There is indeed a Santa Claus (if you are a loyal member of BushCO):
A former White House official and one-time oil industry lobbyist whose editing of government reports on climate change prompted criticism from environmentalists will join Exxon Mobil Corp., the oil company said Tuesday.
That would be one Mr. Philip Cooney
Now, Mr. Cooney has been a bad boy recently:
… Mr. Cooney is chief of staff for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, the office that helps devise and promote administration policies on environmental issues…
…In handwritten notes on drafts of several reports issued in 2002 and 2003, the official, Philip A. Cooney, removed or adjusted descriptions of climate research that government scientists and their supervisors, including some senior Bush administration officials, had already approved. In many cases, the changes appeared in the final reports.
The dozens of changes, while sometimes as subtle as the insertion of the phrase “significant and fundamental” before the word “uncertainties,” tend to produce an air of doubt about findings that most climate experts say are robust…
…A White House spokeswoman, Michele St. Martin, said… that Mr. Cooney would not be available to comment. “We don’t put Phil Cooney on the record,” Ms. St. Martin said. “He’s not a cleared spokesman.”
But apparently he must have made up with Santa. Probably by supporting mountaintop removal coal mining, Santa buys a lot of coal.)
This is how it works- special interests buy positions in the government and install their agents who assist in the pilliage of the Republic. When they get caught, they are forced out to pasture in high paying jobs and they are replaced with an yet another agent of the special interests.
Could the story be clearer? Probably not, yet once again it will be played out that:
- Mean liberals forced Cooney out of his job.
- Chimpy is an environmentalist because he pushed out Cooney.
Great one. Also check out PRWatch on this story.
Thanks Susan!
Maybe we should stop calling them BushCo and talking about Hallibuton, and just call them Exxon-Mobil.
We could even refer to the whole country as Exxon-Mobil.
As in: I live in Exxon-Mobil. Exxon-Mobil is at war with Iraqi insurgents.
I’m not voting for Frist, I never vote for Exxon-Mobil.
If Exxon-Mobil wins the next election, I’m moving to Guyana.
PRWatch: “…Rick S. Piltz, a former senior associate…
He was the whistleblower. Just sorta says it all.
These people are absolutely shameless. And really, they have no reason not to be. They operate in a crimnal fashion right out in the open, and all their supporters do is clap louder.
Someone really needs to fix this rabbit hole before we fall any farther down it.
This is the same White House office responsible for ‘editing’ the EPA reports about the air at Ground Zero.

So Cooney left? Isn’t Connaughton still there?
I think maybe it might not matter who stays or goes. It might be ‘policy’.
Connaughton. What an ass.
