.
Thanks — In the last cafe ww and I were lamenting on our respective weather situations, so ww sent out a request to FM to help us out and a few minutes later I had this break in the clouds … π
My evening was decent. Chatted with Booman and some other folks at DL. Some candidate or another was there campaigning for something. My meeting went decently as well.
Aside from that, I’m taking a break until 10 PM, and then it’s time to start working on practice exams for my last final (Accounting).
Pretty good.. just tired for some reason and not in the mood to do anything I should be doing. LOL I hope your holiday break is going well and that all the exams went well also!!!
When counting my Lincolntons though I must resort to a bit of 1800.
it sounds like it would go very well with chicken soup. π
Sorry I missed your bout with the creeping crud — you need to whine more in the future so I’ll be sure to notice.

Un tequila rapido, por favor!
There is no un tequila. There is only mas tequila.
ROTFLMAO!!! That might be why I don’t drink it much any more because in my youth I had way too much of it. LOL

and you still have it? You don’t drink much do you? LOL Actually, I still have the same bottle of absolute I bought 6 years ago.
LOL!

Glad you enjoyed it. LOL I am not a big drinker either and haven’t been in years. I prefer to sip or just drink really good coffee. LOL
Got a hogshead of that?
Is it happy hour yet? I’m ready to be happy./
Howdy Omir!!!!
Hi Refinish, what’s new?
Nothing Much. Just plugging away at the designs and will be doing a podcast later tonight or in the am. How about with you?
Hey, Omir!
Sure feels like Happy Hour (see comment above). Come join in!
Sounds like if you drink enough of that akvavit you’ll be happy, all right. π
The brief sun interlude from this afternoon …
What a beautiful photo!!!!! Hi Miss Olivia!!!!
Thanks — In the last cafe ww and I were lamenting on our respective weather situations, so ww sent out a request to FM to help us out and a few minutes later I had this break in the clouds … π
How are you fairing these days?
Well, We are back in the 70’s here. LOL
I’ve been looking forward to this. Beautiful shot, Miss O! It seems quite pretty there.
I’m guessing the sun’s appearance was brief, though. FM must’ve gone back to sleep.
π
The question is, did he see his shadow? I’ve had enough of winter already and I don’t want six more weeks of it.
If it’s any consolation, Omir, we’re only 9 days from Solstice, to the hour.
At least it always helped me.
π
No need to ‘guess’ on my part, after all.
It’s the heat, I swear.
It was so brief it could use two the briefs to describe it … π
It lasted about 10 mins.
Let’s hope it’s a little taste of brighter days to come — for both of us!
but where are the inner bits?
I’m sure there are some IBs in that picture, just can’t seem ’em.
Evening folks. Back from Drinking Liberally and a bank meeting…how is everyone doing?
I’d say today’s been a rather magical day here at the pond. How did you like your evening, Psi?
Magical…why? π

Hey! How’s it going?
Pretty good.. just tired for some reason and not in the mood to do anything I should be doing. LOL I hope your holiday break is going well and that all the exams went well also!!!
Esperanza (Hopeful, Jr) has been waiting patiently by the computer all evening.
In my house that looks means either
It could be number two, but most likely it means “whaddya mean I’m getting too big to sit on your lap?”
Bette always wants to climb in my lap but then she will not sit still so I will not let her. LOL
Oh according to Sniff, it could also be — I think it’s time for both of us to go to bed.
Which is what we’re going to do in a few minutes.
I think me and the Diva Dogs will be doing the same shortly. LOL
Such a cute baby!!!!
I think it may be love at first sight! π
Aww! He just keeps getting more handsome.
