Isn’t this an amazing time to be alive, as Tracy said in her recent dairy? Here we are, following the every move of two women 99% of us have never met and may never meet. But we care about their welfare as much as we do any friends we know in person.
Yes it is amazing time to be alive, and I am glad to see people waking up and smelling the coffee…
And I can say that as I am the one who has written many Rays of Hope diaries, and see now there is one big Ray of Hope and we must/need to build this one for all it’s worth.
All those whol’ bash’ her will be exposed to the ‘thinking people’ for what they really are. Their naked and missing conscience will be displayed for all the world to see and that will truly be shock and awe.
Gere’s a toast to the power of community/family spirit, which has the power to unite us in common causes and friendships, even on the internet, proving that it can happen anywhere, anytime!
I raise my glass in toast not only to our gals Tracy and Brinnaine, and Janet too, but to all those gathered in Crawford and now heading there. To all those who will rise up and follow, I raise my glass also!.
For a long time on this site my tag line was: If you can’t find a leader, be one; if a better one rises up, follow, him/her.
I just picked up this Time story. Is this OUR Tracy? Wowser!
Tracy Sivacek, the 40-year-old wife of an Army Apache helicopter pilot, delivers water to Sheehan’s busy outpost. Sivacek left behind her husband and disabled five-year-old son on Monday and drove nonstop from Fort Rucker, Alabama to Crawford, pausing only to sleep in a Waffle House parking lot. Her husband served one tour in Iraq and, she says, he has not been handling the adjustment back home well. . . .
“It’s not unfair for us to ask questions,” Sivacek says, adding she’d been concerned about the war even before her husband was posted to Iraq. “(War) is just too much for any person,” she says. . . .
Sivacek’s concerns about the war led her to start posting on antiwar web logs, though up til now she had never even joined any protests. As she watches law enforcement officers drive by periodically to ensure protestors remain in a designated area about two miles from the Bush ranch, Sivacek says she’s become more confident now that she’s met up with some of her virtual friends. She intends to stay at the protest site at least until Saturday — or until she and her fellow protestors are arrested or run off.
Tracy got more ink in that story than Cindy did. And no way is she 40! Not from that picture of her with Brinn and Janet Strange.
Yes it is our girl, she told me she was interview for times, and I may not have mentioned it….she’s a celebrity now!!!!Wow! And the wording she used was just so goooooooood, she sounded great didn’t she.!!!!
I am so proud of her (does anyone else remember her first dK diary?)!!! And of Brinn, and Supersoling, and Adastra and anyone else who has been able to go down and support Cindy. And Cindy of course! Cheers to all! (clink)
A woman named Hillary (from Time based in Austin) interviewed her this morning…and then followed us out to the camp ’cause she had just gotten there and didn’t know how to get there…we, of course, did!! 😉
Wow, and here you are, just like any ol’ ordinary night at the cafe. If you can stick around tell us more! Like if people keep arriving, sleeping conditions, any counter-protesters. . . too many questions!
Cheers to lead story on both NBC Nightly News and Olberman tonight. George sounds like a total asshat fuckwad…excuse my french. No more floers. I think Tracie said they have to keep moving them cause the police keep making them move the camp. THIS IS A GREAT DAY!!
I hope it’s not inappropriate to vent a bit… I always thought that was one of the functions of the bartender, was to be a soundingboard.
The GOP makes the following arguments against social services:
Every person who is able should have to earn their own way.
Handouts make people lazy.
Why do these tenets not apply to the children of the overclass? Why should the overclass be allowed to pass on their estates untaxed to people who have not earned it? Why are rich people’s children not required to make their own way? Why are rich people’s children allowed to be lazy?
This occured to me the other day when my wife was complaining that her company owner’s son gets a paycheck and a 401k from the company though he doesn’t actually do any work. He isn’t going to school, he doesn’t pay his own rent, his parents bought him a car and pay his insurance. And he IS lazy, so the the GOP is right that handouts make people lazy – they make the children of wealthy people lazy. George W. Bush is the perfect example of this phenomenon, isn’t he?
People working multiple jobs to make ends meet are not going to suddenly become lazy because they get a little assistance. They will (maybe) cut back to one job like the rest of us and get to spend a little time with their families. How come the party of family values doesn’t want poor people to spend time with their families?
Don’t forget to Unrecommend the previous cafe and Recommend this one. And watch out where you’re throwing those darts, ManEegee! Don’t make me send our bouncer over. You know our bouncer, Ed the Squid.
Were you by chance a Buffy fan? The demon on the label reminds me of one of the demons who was on either Buffy or Angel, I’m not sure which, maybe Angel. I can just hear his deep voice saying, “You are not worthy!”
I called her to tell her about the story on Times on line and read her the article and told her a lot of what has been said on site….she is very excited!!! and shocked..at the same time.and she said the lady who interviewed her was very nice and compassionate and practically quoted her word for word.
Any time after midnight, the annual Perseids Meteor Shower. They’ll seem to radiate out of the northeast, but flashed will be seen randomly over any portion of the sky as I understand.
Well, since I’m a quarter Irish (in the best places), here’s the good old Irish Blessing for our fighting females:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children’s children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
Actually, that one should go out to the whole Cafe crew… 🙂
Yeah you! I saw you lurking in that corner. Pull up a barstool and say hello. We’ve got fresh pretzels. They help to keep the trolls at bay, sortof like garlic to a vampire, if you get my drift.
and I know why — I overslept and missed my workout this morning. Then when I went this evening to make up for it, all the machines were in use.
Better turn in soon so I can get up earlier tomorrow…was over at dKos briefly (checking out Susan’s cross-posted diary on media star MilitaryTracy) and there’s going to be a rally in support of Cindy & Co. in San Jose tomorrow afternoon, so I’m going to try and get there with camera in tow.
I just did a search of google forCindy Sheehan and found a list of almost 2000 entries….yesterday it was about 1 page.
Couldn’t even get a google alert with the story, yesterday, today I did.
Some of them are Rep. ones, but most are not.
…and from the bottom of my glass, I toast you, Tracy, Brinn and Janet. This week, we all live vicariously through you. I’m sending you all positive energy and a little love.

