This is a short diary. Horrible news ought to be slugged down quick:
They’re shooting dogs in NO. Here’s video (WARNING–I’M GUESSING IT’S HORRIBLE; I couldn’t watch it after I heard the shots):
Here’s the message board for NOLA Pet Rescue. It sounds like they’re looking desperately for lawyers. They’ve called the state atty. and she doesn’t care (if I’m reading them right; their posts are kind of cryptic):
UPDATE: Maybe only a lone asshole

I have confirmed with the reporter who shot this footage from the Dallas Morning News that this is TRUE. This is not a composite, and it is not a hoax. The graphic video is actually what happened. You can see for yourself the dogs were not sick and were not attacking, but were shot from a truck a number of yards away from the dogs, who were just walking down the street.
The reporter’s name is David Leeson and he can be reached as follows, if you want to thank him or to confirm for yourself: 214-977-8930 ordleeson@dallasnews.com. I spoke with his photo editor, Rick Choate, who can be reached at: 214-977-7908 orrchoate@dallasnews.com “
from Dkos:
Seems to be one guy from what I can gather from various posts at the NOLA board and elsewhere, this activity is mostly restricted to one guy in the St. Bernard’s parish law enforcement (don’t know if he’s part of the sheriff’s office or what), and several levels of authorities, including the Guard, have been sicc’d on him. All the authorities have said this is not policy in any way, and one would hope that this video and accompanying publicity will keep it from becoming policy.

I’m afraid if you give the boys guns to play with, they’re bound to get mighty trigger-happy. Happiness is a warm gun, right?
I was thinking the same thing the other night Alice as I viewed recent video of NO. Men armed to teeth on every street corner.
I’ve dreaded this becoming policy at some point. . .
I supposed with this many animals on the loose and no where for them to go, it still may.
