Good Morning everyone, welcome to the Froggy Bottom Cafe. Come on in and make yourself comfortable, coffee and pastries are ready. |
After you have had some refreshments, perhaps you would like to go and visit my new Site Village Blue. It is only a few days old and it’s birth has been very hard on me,some things still to be done, things to work out, but it is up and running, please visit and register. There is a handy link back to booman right at the top left of the front page. |
So everyone, have a great day!!!
Hi and how are you all doing, coffee and papers right this way.
69 deg. here in socal at 7:30, looks to be another hot one here.
A pair of large schooners pass off downtown Port Townsend, cruising before the start of a classic boats race.
The weather is like this in Puget Sound for the coming days, hot, calm and Californiesque for us. We have a clear sky right now at 56F. It’ll hit the upper 70’s today and might reach the
several days this week.
Another day at work (oh….pootie pics isn’t work??) and we have no air conditioning this close to the Bay…aaargh….
So I’ll have some hot coffee now and be back about lunch time for some Iced Tea with Lemon!
Cat infinity before noon. I’m dizzy. I actually have an almost infinite number of cats (9)… seems infinite, anyway.
4 PM and 76F in Puget Sound. Gooserock digs out and dusts off a pair of shorts. The teatime thermo-sprint could run us up to 82F.
Time to hit “hi” on the window fan and move some evening beers off the porch into the fridge, before heading back to my craft shop for the theoretical last hour of the work day.
Good Morning! Diane, I checked out your site last night for only a few minutes before I registered, and then there was the access denied problem. I think it looks great! I will definitely check it out further some time today, and hope to be a regular. π
It’s back to very hot and sticky here, I’ve changed 3 times already today, and it’s barely 11am. This summer is like the summers I remember as a kid, and that’s OK.
Iced coffee for me, maybe with a nice big bowl of blueberries on the side for munching by the handful. mmmmmmmmmmm
Think I’ll pass on the coffee this morning and go for something soothing like chamomile tea. I awoke with anxiety without apparent cause, a slow, simmering variety that sometimes afflicts me. It can be a premonition that something bad is going to happen today or it can be simply my subconscious telling me the whole world is fucked and I better do something to insure my survival. Of course, no actions are currently available to me; I can’t go out and weed my vegetable garden, for instance.
We’ll have a new real estate agent as of Aug. 1st so hopefully, prayfully our house in GA will sell by September and release us from our frustration.
I read the interview with Martha Stewart in the August issue of Vanity Fair and even she is building a self-sufficient farm during her house arrest. Highly glamourous, of course, far above what we’ll be able to do when we get started. But, there she is saying she wants to grow her own veggies, have her own eggs, milk cows, sheep and cattle and she’s even got five plow horses in a stable I would not mind living in myself. When the rich and famous feel this need, the rest of us should take heed.
I really like the idea of being self sufficient. I wish we could afford an alternative energy system with both solar and wind, but alas, they are very expensive and out of reach. Some states have grants to homeowners to set up certain systems, but not Pa.
I’m not familiar with your situation, but it sounds like you have a reason for your anxiety. I HATE that feeling… you never know if it signals impending doom or constipation! π
Back from the back country and hoping for cooler temps and some much needed rain today and tomorrow. I must say getting completely away from civilization is incredibly refreshing…3 1/2 days of complete solitude, just me and the Bu Girl, saw not a soul from Wed pm thru Sun am…nice!
Here’s a mountain sunrise to start the day
Peace
Thank you for the sunrise, dada. Refreshment for the soul. Did you take that picture on your trip?
for a corn beef sandwich. I don’t know why? Strange and uncommon hankering.
What time does the lunch counter open?
I’ve found some Name Brand turkey cotto salami and turkey balogna that taste just like the real thing, for anyone who eats red meat but wants to avoid red meat or the other white meat or mad meat or whatever.
Since it’s already noon for many of the customers, and since I eat supper and lunch food in the morning myself (mmmm, breakfast anchovies!), I’ll set it out for you all to help yourselves.
thanks much. We need a deli slicer in this place. The pre-sliced stuff is not so good.
Diane101, I’ll head over to the Village a little later. I have to get some work done on my car in a few minutes.
Just to let you know and all the men here also that I have a catagory in forum topics for /cars and mechanics/ so maybe you can write up something, sometime.

Someone’s in the kitchen right now, whipping up that corn beef sandwich, I hope you like it, will you be having a beer with that.
Without Zander here for serving we are a little behind, but she will return on Wed., can you wait???
You know you can stop by the Village Blue Gazette and put any links to stories over here you want to…and also something about your cups and shirts for sale,.
Sorry to be so slow. . .still not quite up to my usual self, and no one can equal Zander at getting these things out. . .
Weekday routine still shot to hell in the Scribe household; spouse is still home, probably will be for a couple more weeks. π We really need to get stuff done today! This place is turning back into a disaster area, and I’m not a happy camper. I love the guy, but I want my normal life back! I may have to go out and play on my own one day this week, just for my own sanity.
At least this morning I finally worked on vacation reservations. We’ve got our tickets to see King Tut and our hotels for both LA and Anaheim (we futzed around and lost out on our first Anaheim choice, but found a great 2nd choice that turns out to be less $$$ ffor the stay).
Love your new site, Diane — I’ll stop by there later in the day or this evening (unless the spouse is using the computer — we need the 2nd computer soon!).
Have a great day, everyone… π
Hey Scribe… did you go for one of the package deals on the Tut tix? I’m wondering if that’s the way to buy them, or if I could find a better deal if I look for hotels separately.