Anybody know any good toasts for the occasion?

or in Gaelic, “Slante!”

Those fucking hypocrites make me sick.
You have come to the right place to vent! As for your rant, your bartender couldn’t agree with you more. Shall I set you up with another?
“Bottoms up!”
Too funny. You have found the perfect grassroots toast, not to mention the obvious toast for this cafe. A free drink for Gooserock.
Don’t forget to Unrecommend the previous cafe and Recommend this one. And watch out where you’re throwing those darts, ManEegee! Don’t make me send our bouncer over. You know our bouncer, Ed the Squid.
Ed and I already met…he learned the hard way that you should never try to take my beer away from me.
Hungry?
To quote a very funny man, HAHAHAHA!
I brought my own beer…
Dammit, you made me spit more beer on my keyboard!
Don’t you just love the fine print on the bottle of the label?
Were you by chance a Buffy fan? The demon on the label reminds me of one of the demons who was on either Buffy or Angel, I’m not sure which, maybe Angel. I can just hear his deep voice saying, “You are not worthy!”
Maybe a little like the nightclub karaoke demon?
Not really a super Buffy fan; my boys liked it though.
I was actually thinking of “he who shall not be named in the cafe” when I put that up…
y’all are hilarious today! Now I’m off to go find a stick.
Free Ed for All!
Me first! Me first! Pleeeassseee!
I’ll even let you go without the blindfold. I won’t try to guess what’s inside though. blech
that came in a little plastic trashcan container? Except more…and grayish. I better go get my biohazard suit first…

Hi, Brenda,
You’re sure been working hard lately. Take good care of yourself!
Any time after midnight, the annual Perseids Meteor Shower. They’ll seem to radiate out of the northeast, but flashed will be seen randomly over any portion of the sky as I understand.
Tonight the heavens toast Cindy.
The barkeep’s packing it in. It’s up to you West coasters and Tasmanians and night owls now.
