[promoted to the front page. And a big welcome to Jerome a Paris]
As many of you have probably seen, we have started some discussions on whether to have a European Kossacks convention, and whether to create a Euroopean Kos website.
My questions to you guys:
- it looks like this site could a model of sorts for the site. Could anyone explain to me what it requires to be built (in terms of competences, effort, time, manpower, etc…) and what kind of modularity it has if we want a European site with various flavors yet to be discussed?
- maybe this could be a place to conduct some slightly more discreet conversations on the topic without boring dKossacks with all the details – nor being swamped by the diary flow. Would you mind?
Feedback and input welcome!
I recommend myself and jump into the Recommended World Diaries. There is a super-secret-get-into-the-recommend-list-button after all!!
Enjoy it while it lasts.
I haven’t decided whether to continue to allow self-recommendations yet. Does it make a difference?
Is it bad form to recommend yourself, or an indication of stupidity if you don’t?
I would like this site to become a place for left-leaning people from all over the world to use as a resource.
We will be probably remain an American dominated site, and since I’m American, that is fine by me. We need to take care of our house first.
But I hope that you and other people from abroad and Canada, wherever, will find a fun and useful resource in the RWD’s.
In all fairness, you should only get recommends from others.
I’m abusing it this time because I would actually like some feedback on the questions I aksed. As this is your site, some of the questions are particularly directed at you!
If you click on the spellchecker, you can never “post”. It will post only after you have unclicked the spell check box.
Also, when you have posted a comment, it appears as “new” in the counts in the diary list on the right.
so thats what happened to my very first post last night…thanks for letting me know what happened.
how to create a site such as this as well. I’m looking at making one for my relatively small town in SW Ohio. There is a desperate need for conversation around here.
‘andyschm’ is my programmer. And he is very good, responsive, fun to work with.
But you’ll need quite a bit of money to get a site up to this level. Lots of hours of work. It might be a little ambitious for a small local issues blog.
However the basic SCOOP is shareware and it is pretty powerful right out of the box…so to speak.
Take a look at their website. There’s a link at the bottom of the page.
I’ve looked at it briefly. I sure know about the time it takes to come up with something like this. I’m a programmer. I just like how the response is attached to the appropriate comment. I may not be able to get a blog to this level for quite a while, though.
Really nice site, Booman.
