We love the architectural details of the buildings downtown, so we always take photos. For us, it’s a little in joke because the store level of this building sells cheap socks, underwear and other crap. You can’t tell that looking up.
You can tell by the way the seat is bowed that several people have sat there to get their pics taken. I sat there too, but my butt is so big, I got caught between the monkeys! Mr. Fab kept snapping away while laughing at me. I had to sit on him to show him who’s boss. LOL!
Not the sexiest of city halls, but no one believes that we have trees other than palms here in SoCal. This proves not only do we, but they even turn colors.
New Otani
We go to the Japanese Food Festival every year at the New Otani Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. This particular year, we had way too much to drink (stupid peer pressure) and decided to hang out in the gardens to sober up. I grabbed the camera and started shooting. We didn’t notice the geishas until we got home (sober).
Natural History Museum Dome
This is the dome of the Natural History Musuem here in L.A. I took this actually hoping to get the architectural details of the dome, not the glass part.
Griffith Park
We had friends who liked to pretend to exercise in Griffith Park. It was really to check out guys. One day we went along with them. (taken by one of us)
Grasshopper on a lock
My husband, who is scared of bugs, came home excited about what he captured on film. He had no idea what kind of bug it was. I told him, "Dear, that’s a grasshopper." He freaked out…It could have jumped on him! . (taken by Mr. Fab)
I kept saying that the grasshopper was at least 5 – 6 inches long. I’m just said, “Okay, honey.” He said, “You don’t believe me?!?!?” No way psycho-man. So we grabbed my tape measure and ran out to measure the lock. He hemmed and hawed for awhile, then I just looked at his pants, shook my head and walked away. He’s usually so go with guessing measurements too.
L.A. at Night
Taken from the rooftop rotisserie restaurant at the Bonaventure Hotel. I think we’re looking at traffic from Staples Center. . (taken by Mr. Fab)
Astrojax at Night
My husband buys toys that amuse him for all of 3 weeks. Astrojax was one of them. This is what happens when 2 drunk 30-somethings hang out at night for way too long. (taken by Mr. Fab)
2" Buddha
Most of our friends don’t believe this was a 2" (headless) Buddha in our courtyard, until I show them. What can I say? I have a weird neighbor. (taken by me)
Nice photos, Fabooj. A lot of people don’t get to know the sights of Los Angeles. Its beauty is often hidden but it’s there for those who look for it. Long ago when I loved in Southern California I loved to photograph the downtown L.A. architecture. Thanks for the memories!
It’s too easy to take pics of the beach and palm trees and just LA scenery. I like taking pics of the little places where no one expects LA to shine through. Don’t get me wrong, I have TONS of pics of the people in LA who are just strange. It’s the backgrounds I love the most though. If people would stop tearing down things here, we’d have a lovely old town.
Hello Fab! I love your photos. And your witty descriptions are just wonderful. You’re right, you and Mr. Fab do indeed go at photography from different angles. It’s great! ….and your kid is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

See No, Hear No, Speak No, and my kid
My first trip ever to San Francisco was last year in August. We were walking about Chinatowna and found this bench. Had to take a photo.
Humorous picture, Fabooj, I love it!

It reminds me of this administration in New Orleans.
Great shot about the innocence of children

I think it`s perfect.

No wonder he was scared. I`ve seen that lock before & it`s about 2 feet across.

Thanks for posting these for me!
I particularly like the grasshopper-and Mr Fab’s reaction to it!
