Nice..shall we fill in his more recent crimes against humanity on the empty lines?
On another note, can someone tell me how to make a pretty colored box in a diary, rather than the usual gray? Light yellow or pale green would be cool, if possible.
<div style="width: 400px; overflow: none; border: 1px solid #aaa;background-color: #ffddaa; padding: 8px;">Pretty box</div>
You can change the width, but 400 is definitely the max.
The part that says #aaa can be changed to change the color. Here’s a link to a color palette:
http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/
sorry, change this #ffddaa not the #aaa.
And you can play with the color, by changing around letters and numbers, from 0 to 9, and from a to f. It used to be that you had to use five characters, but three will do nowadays. I’m used to the old-fashioned way.
Start with the basic colors:
black = #00000
white = #ffffff
Any combo of straight-across numbers of letters gives you a shade of gray: #ccccc or #eeeee or #77777 — and you’ll see that the higher letters give you a LIGHTER shade of gray, while the lower numbers get you closer to black.
Now you can play with different combos:
#00FF00 gives you a true green
#FF0000 gives you a true red
#0000FF gives you a true blue
#ffcccc gives you a very light yellow
#ffddaa is the box color I’ve been using a lot — a light orange
— keep the backgrounds light for maximum contrast with text
…
The letters aren’t case-sensitive.
Heh:
Computer folks are worse than lawyers and doctors with their jargon. Why say “#00FF00”, when you could have just said “green”, or “#fffff”, when “white” would do perfectly well? 😉
There’s a very good reason not to use the word for a color. You often get the wrong shade of the color. It’d be particularly bad for a background color since the “red” and “green” colors will be too dark. So it’s important to learn how to manipulate the letters/ numbers to get a lighter shade.
I’m fine with using background colors and boxes sparingly (see Sunday Griot for my use of a background color) but you want to make sure the background isn’t too dark to make the text legible.
Besides, there are two other reasons for specifying the “#xxxxxx” code instead of a named color:
you were at the dentist or something today.
Instead you were stealing from the Easter bunny.

Officer Bridges of Kennebunkport, Maine — is that truly the birthdate he jotted down, coming from a drunk, eh someone under influence? Is it normal to use a PO Box as address for arrest record and no specification where offense was recorded? I am glad there was no difficulty with typewriter and font of 111th. [FIS ANG in Texas]

Hello fellow BooTribbers,
As some of you may have noticed from previous posts, I have just started working at the UFCW on the new “Wake-Up Wal-Mart Campaign.” We have a blog on our new site, and so far, 80% of the commenters have been pro-Wal-Mart and while I appreciate dialogue, there are two big issues. The first is that among these comments, there are usually things that are completely factually incorrect. The second is that dialogue between myself and these people is not really dialogue, and I am often limited in my ability to respond.
So what I am asking is that anyone who has the time and desire to add in their two cents about Wal-Mart do so over at the Wake-Up blog.
Thank you all very much
Brendan
Cool. And I just sent your note + the URL to several friends who are fiercely anti-Wal-Mart. Hope it helps.
Thanks Susan!

And if that’s 09/06/76, then he was drunk and under the influence of his mother, since the citation is for two days before his birth.
Should we blame Babs?
Worse yet! He’s been lying about his age! Pretending he’s OLDER! Impeach him, I say!
OMG. This makes Laura guilty of statutory rape.
Just trying to track you down to find out if you’ve heard any updates from the friend of the Halliburton employee. Thanks!
As a bicentennial baby myself, I can assure that I’m not old enough to be President yet. Neither’s he. You guys!! We’re saved!