Since we knew where we wanted to stay, we went the separate tickets route instead of package deal; there’s a Days Inn within spitting distance (as my best friend from high school Debby would say) from LA Union Station — we’re planning on train down and back and riding public transit; no rental cars in SoCal for this couple! π
We went for 2 adult tickets for the exhibit ($25, plus a $3.75 service charge each), 2 non-member audio tours ($6 — narrated by Omar Sharif!), and 1 catalogue ($49.50).
It’s going to be a fun trip…it’s been ages since we’ve been able to travel like this! π
Taking the train sounds perfect. Thanks for the tip on the Days Inn.
I saw King Tut back in the 70s in L.A. and loved the exhibit. It might sound silly but I swooned over a particular belt buckle. Yeah, let’s do the Tut strut!
Can’t stay long as I’m trying to make good on my determination to get rid of the piles of work on my desk, but want to check in and say that I’m glad you all are here, reminding me of the good and thoughtful people in this country. With all that’s going on in the world it feels so much like the other shoe is going to … drop any time now. Waiting.
Hey, it’s not going to be l00 here today!
I’m perking my 2nd pot of coffee of the morning. Just for me. What can I say, I live dangerously. But the truth is that I drink coffee like some people smoke cigarettes. . .only half way down.
Cheers to all. Coffee’s ready, Boo mug’s empty, and I’d better get back to work.
What can I say? I hit the tough stuff first and be feel friendly later. Really like your new site Diane. Joined immediately, many days that I need it……just need to flip from Booman to an alter universe where things make sense. Looking big time forward to gardening type things! New to the South and attempted to start some red poppies this spring and I think they died more than one death. I received a cute little mailing a few days back from a club called the National Home Gardening Club (I think the feisty 70 year old neighbor on the corner who acts like she’s 40 signed me up for it), it costs $12.00 a year and they sent me a packet of Red Poppy and Baby’s Breath with instructions to plant them at the end of Autumn here. Hello, that’s fricken winter almost……hello Tracy, that when these things grow and bloom down here! They send newsletters and have a seed exchange along with free seed mailings too. Got me thinking that a seed exchange at your new place could be cool too……I’ll send ya some of this if you’ll send me some of that, an envelope and a stamp! Trying to be still, there’s a humming bird at the feeder outside the window trying to prove that I’m human and dangerous.
Hi Tracy, good ideas for the gardening section of my site. Please do put your contributions there, yes we can expand on a lot of ideas.
“Lower, baby!”
I’m sure in some Rightwing’s eyes, this is a SIN! Which… makes it all the more blissful in my mind. π
Fours for all. Would that be called… “Four Play”???
Ha! We need to keep Bush away from our Pussies.
The only way any Bush is getting anywhere near my pussy is through reincarnation where Bush’s come back as something closer to human and I come back as something closer to vegetable or mineral!
ROFLOL
pussies (Frist, Delay, Ricky)…..as I get a visual of my Bush near these REAL PUSSIES I notice my Bush withering, it just isn’t going to happen if I want to keep my Bush. They already have a Bush anyhow and it seems to thrive receiving their attentions, they don’t really need mine. Even though they all secretly desire mine because mine is infinately a better specimen!
I”m NOT going to touch any one of the above comments with a 11′ electric pole (that’s for the one’s who would’nt touch it with a 10′ pole ; )
with a 6-foot French horn player…
(ex-boyfriend from college…who happened to be of Polish heritage…yeah, bad joke…)
Afternoon here and still having coffee but will have to switch to iced. Husband wrote to say it poured where he works and it didn’t even sprinkle here. Gave up turned on the AC.
Diane your new sight is just wonderful. A soothing place to be and lots of room for new ideas. Looking forward to seeing more of it. Congrats on your endevor you did good!
Thanks Jake Apple,
Did you sign up , I didn’t see your name there. I think Janet gave you a 3 by mistake btw.
I have hopped over and joined the gang at village Blue. It runs different than here and it will take me a while to figure out stuff so if I make mistakes please don’t yell “how stupid are you” because then I would have to answer and we don’t want to do there. Pathtic cause I am married to a computer person who does it for a living.
Did get into some poetry over there and some nice stuff already. Made my book club read all of Robert Frost and then write a poem. Oh the screams and it turned out to be one of the best days we spent. They had fun reading their poems and they thought they couldn’t do it.
Hi jake, no worries if you make mistake on the site, no one will yell at you, there is a bit of getting used to, to the site, but it will be easy once you get the hang of it. We are all learning the site. Good that you signed up, thanks. I saw your name there.
Tracy, unless you really, really like it, look out for the baby’s breath-it has a tendency to become invasive.
A lovely day in Cascadia, light breeze and sunshine, only 70 (we’re having a cool summer), birds singing, trees dancing. I heard recently that there’s scientific proof that journaling about how happy you are with your life actually increases your seratonin levels for days-I’ll be trying this.
Happy despite the politics, continual degradation of human rights, a big fight in my union family and a housemate who appears to be rapidly slipping into alcoholism. Hasn’t paid the rent yet either and lost housekeys that he hasn’t replaced. He’s only 27 and is cutting every liferope we throw him.
But I got enough sleep last night, health’s good, family’s fine and I don’t have to work indoors-yes! I’m feeling those levels rise right now!
for the baby’s breath tip. I have never grown it and thought that it might be fun to grow some. Invasive things though that overgrow can hide snakes around here. Thaddeus my dog has become the snake hunter living here. He is very protective but because of him I realize how many snakes come on the property, and those are only the ones that he has found out about. Kind of creepy!
going back to work today…. play time over.
